  1. Chris himself comments on the video above posted to Instagram on 2/1/23 that the network asked him to stop stuffing his speedo
  2. Yes, but agreed that he was no match for Sue Ellen. Dusty, JR, and Cliff were men, and Peter was a boy. However, it was really that he had a crush on her, she only reciprocated twice.
  3. OK, I kind of buy Kayla signing a contract without reading it, but Kate's been in the biz for too long to fall for those shenanigans. Factually, I guess they all signed a blank document, but they were awfully quick to trust a group of ghosts. Also, I wonder if Marlena's age wasn't mentioned in her obit because if it has taken two weeks to advance two days in the Salem universe, perhaps in that timeline she's still in her 30s because they would age slower as well. Finally, if Li and Wendy come from a rich family, why don't they have nicer accommodations?
  4. What am I misunderstanding here? I like Kandi, and her life prior to Xscape was scandalous (she slept with father and son producers, and formed a coalition to boot out members of the band). But, why are we getting a sort of second season of their reunion? Watching middle aged women touring third rate venues while trying to remember choreography is not intriguing to me. https://deadline.com/2023/01/swv-xscape-the-queens-of-r-and-b-stars-clash-trailer-bravo-limited-series-1235246160/ To invoke the legend of Nene, what does Kandi have that makes Bravo give her another spin-off every year?
  5. So, there are a couple of contextual issues to consider as well. Daytime writers didn't join the WGA until 1980s, and the ruling on characters was not in place until the 1990s, so anything prior to those dates would not qualify for residuals for character creation. Also, a writer would have to submit to WGA in order to get the money, and there may be circumstances where a writer would avoid getting into that situation, such as wanting to maintain a relationship with a network or production company. But, it also accounts for why B&B has maintained it's head writer who is associated with the production given that he is eligible for WGA residuals for overseas replays of his episodes.
  6. Is this the same Joseph Hardy who later produced the disastrous period of General Hospital from 1989-1991 before the second return of Gloria Monty?
  7. Robyn's going to be on WWHL on Sunday which usually tapes the Wednesday before, so that's something to look forward to. I wonder what Andy's tone will be like? Also, big fan of Mizrahi and I hope we get him in a new fashion project soon.
  8. I suspect Ava's not going to kill Nikolas (he'll be killed by Heather for trying to hurt Esme), but Ryan's body is going to be found on Spoon Island after trying to kidnap her, so Ava will need Austin to help her get rid of the body, which will set up an Ava/Austin romance that I am not looking forward to. And they scheme together to frame Mason for the crime. Reminder: I am worse at predicting GH plots than Sylvia Browne on Montel
  9. I hope since the previews and PR keep using qualifying terms like "Bill's supposed love for Sheila" that there is another twist coming.
  10. This was funny to me because on GH this week it feels like it has taken four days to cover one morning in the lives of the citizens of Port Charles. Since Monday every scene has ended with people saying, "gotta go, it's time for Britt's memorial..." But, in the end, one could hardly blame Laura and Nik for being late because the whole thing lasted for about 10 minutes. Hardly enough time to question why General Hospital has an image of Lila Quartermaine on it's memorial wall of dead hospital staff. At least Edward was on the Board of Directors. And where's legendary board member Amanda Barrington's picture? Remember how she dressed in a matching coat and hat ensemble for every meeting?
  11. I don't know what is unhygienic about a bare midriff, but the weirdest thing about Salem Airport is that nobody ever gets picked up at the terminal, they just appear in the square, usually without any luggage...
  12. I'm confused. When SOD previews that Ashley is returning home, where does she live the rest of time and how does she have time to drop in to Genoa City whenever inspiration strikes?
  13. I had the same thought. If anything, historically, Tony was closer to Marlena than Anna. But, I opined that she was doing it because everyone else is dead or out of town. It seems superfluous because IRL John, Belle, and Eric would be the ones to speak, but maybe there were multiple eulogies planned? Yeah, that set defies logic like the Tardis on Dr Who it expands to fit all who enter. I still don't get why Wendy hasn't gotten her own place yet? And where is Henry's room? Once Anne Milbauer left University Hospital it has become a very liberal workplace
  14. I get your point, but the ratings do not support your thesis. While RHoSLC is down this season, the variability is not statistically significant, which means that it is due to chance versus audience rejection And season 12 of RHoBH, (which was certainly not my favorite), was also a ratings success RHOBH Season 12 hitting a series high in total viewers in the ratings. According to Nielsen, Episode 10 earned a 0.26 in the P18-49 demo and 1,212,000 viewers, up over the year prior (0.30 / 1,138,000) That doesn't even take into account DVR viewers or Peacock. So, while we complain they're still raking in the dough which gives very little reason for change. If anything the expansion to Miami and Dubai demonstrate that they are committed to the format. And Peacock's decision today to use Andy for the Traitor's Reunion suggests that they are committed to him as the face of the network. All of that is to say, our opinions may be valid, but we should be careful toward believing that there is universal agreement based on social media feedback when it often doesn't reflect the actual audience support.
  15. I hate to criticize because I know that Spaudingfield must put a lot of effort into their character guides, but the recent ones have contained less information about the history of the characters and it is more like a "greatest hits" compilation. As we move further and further away from the cancellation, I think there is an opportunity to preserve the memories. But, if soap historians are unfamiliar with the source material I think it requires more context in order to be a useful resource. That being said, every time someone mentions re-running old soaps on streaming, I always think that my preference is for this type of edited format, rather than trudging through daily episodes. To me that would be like watching a comedian and knowing the punchline before every joke. To those who may feel the need to respond about the expense, this is just an opinion, a wish, an idea. Call me when you buy P&G and need to complain about the cost of the archive. Until then, I don't really care about anyone's supposed expertise on this issue.
  16. Chad as a doe-eyed romantic toward Stephanie was a sticking point for me this week. I enjoyed the friendly chemistry between Jack and Chad, it would be nice to have them in each other's orbit more often, maybe even in the business realm. But, his whole approach to Stephanie where he was hesitant to tell her that he liked her seemed immature for the character. I feel like past-Chad would have confidence and try to sweep Stephanie off her feet, not constantly be asking if she is sure or looking for reassurance that she likes him too. It may just be that to me Chad looks older than Stephanie and Alex, so his innocence made him feel jejune, but I think that triangle should be based on Chad's sophistication versus Alex's lack of inhibition. If both guys are always ga-ga over their gal pal, then the tone seems off.
  17. Regardless of who wrote what and when, I am enjoying the Xander/Gwen and the Eric/Sloan banter. First of all it is a refreshing change on DAYS for characters to engage in dialogue rather than ranting to themselves in public spaces. I appreciated Xander's realization that Sarah was only attracted to him as a bad boy and Gwen likes him for who he is, that makes for an interesting triangle. And, for once in a long time, a male romantic lead is allowed to have some insight and not just bounce around from woman to woman like an idiot (eg Brady). I also appreciate that Eric knows Slone's faults but he is willing to talk it out, and not judge her, because they have fun together and she had been reliable toward him. DAYS circa 2010 would have had Sloan try to hide her true nature, but this writing staff is willing to have characters that are neither just good or bad. The Gabi/Stefan/Chloe stuff is stupid. I don't get why he is being de-programmed in the basement of his house, where apparently anyone can walk in and hear them. I don't feel like Stefan was distinctive enough as a character (with the recast and the change in tone) before he was resurrected, and now he doesn't seem very bright. Also, Gabi's devotion to Stefan was not well established given that she moved on rather quickly after his death. Lastly, where's Jada in all of this? I hope she doesn't get stuck with Rafe. She showed so much promise when she first appeared and I like her as a foil for Nicole and Gabi. But, she needs more screentime and a talk-to to develop the character.
  18. I second this. It also seems like they missed an opportunity to make her a specialist character, doctor, chemist, PR, she needs something to add value to the cast rather than just being a romantic lead. I mean Abby and Lily as high school educated power-brokers is ridiculous, so it would be nice to have a woman outside of the business realm. I also wish they wrote her with a bit more humor, she is joining this family that is totally nuts as an outsider, and would have been fun to have her react more often.
  19. Pejoratives aside... You could certainly tell yesterday's show was written for Peacock. It has been awhile since I've watched an episode of a soap with two love scenes. No skin, but Chad's choreography between Stephanie's legs was quite provocative, and Xander's underwear-laden monologues were intriguing (the only euphemism I could muster at 8am) This is a huge 180 from the Reilly-DAYS of everyone talking to themselves and women being punished for having hedonistic desires.
  20. The happiest housewife in America today has got to be Brandi, because her stuff blew over in less than 24 hours thanks to Robyn.
  21. Apparently it is bad luck to be cast as a character named Allie in 2023, straight to recurring on both Y&R and DOOL. Unless your real name is Alley (as in Mills) who was able to play scenes on both B&B and GH recently.
  22. Also killing off Nikolas gives a reason to renew the animosity between Spencer and Ava, over the inheritance, which creates more conflict between him and Trina who is close to Ava. BTW, I still don't know how or why Victor was able to negotiate the terms of the Nikolas's divorce, but whatever at this point because his day are clearly numbered as well once the Old Squad sets their plan in motion. It sucks for Laura to have no kids left on screen, but Genie Francis plays sorrow well.
  23. Admittedly my track record on predictions is worse that Miss Cleo. I thought Steve Burton would get vaccinated and I thought Chad might have killed Abby on DOOL. But, I believe all the signs are pointing to the end of Nikolas. The loss of Nikolas elevates the status of Ava, who has already been given Spoon Island. It creates an inheritance war between Spencer and Esme. And it could contribute to the downfall of Victor. Which is why I think he's going to get the hook very soon as a certain psychotic mother tries to protect her pregnant daughter from harm.
  24. I was reading the updates and it looks like Lindsay Arnold was put on recurring, but there is no mention of her actually leaving. Of course, it is ironic that she appeared on screen for five episodes straight in her first week on recurring. I'm a fan of allowing these younger characters to have some time to grow. For me, daytime is filled with far too many 40-somethings characters stuck in stories that portray them as perpetual adolescents. Wendy, Sloan, and Stephanie are young professional women who fill a gap in terms of the need within the cast for a romantic hero and an antagonist. I like that they are sexy without guilt, and are more complex than Gabi or Nicole are written. I still recall early Kristen Alphonso being very green on screen, with a thick mid-Atlantic accent, and Stephen Nichols had a limited set of acting skills, similar to RSW, so I tend to be forgiving of soap actors during their first contract.
  25. With Dr Oz gone (thank goodness), Racheal Ray is rumored to be over, and Dr. Phil is done, it is the end of the Oprah-influencers on daytime. Her legend continued nearly a decade after her last show, which is pretty incredible.
