I don’t remember the character of Mary standing out. Kind of lackluster. Other matriarchs had a stronger presence like domineering Nancy Hughes and Bert Bauer and even Alice Horton

I wonder if the Penny recast would have worked better if they had waited a few years. They did that with Don Maybe the writers weren’t interested or the character was indeed not replaceable .

What time slot was the extra half hour returned to the affiliates

Wonder what would have happened if they expanded The Doctors and put it at 3 against GH and GL. If they followed the GH track The Doctors would not be any more medical than any other show and more action adventure

Watched early 60s clips with Lisa. I’ve never got how Nancy was so big on Bob and Lisa getting back together and supportive of Lisa. Most parents would not be happy to have a scheming and cheating daughter in law. Nancy could be a bit strange

Although 3 years later CBS would bump LOL to 11:30 for Where the Heart Is

When did NBC shop this show? Mid 60s? Wonder what they would have done with it. They haven’t had a good track record with keeping shows It might have worked well airing after Another World

What did Stu do for a living before running the Inn with Jo?

The Dobson’s did not know what to do with the history of this show. I did not care for their writing on here. Which I don’t understand because they did good things on Guiding Light

That’s a good idea putting Y&R on at 4. After school watching. Wouldn’t think the 9 and 10 time slots would be very successful but I don’t know. It managed to be number 1
