  1. I quoted an article in the NY Post after only reading headline, so you'll get no judgement from me. I was just making the point that these false correlations on social media are foolish.
  2. Just for context with the tweet quoted above(although the correlation is poor at best). Harvey Weinstein was expelled from the Academy in 2017 and Roman Polanski was expelled in 2018 https://www.forbes.com/sites/maddieberg/2017/10/13/here-are-all-of-harvey-weinsteins-oscar-wins/?sh=6284b504d946 https://www.reuters.com/article/us-people-polanski-idUKKBN25L2L1
  3. Today we are beginning to hear rumblings of my least favorite thing on social media; bad correlations (see the tweet in the next reply for an example). For example, "if Will Smith is forgiven by Hollywood for assault why can't they forgive person X (used to defend everyone from Roseanne to Mel Gibson). We all know that's not how public perception works. We all know people in all professions can have a variety of opinions. We all know that we can only be responsible for our own attitudes and beliefs. And we all know the role of intersectionality in the perception of these events. So, stop the "hot takes" based on people totally unconnected in time and space to this event. There is no rhetorical logic to those arguments.
  4. Just for fun, from a psychodynamic point of view, I would say that Monica's abandonment as a child caused her to avoid intimacy by only seeking unavailable men. She wanted Rick during her marriages to both Jeff and Alan because he was unattainable, and because she didn't need to fully commit to her marriage if she wanted someone else. Thus, she avoids re-experiencing the abandonment of her youth by never getting over involved with her spouse. I'm certain Gail Baldwin would agree with my analysis.
  5. I think what is often missing from this analysis is the fact that it will still be one of the highest rated live TV events this year; aside from sports. No other awards show or political event comes close. However did anyone find it weird that the show seemed to sponsored by cancer drugs rather than movie commercials? There were some movies, but mostly drugs and encrypted email commercials.
  6. The Will Smith slap seems like a classic example of impulses ruining the message. I've read a lot of support that Chris Rock shouldn't have made a joke about a medical condition. Well, if Will had allowed the joke to bomb, today we would be talking about what a jerk Chris Rock is for making fun of women, rather than seeing that awful photo everywhere of a 53 year old Will slapping a 57 year old Chris. More people on social media (including myself) could learn from this about how keeping your composure always wins. As they say in West Side Story, "stay cooley cool."
  7. agreed - guilty of just reading the headline (usually that's the whole story in the Post) but I did see this
  8. The NY Post already has pics of Will Smith and Chris Rock making up at an after party. https://pagesix.com/2022/03/27/will-smith-chris-rock-to-work-out-slap-incident-after-oscars-2022/
  9. I think that's a good guess, but I wonder if it fits the promotion that the twist has "never been done before"? While certainly that is hyperbole, I don't think that filicide meets that standard.
  10. It was in true Bell-style to name a character Blade Bladeson. Humorously I wondered if his twin was so jealous because he took the only "cool" nickname in the family. I mean Rick is hardly as unique. And, Son Bladeson doesn't have the right ring to it.
  11. Jessica Chastain's speech was so amazing. It is no mystery to me that the Best Actress learned about humanity from her experience making her film and the Best Actor only gained a distorted perspective about himself.
  12. The Bladeson brothers saga is best left in the past
  13. Yeah Rick, and who is going to cook that candle lit dinner after you've both worked full shifts at the hospital? No wonder Monica found her way back to the Q mansion, Rick would have had her cooking and caring for every stray kid in Port Charles. She was probably thinking, "thank goodness I didn't have to listen to Blackie's drums or Mike's constant whining" She really dodged both a metaphoric and literal bullet with that relationship.
  14. I was thinking about this clip the other day and it made me wonder if Monica was telling the truth? (a) I don't think Rick was enough of a cad to tell Monica how Leslie was in bed, (b) Leslie had a more varied sexual past, so she may have actually been more skilled, and (c) Monica knew exactly how to get Leslie's proverbial goat by making her feel old and dull. Also, Monica was not exactly a good judge of passion considering she booted cutie-pie for Jeff for a dullard like Rick. gh.mp4
  15. I hadn't watched it for weeks, so I forgot how much I really enjoy the show. It looks amazing, the fashions have always been on point, but the food in this episode looked incredible, and now that they have extras back on set, the manor is finally filled with staff. People who watch DAYS and complain about the low production values would love seeing what the CW can do with a couple more bucks. I still feel like the low point is the need to tie up most of the stories each week. Sammy Jo's ups and downs with Culhane feel very predictable. And there's a repetitive nature to having two characters having an argument in the penultimate act and then resolve it toward the end (like this week with Jeff and Dom). On the other hand, Daniella is knocking it out of the park with the doppelgänger story. It is such an old soap troupe (including there being no details on how they use the bathroom). However, Daniella has always had an ability to play multiple layers. She seems kind and funny one minute, but can easily turn to cunning warrior. So, she's the prefect choice for this story, and her southern accent was convincing. Can someone catch me up as to what happened with Alexis's murder trial and Adam's youth cure?
  16. @Franko I've never heard of that book I did some quick google-ing. Bobby seems to win the prize for most frequent bridesmaid/attendant. Of course, she stood up for Laura's wedding (despite their mutual dislike), and she was there for Terri, Felicia, Celia, Anna, and most of Carly weddings. Sam seems to come a close second given that she is usually at Alexis, Sonny, and Robin's weddings
  17. Terry's choice of Tania as a bridesmaid seems random It's sort like when Claudia was Laura's bridesmaid (at her first wedding to Luke) and then they hardly ever shared another scene together. I wish someone would do a deep dive into the most forgettable wedding party maids or groomsmen of Port Charles.
  18. There are at least two iconic scenes of Terri singing that spring to mind. 1) It is day of her wedding in Laureltown, Anna is at the train station trying to get to the chapel to warn Terri that something is wrong in this little town, when Terri (under the unexplained influence of the local tainted water supply) begins walking down the main street, in her huge puffy wedding gown, belting out how Amazing Grace had saved a wretch like her 2) Later, when living at Brownstone, Terri bursts into song and somehow the gift of her voice cures Dr. Tony's impotence and saves his marriage to Bobby. In a very odd scene the next morning Tony thanks Terri for helping to cure him. BUT give it up for @Vee Who could forget the cheesiest pop star of all - Sean Donnelly's long lost and soon forgotten son Connor? (cued up to my favorite spot)
  19. What does it mean that there's been 2 RHONY castmates on WWHL in the past two weeks? Eboni was on last week and Luann is on tonight. Now, certainly Eboni has a show to promote on CBS and Luann was recently in news for disorderly conduct in a gay bar. But, I can't help but wonder if this a testing of the waters for a RHONY return to filming after it has been on pause for so many months? I would be pleased to see it return. To me, they are the funniest, cringiest, and most intriguing cast of housewives (except for Atlanta, and maybe Potomac or SLC, but definitely better than BH or OC)
  20. Agreed that they totally wasted the character and the possibilities for conflict. It makes so much more sense that the Forresters would be concerned about reviews in the press rather than competition from other fashion houses, or knock-off firms. The press can make or break the reputation of a high fashion company, and it is a shame that B&B has rarely capitalized that source of conflict. I mean Versace doesn't care if someone if knocking off their prints at TJ Maxx (despite that one scene in House of Gucci), but they put a lot of resources into getting good press at WWD, W, and Vogue. That being said, it also feels like a missed opportunity that they've never done a story about licensing agreements. Halston and Bill Blass lost so much clout when their licenses were sold to lower price manufacturers, and I think that is an easy concept to convey to an audience. So, it seems like a shame that there was never a story about someone trying to make a Logan perfume. Rather than the unrealistic stories about them spinning off their own teen and swimwear divisions, it should have been how to hold onto the FC image in an expanded market.
  21. Thank you both for the correction and I am sorry to befuddle you, but I keep watching all of these episodes on Youtube where all he does is lay by the pool day and night.
  22. I get why we didn't get a set for Ridge's office until years into the show, dude was always lounging at his parent's pool while Thorne, Brooke, and his Mom told him what a prize he was.
  23. That's amusing because I was racking my brain trying to remember Lisa's connection to the nuns, but it was Jenna who had history with the nuns. I've totally confused them because they played such similar plot purposes.
  24. Does the two thousandth appearance of B&B actors propping up this failed talk show count as a celebration? At least I hope there's a cake.
  25. I would say it was the latest divorce (perhaps she should have switched to email earlier and spent more on makeup and less on fan mail?): In court papers obtained by RadarOnline.com, Deidre claims that her monthly salary from her corporation, Panache was more $28k a month. Emphasis is on the word WAS. The income and expense court document states, "The primary source of Ms. Hall's income in 2008 was from her work on the television program, "Days of Our Lives." As this Court knows, in mid-December of last year, Ms. Hall was terminated from that employment....due to her termination from "Days of Our Lives" she is going to have to utilize the assets she has accumulated and the income generated by those assets to maintain her and the children's lifestyle." The court papers also reveal that Deidre has spent over $7,000 on make-up, $6,000 on fan mail and photos.
