  1. Marla’s intro definitely had the longest round of applause of the night, if i’m correct....
  2. Patsy Palmer is coming back as Bianca for a short stint later this year.
  3. Of course, Lauralee famously had this response, Was SB even interested in keeping TL? It never felt like he really caught on as Mason..
  4. "Dwindling?" Really? I know he was upset over Bell's nepotism with trying to make Cricket happen, but was Jack really starving for screentime as character? From what I've seen of Lester as Mason, it didn't seem like that role was the best fit for him.. I wonder how he felt when Bergman joined and started winning Emmy's for the role he had originated...
  5. Pat Falken Smith intrigues me - she first gained success at DAYS, but she was largely following Bill Bell's outlines during her first stint there and her writing style was very much in Bell's vein. Flash forward to GH, where she and Monty took a vastly different approach (albeit, with some of the classic/traditional soap troupes) and she would later bring much of that same style back to DAYS with her at a later stint. We just won't talk about her stint at RH, a soap that was seemingly all wrong for her... If one were to describe PFS's writing style, how would it it be described based on where she first gained notoriety (DAYS) to the peak of her career (GH) and everything else in between? I do know before he died, Gordon Russell was supposed to transfer over to GH from OLTL. I wonder how he and Monty would have faired working together...
  6. It's still deeply sad to think that a GL episode from the early 90's (during a Republican presidency no less) is still a hell of a lot more contemporary than any daytime soap on the air right now. Though the ABC soaps got all the credit for being "young, hip, and contemporary" - I think Nancy Curlee and company wrote a very contemporary soap during their era, within a very traditional structure and foundation.
  7. JFP didn't kill off Alan, that was all Guza and approved by Frons. JFP was just the messenger who broke the news to Stuart. At that point, JFP had very little creative input on stories - Guza pretty much had free reign. That wasn't like when JFP fired Ellen Parker at GL to free up budget to hire Justin Deas.
  8. That was a horrendous arrangement of 'Like A Prayer.' That wasn't a well put together presentation - I wonder who is her creative director for this era, that person should be fired ASAP.
  9. Much like SD herself, they knew Brenda was only capable of playing herself. 😉
  10. I will say that about Culliton as a HW - clearly, his strengths are writing scripts, but he has a lot of passion for the genre and even if the stories didn't always work, his passion still showed when he was a HW. Whether that be at AW, ATWT, AMC, or even GH.
  11. Isn't Schitt's Creek a Canadian production though and produced by the CBC?
  12. Regardless how the reboot turns out and what avenue they take, I question whether or not there's really an audience for it. Nostalgia can only get you so far, and it's easier to digest with sitcoms vs. hour-long dramas/soaps. It's not like the original series is all over syndication and new generations since the initial have a huge interest in it. The CW spin-off fizzled quite rapidly, even though it ran 5 seasons as well. Most people who initially watched in the 90's have also probably moved on to more sophisticated fare, given all the options available.
  13. Ron is not going to listen to ideas from other people though. You know he always writes with the mindset that he's 100% right all the time.
  14. Tiffani and Jennie were close for a number of years after the original show ended, it seems they only fell out during the last couple of years. It’s a shame as Val is the only character that was allowed to call Kelly out on her hypocritical bullish!t and get away with it. Tiffani was also friends with Jeannie’s ex-husband. I wonder if they fell out because Jennie perceived Tiffani to be more supportive of her ex-husband than her during their divorce. I think the poster was referring to Jeannie’s divorce as Tiffani is still married and had never been divorced.
  15. I think this will be lucky to have a full season, to be honest...
  16. Imma need some Tiffani Amber Thiessen/Val sprinkled in. Didn't she and Jennie Garth have a real-life falling out a few years ago? They should use that!
  17. The show won the BAFTA yesterday, John Yorke accepted.
  18. Deeper & Deeper, some of the more house-oriented remixes for Fever, Ray of Light, Human Nature, Vogue? Just throwing out uptempo-ish songs, because she's never really sung about going to the beach or taking a dip in the pool, lol. The rejected Bedtime Stories track 'Your Honesty" has a cool 90's vibe, if you want to add something more obscure. She became more of an albums artist in the 90's, so it's a strange decade to pick from (though artistically her most diverse and probably best).
  19. Another new song:
  20. Has DAYS completely done away with rehearsal given the abhorrent production schedule? I know the actors at Y&R, B&B, and GH still talk about having some sort of rehearsal time, but maybe not to the extend of the 'good old days.'
  21. I also think he may have stayed too long at that point and may have been burnt out. I guess he violated one of his own "rules." As much as consistency is important on a long-running soap, so is change IMO. The issue is no one at P&G was doing any long-term planning and or had any consideration what would become of ATWT when Marland was no longer there - whether it be health related or if he simply left on his own accord. Marland also had such a unique style, so it was always going to be impossible to emulate him, but talent is out there, and no one in in daytime is interested in cultivating it and haven't been for years.
  22. And Genie still holds that Ceara is the best soap role she's ever played, but it seems that character became a muddled mess pretty early on as well. Genie said Agnes was pretty involved in Ceara's creation, so I have to wonder if this character ever turned out the way Genie/Agnes anticipated.
  23. The fact that there hasn't been a truly brilliant/new HW in daytime since arguably Nancy Curlee at GL, who left the business over 25 years ago, says a lot about this genre...
