Long article, worth reading the whole thing... Great article about Beyond The Gates and also the history of the real-life "Country Club at Woodmore", located in Prince George's County, Maryland - one of the wealthiest majority-Black counties in the US. The article says that the country club, and its attached gated community, is the epicentre of the area's upper crust. They interview local residents! Although it traces its roots back to plantation-era slavery, the region has become synonymous with "Black excellence", locals told the BBC. To live there, Patricia Gafford says: "You've got to have money – lots of it."

This marks the first time the USA has designated an official language at the federal level since the USA was founded almost 250 years ago. I don't know if there's been a reaction, since fifty zillion other horrible things are happening at the same time. As you said, it probably got lost amidst everything else. It's all awful.

I was in high school studying Shakespeare in the early 1970s. Our school arranged a special screening at the local theatre and we had a "field trip" on the bus to go to the theatre to see Romeo and Juliet.

Vernon's grandson (Nicole's son) Martin the congressman. Interestingly Martin and his husband Brad "Smitty" both seem to be wanting more. They're married with two teen children they've mentioned but we haven't seen yet. They seem happy but ... Smitty is a bored househusband who apparently wants his journalism career back? and Martin loves being a congressman but says he wants something more, but he's not sure what it is that he wants.

They did! They had that conversation after getting dressed, then undressed and had sex a second time. Then they got dressed again and she gave him some fuzzy pink handcuffs, which which she wants him to arrest her later tonight. He then stood behind her and wrapped himself around her but that scene ended ... and Naomi was next shown at the club with family, so presumably they resisted doing it a third time.

Well I just *assumed* that Hayley didn't want anyone to find out and that's why she thanked Vanessa, but Vanessa would have kept quiet regardless because she's professional. But who knows. Maybe there's more to it?

Vanessa served as real estate agent for her client Hayley, and, as a professional, she kept the confidence of her clients, and didn't tell anyone (not even the Duprees) that Hayley and Bill were buying a home in Fairmont Crest. Vanessa didn't tell anyone until after the deal was closed and Hayley had the keys. And then we saw the scene afterwards where Vanessa went to the club and told the Duprees who bought the house.
