  1. The thing with Haley is they’re not writing her as intentionally malicious, she’s being written as more naive.
  2. This is why it’s so important to let new soaps develop and get off the ground. There’s lot of kinks to be worked out when you’re starting up and have to do things at the pace the daytime soaps do. A lot of these newbie kinks will be worked out over time.
  3. Ms. Tunie is amazing here and this is proof why she was needed to lead this ensemble:
  4. I won’t be able to watch live today, so looking forward to everyone’s thoughts!
  5. I often get a very “theatre kid” in high school vibe from her. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but she can be very showy as an actress.
  6. Dani is defined by her ex-husband’s affair(s) right now. I’m waiting for that to settle to see what type of character she really is. KM is not the most subtle actor (she wasn’t in any of her previous roles either). She can be very surface level and I am going to need to see her play more layers eventually.
  7. At least the GH stars that MVJ wrote for have shown their support like Laura Weight and Lisa Locicero.
  8. In all fairness, if Les Moonves was still at CBS, none of this was likely to happen. George Cheeks supported this project from day one and had already told Sheila Ducksworth that they were toying with the idea of a new soap before she brought the idea of a black-led soap to him. The CBS/NAACP joint venture, which Ducksworth oversees and is responsible for leading this, was the result of the horrific George Floyd murder. That’s to take nothing away from Rowell’s activism - it did help plant a seed. She was just unlucky dealing with execs who were ignorant or unsupportive. Ducksworth was lucky to be in a position of power with people who supported her.
  9. Looks like there was a premiere party in Atlanta for the cast and crew. Michele Val Jean went to Atlanta help celebrate! From Julie Hanan Carruthers’ IG: https://www.instagram.com/share/BAEO3EApe7
  10. For those wondering if Victoria Rowell had any recent reaction:
  11. It makes sense why there appeared to be a ton of P&G executive representation at the Paley Center last week (CBS too obviously). Both sides seem extremely invested in this project. The cost of filming in Georgia, and CBS and P&G likely splitting costs may be the reason for much of the opulence we’re seeing (especially in comparison to the other daytime soaps).
  12. What’s interesting is that CBS and P&G have a joint credit at the start of the episode.
  13. They've had that circular logo for years (it's the logo they've used the most for other things). We're still trying to figure out what the candle light means and if it's a GL reference, lol. @janea4old - Here it is in colour as it appeared after the end credits and after the Georgia logo.
  14. I see it after the Georgia logo, and it ends with the NAACP logo.
  15. The fact CBS and P&G are dishing out for real music leads me to believe this show has a certain amount of care and attention that the other soaps on the air just don’t have. I never thought we’d ever hear real popular music on a daytime soap again.
  16. Even though she later had that recurring role on that failed CBS primetime show, CBS was included on that lawsuit she filed a few years ago that was dismissed. People don’t easily forget things like that - so it’s possible it was a consideration when looking at contract actors for the show. Or she simply did not want to shoot in Atlanta for an extended period of time. They probably also realize she’s worth more to them as Drucilla - but as long as Steven Kent is there, that won’t be a possibility.
  17. I think when the show was first announced she said a quick comment on an IG story about this being progress, but nothing else since that I can recall. I also don’t think she was considered for a role in the original cast, so that’s that.
  18. Yeah, Julie Hanan Carruthers, and Tamara Tunie talked about how a lot of the production crew hadn’t done daytime or any soap before. They had to build an infrastructure from scratch in Atlanta where daytime soaps have never been produced out of before. I think that’s what’s giving the show a slightly non-traditional soap look and editing.
  19. The cast and crew did this cute happy premiere day video: https://www.instagram.com/share/BBOhgUpF4Y

  21. It just feels like Y&R drags because Josh Griffith’s writing is so damn boring…
