  1. I had such a crush on him when I was a teenager lol he was a big part of the reason why I started watching ATWT
  2. Agreed. Hard to believe he’s almost 40. He still looks so young
  3. I’d like to see her as a recast Lois but she’s probably going to be another brand new character. Hopefully she won’t be wasted. The show is still way too crowded though
  4. Lmaooo Will can do it. Never underestimate the power of a cute blonde lol
  5. Unbelievable There really are no other words to describe something like this when it happens. RIP
  6. I'm a little self critical myself, which is probably why I haven't started writing my soap again. Back then, if it was bad, I could just blame it on the fact that I was a kid. Nowadays I don't really have an excuse lol
  7. Sounds similar to my story. The year I started writing my soap was a pretty tough one for me too. I still refer to it as the year that I grew up. I was a big fan of disaster storylines too. I ended up destroying my little town four times over the course of my soap lol
  8. @Lust4Life76 I've heard of "Days of the Week" but I've never seen it. I've read some of your fanfic. It's really good! And your original work sounds good as well. Lmao that's ok. Not too long ago I realized that I named my little town "Lakeview", yet there was no lake to view lol I'll have to remember to include a lake in the story if I decide to reboot it.
  9. Honestly, those storylines sound awesome. I would have been a reader of "Life".
  10. These all sound so interesting and intriguing. I bet we all could do a better job then some of the current head writers. I get it lol. I had a lot of my characters just suddenly try to kill each other in the beginning of my soap. Like one argument would occur and then suddenly, they would end up trying to kill each other lol I even did a Honey, I Shrunk the Kids-like story in which the main villain had two characters shrunk and attempted to have them killed lol
  11. Many times we, the SON Community have watched episodes of our favorite soaps, criticized the writing and often said to ourselves, "I (We) can write better than that." So it led me to think, has anyone ever tried to write their own soap opera? I started writing my own soap when I was 10. Admittedly, it was crap but I like to think that it got better as I got older. Though I borrowed heavily from Days of our Lives and Passions, which were my two favorite soaps at the time, what actually inspired me to write my own soap was a movie called "Delirious" Starring John Candy, Mariel Hemingway and Emma Samms, in which John Candy plays a soap writer who has a dream that he is a character in his show. I called my soap "Family and Hatred" and it was centered around the wealthy Dozer family, and the middle class Lopez and Crowe families, who lived in the small upstate New York town of Lakeview. Eventually I expanded it to include the dysfunctional Miller and Andrews families. I wrote it for quite a while on a computer, but I eventually switched over to handwriting it on notebook paper. I stopped writing it years ago, but now I actually have some ideas for a reboot/continuation of it but I haven't written anything solid yet. Have any of you ever tried your hand at soap writing?
  12. Yeah, guys like this usually have long criminal records/reputations so you should keep investigating before you confront her. Just be careful 😉
  13. Clearly, you're intelligent enough and strong enough to realize it's all b.s. On talking to her about him/his lifestyle, is she the type of person who will sit down and listen you, or is she the type who will jump down your throat and refuse to hear anything you say the moment you start speaking? If she's the latter, I don't think there's anything you can do. Like alcoholism or drug addiction, you have to let them hit bottom.
  14. I did a research paper on cult psychology in college. First off, take care of yourself and your husband first. If this guy is what you think he is, don't give him any reason to be upset at you two. If you don't mind me asking, was your friend unhappy or unsatisfied with the way her life was going when she met this guy? Because those are the type of people that cult leaders prey on. How did you feel when you met him? Did he talk to you a lot? Did you feel like he was trying to brainwash you with his way of thinking?
  15. Just listened to Episode 5. I'm actually really liking it. I have no problem keeping track with all the characters and storylines at this point. I think the writing is very good as well. But I do agree with what @Asb23 says above. Some of the performers do sound a little robotic sometimes
  16. Here's the link to the 1986 playlist
  17. Pretty much her entire run on AW is available on Youtube. From September to December 1986
  18. He didn't sound too crazy about her. I wonder why
  19. Nothing will ever be as bad as Ben's redemption lol. I think Kevin was the only character that was sacrificed in order to prop Carl, but he was always written as a little unscrupulous so I don't think it was much of a surprise when he was written out as a part of Carl's redemption. I will admit though that AW did take it to the extreme by having a woman fall in love with the man who tried to kill her, more than once. But everybody's performances in the storyline made it worth watching.
  20. You're right. The character of Brittany was written by three different writing regimes and each one practically completely changed the character.
  21. Actually, she did have a brief story in the months leading up to her death when Cecile tried to steal Cass away from Frankie by claiming that Cass' was Maggie's father. But the story wasn't that well written. The original plan was for Donna to be killed off, but fan outrage is what saved her. And yes, Brooklyn, especially the neighborhood that the studio was located in, is definitely another world of its own.
