I still can't believe that Vicky was killed off so easily on ATWT.

From what I saw, I remembering thinking that it kinda dropped off during the strike. Except for Max's death, the show seemed a little snoozy at that time. I think that might have been due to the change in writers. The Corringtons probably wanted Elliot to be the one who betrayed the prisoners at the prison camp, but when Dorothy Ann Purser and Sam Ratcliffe took over, they changed it to Barrett.

My guess is Paul Rauch and P&G were more concerned about poaching a popular actor from GH, rather than actually developing a character for him to play. And they just forced the character on the Corrington's, who never really seemed interested in writing for him.

I'm pretty sure the photo was fake because I remember Philece's Donna saying that John had already gone to Vietnam when the twins were born. I'm kind of glad they didn't do the triplet storyline. Donna having a nervous breakdown because she had triplets make no sense when you think about it. But her having a nervous breakdown because she thinks that her worst fear (John being Vicky and Marley's father) is true makes a lot more sense. Scott's true parentage was totally forgotten about once that storyline was axed. And Cheryl was a newborn baby when Mary took off. Way too many lol. Each writer shoved so much history onto them that when you think about it, that was a very busy two or three years in the 1960's for the Love/Hudson/McKinnon families lol Vince and Mary did formally leave. After Mary's Place burned down, they moved to Minneapolis to live near MJ.

According to Texas, Dennis was 25 in 1980, so I figure that Jamie was supposed to be like the same age. I assume that Dennis was de-aged a little bit when Chris Bruno was cast. But if you follow the original timeline, Jamie and Dennis were probably supposed to be like 10 years older than Vicky and Marley. Michael and Rachel's previous friendship was just another mistake by a writer who didn't do their homework. That happened a lot on AW lol. When Michael was first introduced, he and Rachel were supposed to be old high school friends, which I don't see how since Michael and Donna were 17 when Donna had Vicky and Marley, meaning that Michael and Donna were in their mid 30s when Michael first came on the show, and Rachel was supposed to be older than that.

I think in the base of the swan, there were locks of Mac's hair and Paulina's mother's hair and they were able to test it against Paulina's and prove she was really Mac's daughter. It may depend on the soap or the producer. Leah Laiman wasn't fired from DAYS immediately after the strike and Doug Marland stayed on ATWT for five more years after the strike, until he died.

Dean's father name was Henry. I never got why they had to create another Frame sibling. Dean could have easily been Jason's son or even Willis' or Vince's.

It's a very good opinion lol I remember in an episode Jason even referred to it as Emma's farm. Plus we then had to believe that there was another Frame sibling in town around the same time as Steve, which we all know was not true. Goes to show you what happens when writers don't do their homework. AWHP says there was another Frame sibling named Norman who never appeared on the show. He could have easily been Jason instead of just creating another random Frame.

Yeah, something about him having a strained relationship with his Dad and he started taking drugs. His sister also had a crush on Matt. But they all disappeared once the strike ended. Yeah.

Thanks for the info about Lemay's projections! All of the strike storylines were written by Donna Swajeski, which is probably one of the reasons why her and Lemay clashed and he quit the show. But yeah, I wasn't a big fan of the ghost stuff or the Kevin Julian storyline either.

I checked AWHP. It says Lemay's scripts aired until November 10th and Iris came back on October 27th, so he did make Iris Mac's daughter again. I always found the whole idea of Iris being adopted unnecessary in general. I guess by 1978 Lemay had started to burn out. You're right. Iris thought that by coming to Mac's/Cory Publishing's rescue, she would earn his love and respect again which is a bit of a rewrite anyway since when Iris left in 1980, there was no strained relationship between her and Mac at all. My guess is a writer didn't do their homework. I wonder what the original plan for the takeover storyline was. A lot of it was written during the writer's strike so I wonder if the Chief was always going to turn out to be Iris, or did Lemay take the story in a completely different direction?

I wonder why Lemay chose to rewrite his own story and suddenly make Iris Mac's biological daughter again. The reveal about Sylvie and Mac's wife did seem a little half assed but I'm glad that Lemay fixed it, I just wonder why. I wish he had gone more into detail about his 1988 run in that We Love Soaps interview. The only thing that he was really clear about was that human trafficking storyline involving John and Sharlene.
