  1. Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. His friendship with John/Roman was fairly important. He was involved in a lot of stories with them-he was just not the lead. Soaps do need characters like that. Unfortunately it's glaring that he was a Black actor that could have lead his own stories. I thought JR did really well with the story in the mid 80's with Richard Cates and his brother getting killed.
  2. I think it also helped that Robin had been away for awhile. Robin had made significant changes in her life and it didn't make sense for her to be re-paired with Jason (even though I loved them!). Obviously, the chemistry was there as well so it worked. It didn't seem as forced as those other pairings. Jax/Sonny were hooking up with Hannah/Sam like 5 minutes after Vanessa Marcil left. Both women were clearly set up to fail being such obvious Brenda replacements so soon after her departure. Patrick wasn't set up to be a Jason replacement. I never compared Patrick to Jason. He was set up to be Robin's love interest which I think made a huge difference and they happened to be very natural together. It helps that KMc has had chemistry with everyone she has ever been paired with and JT is a charismatic natural performer as well.
  3. Yeah, I know Ron was going for 'what would the world be like if John/Marlena weren't together?' nonsense but it's not like they really explored why Kristen/John were together and John/Marlena weren't so what's the point? I feel like I am nitpicking on something I honestly enjoyed, but this movie wasn't really made for non-Days viewers so there were things that just didn't make sense like family stripping or Eric being a bum literally outside his family's pub or what was canon and what wasn't... Basically, it doesn't make sense to viewers or non viewers alike. It might have made more sense if it was Will's dream or something.
  4. I don't know why Ron seems to obsessed with this pairing. No one liked it that much at the time. It's not a thing. Sure, they still have good chemistry, but it was silly. Kristen would never just settle for running an Inn with John and John barely cared she was banging his son. Whatever. Plus, Drake H. is a handsome silver fox, but ED's Kristen looks amazing. No wonder she went for the younger, hotter version. Also, Sami wasn't weirded out by watching her own son strip? Nor was John? And Johnny wasn't weirded out by stripping with his own dad lol?
  5. I definitely think it would be a great time to bring Lexie back. I did like RJ, but I don't think she's unrecastable or anything. The show has recast much more iconic characters like Bo, Roman, Kristen, etc. and there are plenty of actress out there that could do Lexie justice. I wish they would bring Peter and Lexie back and revive the Dimeras because what we have now isn't what it could be.
  6. I liked it. It was entertaining. I enjoyed how much of the cast was used. It was just a little strange. It was a little confusing to figure out what world we were living in lol. Does Sami even care about Allie/Johnny-they didn't even interact much? Does Belle not exist? Why is Sydney so young? Did Marlena give up her practice to run the Pub? If EJ exists did the baby switch happen with Kristen? Why is Eric a bum outside his family's restaurant-no one noticed lol? I didn't realize Will was such an EJami shipper and wanted his baby momma to end up with Nick Fallon. It was fine for what it was, but it's definitely not something to think too deep about and I would have rather seen another set of Beyond Salem episodes.
  7. Lol! I thought it was pretty savage he wrote his own father running off to Antartica with Chloe. But of course Will would rather write for EJ lol.
  8. That's how I remember it too. Lexie was basically a good character until the baby switch. To be honest, Lexie wasn't used much at all back then. I remember that scene with Kristen vividly.
  9. I was assuming the affair never happened (since I don't think MM/Belle is in this) or Roman forgave her then died. But who knows? Because Isabella would have had to have died for him to marry Kristen since Brady is in this movie.
  10. Lol! That's what I get for working while watching Days! I just kept watching Shawn untie them while the volume was on low.
  11. Outside of everything on the show today, was anyone giggling at how long it was taking Shawn to untie one of John's rope bindings? He was trying to untie that knot for like an entire episode. He doesn't carry a pocket knife? And he didn't take off John's gag until the episode was half over lol. And then Belle untied it in one second lol. Was the devil keeping those knots together or is Shawn just super inept?
  12. I remember Polaha in the JFK movie lol. He was definitely an actor networks were trying to make happen for awhile. He was in all those Fox and CW shows that bombed (North Shore, Life Unexpected, The Ringer). I always liked him (I am the only person who loved The Ringer lol). Glad to see he's still working and they are still married. Julianne Morris is someone who I think would kill it on Hallmark as well. She has that perfect bland likability for that genre.
  13. Julianne Morris was/is gorgeous and very likable plus I thought she was a decent actress. Unfortunately she didn't pop off the screen with charisma and chemistry the way some actors do. Greta was either pushed way too much (the John, Hope, Bo, Gina, scar stuff ad nauseum), given horrible stories (GARDEN OF EDEN, Jack is fake gay), or given nothing (Eric/Greta romance, Austin/Greta romance). I definitely think she had the ability to be a long term heroine-the show just never found a niche for her. I think she could have worked well as a foe for Sami in the absence of Carrie, but the show really didn't have them interact much. Greta's coronation was probably the best 'event' Days did in that era though. It is surprising Greta never came back especially with all the Beyond Salem mentions. Does Julianne Morris still act?
  14. I haven't heard anyone say it was cancelled, though you would assume lol. I mean, now they can do a sequel of Marlena's 2nd possession.
  15. Oh good. They've been gone awhile. I kept thinking why didn't Sami call Johnny when she was talking about all the people she tried to call while kidnapped. He obviously could have let EJ know and I think EJ would have believed his own kid lol. This isn't spoilery, just my speculation, but are Johnny/Chanel going to come back married? I have to lol at the fact Johnny can just leave town for weeks at a time while he's supposed to be working on his movie and Chanel just opened a bakery. Poor Allie.
  16. The Parker stuff too? The Lucas/Chloe relationship? Kate/Chloe literally sharing the same lovers. Chloe being really weird about why she and Brady divorced and where he was at the time. Her being a prostitute for awhile lol I think it started with the High School nonsense and never got better. Besides, Kate/Victor tend to hate everyone their kids date outside of maybe Carrie for Austin. On a side note, WTH are Johnny/Chanel? Are they still in Italy? Shouldn't Johnny be in this Sami story?
  17. I am 100% sure there is a free trial for Peacock Premium for those who don't get it, so there is that option (I am not sure if I can link just google Peacock Premium free trial and it comes up). I actually get Premium and it's great if you like niche sports and totally worth it. It has some good movies and shows too. I use it for the figure skating coverage and if you are a fan of that sport it literally has everything and is the only way to get it live in the United States. So while this is a bummer for non-subscribers I think you can work around it by getting it free for a little bit.
  18. The OGPossession was the right story at the right moment in time. I have never been a fan, but it worked on the show for JER with it's Gothic feel and love story thread throughout. This is just camp for camp's sake. It's entertaining in a way, but it makes no sense. The whole Kristen seduction was ridiculous. Why would that break John/Marlena's love? What's was the actual point beyond having ED and the DH's share scenes? Nothing. I think you have hit the nail on the head. Ron has some good ideas and uses history and fan fave characters-it just gets very messy and certain stories are awful and the entertaining ones don't use a ton of logic. Anyhow, I think this is still a step forward for Days with the spinoffs and movies. I definitely don't think it's ready to be put out of it's misery in the way I have felt in years past.
  19. Well, once you get past the whole Saved by the Belle stuff the Langan era wasn't awful. I have never liked Belle much at all so it was hard for me to see her front and center and Lord knows I wanted to like Jarlena's kid. There was an odd obsession with John/Hope and tearing apart Bo/Hope and John/Marlena in a variety of oddball ways (ie Brady being the worst), but some stuff was really good like Sami's Execution story. Obviously, as @KLN said, there were a lot of misses, but there were some good stories among the mess.
  20. I would think it was supposed to be John at one point? That's what I assumed, but with John/Stefano being potential fathers of Greta and Hope's baby at the same time I don't even know what was happening back then. That whole Langan era was just odd. It was still trying to be JER's Days, but also so focused on the teens. I hated it at the time, but I think I was just spoiled from the 90's Unfortunately, Greta was just a bit of a dud of a character. I liked her, but she wasn't really anything memorable no matter how much the show pushed her for awhile.
  21. She was mentioned quite a bit in Beyond Salem so it's very possible she'll be back. I am surprised she never came back though with all the Princess Gina crap they have pulled through the years. Does it even matter at this point? Stefano is dead and John has plenty of kids. It wouldn't even be dramatic. Marlena took Paul and Leo being/potentially being John's kids without so much batting an eyelash, but I guess it deserves an ending lol. There was so much fuss and we didn't even get a conclusion. I thought she did say it wasn't John when she left though.
  22. I liked today's episode. It was a very entertaining non-Possession episode. Sami really makes everything better. Some thoughts that are silly- They brought back Phillip's fake leg lol. I thought that wasn't a thing anymore. You would think Sami would want to take a shower and change instead of running around town, but I guess she doesn't have a place to live, so? I have a really hard time believing Kate would be with a man who had a weekly bowling night. I have a hard time Marlena would as well. NVM, Grandpa John is probably on Roman's bowling team, but at least we know he's still badass. Why does the show make Roman so uncool? Lol! Was Lucas just running the pub because Roman was gone? Was Kate in charge? Does Roman not have employees? I actually think NB is doing a good job with this story and I have never thought NB was much of an actress.
  23. Right? Aside from the whole alcohol thing why can't Brady remember he was sober, getting John food at the Brady pub, and knocked out? Also Brady made an excellent point about being THAT intoxicated. He's not going to run around town killing sober people and making coherent drunk text threats. He would be passed out or easily subdued lol. I am not saying it couldn't happen in the heat of the moment, but he had to physically seek out Phillip and kill him with an alcohol level that's practically incapacitating. And should Shawn be telling Belle all this police business about her brother lol?
  24. I loved OC tonight and thought it was an excellent episode. This did feel to me like Heather was making very calculated, well thought out moves. Heather yelling at Gina and Shannon? Making them the bad guys (albeit briefly with Gina) and Terry and Heather 'forgiving' Nicole? Well played. Heather knows what she's doing acting like all's forgiven with Nicole then pushing her out behind the scenes and letting Gina/Emily back in. Her freak out with the initial news and pushing the cameras away makes me think she went upstairs, talked to Terry/producers, and made herself a gameplan that would benefit the Dubrows the most. It was smart, but none of felt genuine. I loved it anyway. That's why Heather is the queen.
  25. It's a shame because I think LW's curly hair is really beautiful and everyone on soaps has the same blown out hair. It might not fit everyday Carly, but if she's casual and at home I think it's fine. But I like when characters were glasses or ponytails and don't look sleek and 'perfect' to make them more real.
