  1. They held onto him a lot longer than I thought this time, given the history. That being said, the way DOOL actors go on and off-contract constantly nowadays I wouldn't be so sure it means that much re: his not remaining with the show. He may well be on a break like many others to keep costs down.
  2. That was a truly dreadful recast and a dreadful time but I'm sure he was a nice man, I guess? RIP?
  3. Burton has been obnoxious for a long time to me in a lot of ways, but he was incredibly respectful and complimentary of Leslie Charleson and her long, long history on the show when he had her on his dumb podcast and I was very pleased about that.
  4. Tamara Tunie (Jessica, ATWT) is featured in Netflix's upcoming live-action Cowboy Bebop adaptation.
  5. Nick Stabile was awful. Plenty of soap people are right-wing. As long as they shut the fùck up I can tolerate it.
  6. Andrew was basically Malone's alter ego, IMO. No one wrote him as well and few understood him.
  7. She looks better than she did those last few years overly made up on the show, IMO.
  8. There are tons of quietly right-wing/evangelical types in daytime onscreen, at least. Most of them have always had the good sense to keep it out of the work and out of the stories, which is how I've tolerated it.

I may risk going back again to see it with a larger audience! That's how good it is.
  10. Seriously, why did Stitch do this?
  11. Listen, he'd fit in well at DAYS. I'll let him live.

I figured I might as well make a thread so we can get our reactions in. (Or just me) Saw it today. It's very good, better than even I'd hoped. The music is almost a match for Philip Glass' classic score, and Nia DaCosta (whose debut film, Little Woods, I found just okay) did stunning work as a director, you can see why Marvel immediately called her for Captain Marvel 2 - the horror/kill scenes are a work of art. But the best thing about is the social/class/culture commentary, even more pointed than the original. Some critics, like Angelica Jade Bastien at Vulture (who often hates everything) found it too didactic; I thought it was amazingly layered. Vanessa Williams' return was great - she still looks amazing and was heartbreakingly on point. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II's every micro-expression was spellbinding to me. How Bastien can say he did a poor job is beyond me. Teyonah Parris was incredible as well, and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett was hysterical and completely different from what he typically plays. Colman Domingo is always stellar. I had a copy of the early Jordan Peele and co. draft. The final film was considerably different from that version, but it wouldn’t have been appropriate to do what that did. A lot of the characters and beats are the same, but in the original script (SPOILERS for the movie): I think this revival was very nearly the equal of the original film, and that's about all I can ask for. Excellent.
  13. ABC needs to start cutting heads if Frank won't do it. This isn't like when you fire a fan favorite and keep your head down and wait for it to blow over.
  14. Erika was very vocal about deciding retirement sucks and stays busy in life after soaps. I love her.
  15. I really need to catch up lol.
  16. Who doesn't love Kasi Lemmons?
