YR: Fan favorite couple gets married
They get married in the lobby of the Grand Poobah, don't they?

Does your soap have a "Red Swan", a s/l or phrase or character that makes you groan?
I bet Passions has a ton of these since they repeated everything ad nauseam on that show. The reliquary on Y&R. I can't remember the plot at all but I know they said "reliquary" incessantly and that at one point Victoria recreated an ancient reliquary with gumption, spit and paper mache.

Y&R and B&B May Sweeps Spoilers
It boggles my mind that so many people ran with something a PR guy said. That's their job, to hype up nonsense.

Characters that ATE their Soaps
Yeah I wouldn't say Erica ate her show either. She was a huge focus but never to the detriment of other characters. Adam, Brooke, Edmund, Tad, etc. were all leading A story separate from her. It feels like a character is eating a show when every story aside from theirs feels like a C story (not even B). That's how I felt watching Sonny/Carly/Jason/Courtney(or Sam) in the early 2000s. The rest of the cast felt superfluous.

WHY do these shows do that? They run off actors who would happily stay if only they weren't played 5 days a week. You give these indispensable stars burnout but get mad when they choose to leave. They did't ruin Skye, Skye's done so much troubling sh*t that this was nothing really, but Brenda so clearly being the priority is the type of slanted writing that will turn you off of any story.

Better yet she tells Peter Jennings she might be his mother. I too have never liked Robin Christopher. I found her extremely cold and just not that good. And her eyebrows were too thin.

Characters that ATE their Soaps
Joss already has a de facto dad in Sonny. Sometimes I forget he's NOT her father. There's zero conflict there. She thinks he's the bee's knees. To add to the topic, Kendall, Ryan, Greenlee and Zach swallowed AMC whole at one point. They were on every single day in stories that weren't remotely engaging and with none of them being particularly impressive actors. Thorsten Kaye and Rebecca Budig especially did not hide their dissatisfaction with less than stellar material.

Characters that ATE their Soaps
Agreed. I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who considers Jax a true lead. Outside of his romantic interests did he even have a story of his own? And if he hadn't had a kid with Carly I think he would have been forgotten about outside of a Brenda mention 10 years ago. I've always thought they purposely chose characters who were disposable. They couldn't bare to have actual popular characters off their show of origin for as long as they had Rae and Skye. I like Linda Dano but that experiment was just bizarre looking back, especially knowing how youth obsessed ABC had become at that point, plus she was the star of the lowest rated soap. Her Q score must have been phenomenal.

Characters that ATE their Soaps
I'm not sure they were actually, their interaction seems more friendly than anything. And yeah Jax bringing Kristina into Alexis' life feels off because she never even told him the details of what happened, she explains all of that to Kristina in the next clip. Weird plot point!

Characters that ATE their Soaps
I'm probably wrong about her popularity with Ned. But I don't remember much about Ned. I just know I liked her! And I was upset that they killed her off, even if it did lead to the last truly great scene on the show. I don't know how they wrote all of that and still have Sonny pulling the same sh!t 20 years later. I just watched her first scenes with Alexis and they brought her on what looks like the day after Chloe died. That's kind of twisted.

Kristina was popular with the wrong people. Her initial story/introduction was pretty unpopular but once they got away from that and paired her with Ned and let JRN bring some personality to the part she became pretty popular I thought. I liked her anyway and was sad to see her go. Kristina was one of the few characters on the show at the time who wasn't a completely dour malcontent.

Days 5/2/2022 Weekly Preview Promo
So Bo is, I'm guessing, going to come back as a ghost to help his daughter and her loser baby daddy somehow.

Characters that ATE their Soaps
I think it was due to an EP change? I recall Bob Guza was basically forced to write for her.

Characters that Stopped Getting Stories
Jack didn't have a real story on Y&R (and it's debatable he has one now) for years after all the Patty/Marco nonsense.

Y&R May 2022 Discussion Thread
Why is this show allergic to scoring scenes?! Every other soap still does but this trash bag of a program thinks all scenes should be silent or have that lame twinkly music they use at the end of every episode!

General Hospital: May 2022 Discussion Thread
It's so creepy. He looks like a weathered old man latching onto this girl. I want to scream "stay away from her!" every time they're onscreen together. Willow and Sasha, who I can finally tell apart because one of them went dirty blonde, are just the same non-entity in different fonts. Imagine if they'd invested as much time and energy into legacy characters appropriate for all the story they've given these two wet mops.

Jerry VerDorn has passed away
RIP...I know it's been 10 years now but it seems like OLTL went off the year just yesterday. He brought so much life and vibrancy to the role of Clint and you could tell he relished it compared to his last few years on GL where he had little to nothing to do.

FIRE!
Kevin should have never recovered from this. He terrorized two characters who should have been the future of the show in statutorily raping Lily and giving her an STI and then trying to kill Colleen. Instead he went on to become a lead while Colleen is dead and Lily has had nothing to do in years. That said, the shoe was on fire (forgive the pun) at the time.

Y&R May 2022 Discussion Thread
What IS the plot here other than "Diane's alive"? She explained why she did it and where she was. Have they hinted at more? Or does this writing team think her mere existence is enough? A month of Jack announcing to Genoa City that Diane is alive does not constitute a story.

General Hospital: April 2022 Discussion Thread
She's a beautiful cipher. If they want to up their Black Cast bring in someone new because this ain't it. She looks uncomfortable in her own skin. NuTrina is still great. What a find. Rory is a little bland in the acting and looks department but we'll see where this goes. I like a black girl in the middle of a love triangle.

Y&R April 2022 Discussion Thread
I'm freaking out a little bit because the score at the end of this scene sounds sweeping and epic, which is the first time I've felt this way about Y&R in damn near a decade. The camera work when Nikki first sees Diane is also the most interesting choice they've made in YEARS. Also everyone looks great in this clip. Older but still themselves. Susan Walters is just a gorgeous woman, with her beautiful untouched face.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Reva had a string of stupid storylines with diminishing returns and after a point they never seemed to help the ratings yet there was. On every single day in one of her stupid outlandish stories chewing up every set in Springfield. Reva's Amish. Reva the clone, Reva the princess, Reva gets stalked, Reva saves the refugees, Reva the mercy killer, Reva travels through paintings and amidst all that nonsense her most successful story was her conflict with her rebellious long-lost son. A tried and true soap staple. I just wonder why soaps continue pushing the same characters frontburner despite ratings reflecting either disinterest or viewer revolt. GL was at the bottom of the ratings for it's last decade with Reva in A story constantly YET they stuck with her. I do not get it.
