  1. Is it weird that as soon as I saw her in the trailer for that show I knew she'd be recast?
  2. According to the description this was the only scene Michelle Stafford's Phyllis and Alex Donnelly's Diane shared. It was pretty standard soap fare but when you have two dynamite actresses (before MS became tic central!), Y&R excellent score and exceptional direction (that shot of Phyllis through the handle of Diane's purse was SO simple but they would never take the time for something like that on soaps today) you get something that rises above the rest.
  3. Thanks @DramatistDreamer! Wow they let the black people open the show AND they got the big orchestral romantic music? Ana can’t even get a love interest after nearly a year.
  4. I think Natalie as Viki's daughter was the last great "long-lost child" story told in daytime. It was rooted in history, they cast a great actress (though veeeery green at first, I still loved her) and it lead to...well, a lot of bad stories BUT a real genuine bond between mother and daughter that came across well onscreen.
  5. John J. York (Mac, GH) is in about 2 seconds of the last episode of the new (very funny) Netflix comedy series I Think You Should Leave as a weatherman.
  6. Thanks, @dragonflies and @Vee. Glad to hear.
  7. Aww Matthew and Destiny got engaged. That's sweet. I wonder if she mentioned Bo. I miss OLTL a lot, even with how bad it was it had a stronger connection to its past than AMC did when it died and GH now.
  8. We all know the ratings for Luke and Laura's wedding were insane (30 million) but does anyone know what the ratings were like in the days leading up to the wedding and the days after?
  9. I will give her that. She tries and never gives less than 100%. She still isn't Carly but at least unlike her co-stars she doesn't sleepwalk through the material.
  10. Very impressed by whatever's happening at that guy's waist 8 seconds in...
  11. I don't know who this Trina girl is but I like her. Did the child paying Josslyn get her lips done? What a world. Those scenes still suck BUT the music is a marked improvement. I especially like the cues you used just as Josslyn and that kid kissed and when we came back from to them kissing and her pulling away. And OF COURSE the classic cue you used as they were deciding whether or not to have sex.
  12. He was in on it too. I'm not sure why he hasn't been indicted. The transcripts make it pretty clear that he knew what was going on.
  13. That whole episode felt like the filmed segments of Sesame Street to me.
  14. I've been mad about Kristina's death for 17 years now so this feels like cathartic.
  15. Awww she looks great, she’s lost weight (I hope that was a choice and not illness) and looks more like an ages version of Laura Spencer here than she ever did on B&B.
  16. @BoldRestless Those episodes are magical. I started watching the show only a few months after they aired (Cole was gone by the time I tuned in). It's so odd looking back how they had Victoria in triangles with women so much older than her. Heather Tom is a very mature actress but she looks like a kid. Also this Vicky is so far removed from who we have now and they never ever reference her life from before Amelia Heinle took over (she was married more than once, widowed, had a stillbirth, with the recast it's like they got a clean slate). They may as well not be the same character.
  17. A teenager coming on to the psycho more than twice her age who had her cloned from the DNA of his dead wife. Very sexy, CBS.
  18. Hahaha, watching that promo prompted me to look up the show and her return and wow they really sold a bill of goods there. Also she was only back for a WEEK apparently?
  19. This is...ridiculous. No way did whatever they did live up to the dramatics of this promo, it just couldn't.
  20. The quality in that first EE promo is out of this world. I don't think that story was very well received though.
  21. I think that's Janice Dickinson (model and former ANTM judge) at the end of that commercial puckering at the TV.
  22. Watching that promo and another Loving promo from the 80s the other day where two characters say "abortion" in the space of 10 seconds reminds me of how puritanical soaps have become. We don't even get love scenes between two consenting adults, hot ones anyway. Today's soaps are completely static. There's no vibrancy to any of the scenes, no one TALKS about anything, every reaction to any event is lethargic. All of the actors look tired and bored out of their minds. There was more authenticity and emotion in that 5 second clip of Karen and Larry on the couch than 39 minutes of Y&R.
  23. "When Victor was getting nailed, where were YOU?" I always enjoyed the orgasmic moans behind these promos.
  24. LW doesn't look or act like a woman who has ever had to fight or work very hard to get things in life, she seems 100% entitled to everything she has. SB's Carly looked like she had a hardscrabble upbringing, she carried herself like a bulldog that was always ready to bite if you got too close.
  25. Soaps could be our comfort food right now but all it is is death, rape and redeeming serial killers! There is not one heartwarming moment left in any of these shows.
