Several other posters have talked about this kind of phrasing recently. The border is an ongoing issue and certainly one the media is desperate to push to try to create a more conventional false equivalency again, but no, it's not actually at present drowning those accomplishments or stories out. Something we see on Twitter is not always a dominant narrative. And having valid concern about something being drowned out - which I can understand - is not the same as it actually happening. I told people this would happen. I remember the media breathlessly saying 'don't get comfortable! Trump is still a kingmaker, he's a political force for years to come!' even before the official win was announced. That was their grieving process. I knew it was a fantasy. He will never run again and he has no attention span or energy for it. Like, really, Donald Trump, GOP mother brain? Donald Trump, downballot campaigner scheming to consolidate blocs of support for new candidates? In what universe?- The Media/Journalism Thread
Haberman has been going around and around on this for days and is notably annoyed in that way about her where you can tell - she even started replying to Matt Negrin. Meanwhile:- The Media/Journalism Thread

There were some journalists who worked truly hard in the Trump era, and put themselves at risk and kept putting out great work. There were even a number of craven, tacky access-driven types who were put in danger at times in those crowds of lunatics, not just on 1/6 in the Capitol but on other days. The problem is a lot of those who were still don't see the urgency of not trying to 'normalize' the GOP or repair Trump's image unless they are the ones directly in danger at that given moment. They played at being bold, unbowed truthtellers against Trump while constantly laundering access gossip from inside the Trump WH's endlessly feuding staff, or laundering quotes from Trump himself. They miss that circus they could count on and are taking it out on Biden, while also trying to retroactively pretend the last administration was a normal one so they can keep making spurious bothsides comparisons between the right and left here and now. So far it isn't really working out, and they're annoyed. Thread: Meanwhile: And in the UK:- The Politics Thread

The Beltway has worked to try and make this a thing for a couple days and the ratio/replies have been cruel and uncooperative each time. People aren't buying the "give Trump credit for the vaccine" thing either. Neither angle is working but they are desperate to try to push normalizing Trump for something - anything - to excuse their own complicity. Just like Iraq, the media expects flowers for dragging their heels and going along with the GOP. Self-reflection is not something they can bear, and criticism from the left is not something they tolerate.- The Politics Thread

It is very hard to overstate how big this is to hear a mainstream Democrat say - let alone a Democratic President of the United States, on national television. And no, it would not mean the same thing coming from Bernie Sanders as it so often has. I was born in the dawn of the Reagan era and I've watched a lot of Dems run away from the perceived power of Reagan's fiscal policy for decades. This is a quantum shift.- Disney+: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

I think they will, based on Manchin's inconsistent commentary on the filibuster but also fairly regular commentary on H.R. 1. Many of us have conflicted feelings (or worse!) about AOC, but she is very good at certain things and this will be important for the reachable portion of the left flank. Some of the hardcore will turn on her like many already have (as I predicted), but she is still very popular with a lot of young people or progressives and this is good messaging - something she doesn't always do for the Dems vs. herself.- The Media/Journalism Thread
