The episode goes up in about 30 mins - I'll probably watch it shortly after, though I may try live. I am running on a lot of coffee after last night lol.

@Faulkner @DRW50 Disney is going all out: Gatwa and Gibson did a pre-tape for today's Disney holiday parade on ABC. I'll find footage when I can.

Gatwa talks advice from Matt Smith.
  5. Oh, this is idiotic. Come on, why is he in there?
  6. Holly also made it clear in her memoir she had local affiliate packages of early episodes. It's just tragic some of this may be sorted in future by loved ones or family estates. I would kill to see the AMC pilot.

    It's time, @DRW50
  8. This is why I hold out hope for more of so many shows, especially '60s/'70s OLTL where for years we thought we'd never see more of it and now of course we have. We know some cast and crew took home kinescopes, affiliate packages, etc. from their shows. The material is out there.

    Two days:
  10. Oh wow. We've heard of this for decades but I never thought i'd see it.
  11. I don't think you bring a name star like Adrienne Barbeau in not to play a meaty role like the tragic black widow of sorts. But I think the way it was actually done onscreen in the Balkan saga was very silly. I'll stand on my island as the person who thought Hetrick was fine!
  12. If slightly hackier writers than the current ones (or Ron) had been able to bring back Brenda fulltime, you'd 100% have seen a NuVeronica turn up as some Big Bad in the 2010s. I'm still not ruling it out! I thought the disease/lost mother story was an interesting idea. It was just very poorly sped through. You apparently can't receive any, or I would!
  13. I thought Veronica was cast well - the great Jennifer Hetrick, formerly Picard's (and Patrick Stewart's) paramour on Star Trek. I just felt the story, while interesting, was very rushed. I had forgotten it was like less than a month of screen time lol.
  14. I thought the Anders character was interesting but a bit arch and cartoonish in how they presented his overly anal, buttoned-down persona with the dead wife thing lurking in the background. More time spent on him would hopefully have changed that. I also wanted to see Dixie branch out, but they couldn't so easily cast off Tad either given everything.

  16. I'm well aware. But the point was that it's far from unrealistic or out of the realm of everyday possibility these days, and it was healthy for GH to show and model it as behavior for viewers. Soaps have certainly done plenty of the opposite storyline.
  17. I do think it takes two in certain circumstances. If the old Martha Nochimson story about GH BTS from one of her books is true, Tony had good reason to have beef with Genie at one point during their comeback. I imagine GF deeply regrets things if that alleged account is accurate (which I am not going to repeat but is not hard to find if you google), as it was a sad product of the times in the '90s. But I also don't think that fully excuses what went on with Tony otherwise, or how he tanked story later on.
  18. And if Tony is back, they better deal with the Genie of it all. If they don't give him scenes with Laura because TG insisted or something I'll blow my top. There is no way in this world or the next that Laura and Scorpio alone would not be on the next plane if Felicia and Carly of all people find out Luke is alive. If it's true they'e going to be building up to the funeral episodes with Bobbie stuff for 2 weeks I guess I should start watching now. I didn't realize they've been already setting up that Bobbie is in Amsterdam offscreen dealing with Luke's supposed final affairs.
  19. The female EPs in particular put up with a lot back then. I think Tony was said to have thrown some furniture in those years - he may have even admitted it in an exit interview. James DePaiva allegedly threw a chair in Gottlieb's office.
  20. DM me sometime and I'll drag it out of mothballs. But yes, my idea was not designed as a permanent end; it was done to close off Luke and Laura and do a nice adventure for the whole cast (a la the 2012 water crisis when they definitely thought they were being cancelled, and managed to save the show instead) while assuming the show would be moving directly to Hulu or wherever immediately thereafter, with a new cast, budget, content restrictions, etc.
  21. @DRW50 will be among the many pleased to hear Ryan Carnes is back. I do hope we see Sarah, Tamara, Brad Maule and others. In flashback if nothing else. The story mention re: Amsterdam and old business sounds like Tony has to be back. If they can't get him for this what are you doing with your lives.
  22. For many kids it isn't, but for many it is or can be. This isn't the 80s or the 90s. It's not some fantasy and all, it's the kind of behavior many accepting parents now try to model for kids like that. Which is why it was so important and touching to see GH model it for its audience, the same way it taught them about AIDS, etc.
  23. Because it is the only romantic story TG will allow. The last time someone tried otherwise (Ron) he brought the hammer down. I think if someone had actually pushed him again he might've respected it. This is a more down to earth, less over-ambitious and probably much more viable angle than my own ideas lol, which are pretty grandiose and simultaneously designed as a splashy farewell for the network version of the show allowing it to clear the decks for a new streaming version, and would probably require burning all of its remaining ABC budget on the way out the door. Yours are smarter, more mature and I like it! But I keep my big ideas in a drawer though I have zero intention or likelihood of working on the soaps, so I won't post all my mess in here.
