  1. Thanks for posting this, @DaytimeFan. I've been watching Wimbledon since I was a little girl. In fact, I remember that '93 Wimbledon where Novotna was leading, thoroughly thrashing Graf for most of the match until she apparently started thinking about the fact that she was actually beating Graf (according to the commentators), who at that time was the most dominant player of her generation, and Novotna and her game proceeded to fall apart. That embrace extended by the Duchess of Kent to a virtually inconsolable Novotna was an act of kindness and simple warmth that illustrated the possibility that even aristocracy could show the compassion that most people watching from their seats wanted to show but were physically unable to. The great thing was that Novotna would return and eventually win the Wimbledon Ladies Singles title that she clearly coveted so much. That the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are taking over is no suprise as they've been attending for years now, they are fans of the sport. Serena once related a conversation she had with Prince William where he expressed admiration for Venus and stated that she was his favorite female player and Serena promptly stated that Prince Harry was her favorite royal. They both had a chuckle. Also, I could've sworn the camer showed a glimpse of the Duke of Cambridge napping during one of the Finals matches (I think it was the Ladies Singles Finals), so I think it's been a long slog for him and maybe he'd like to opt out of sitting in the royal box most days, sometimes for several hours at a stretch.
  2. Some Sanders supporters are calling him a sell out Meh, they called Warren a sellout, they call everyone a sellout. I got a newsflash for those folks, Bernie probably wouldn't have been in the Senate all these years (or elected office, for that matter) if he didn't engage in some form of compromise. Ideological purity doesn't exist in the U.S. Congress, or the Presidency, for that matter. The longer one stays in elected office, the longer one will have to engage with those whose ideas often differ from theirs.
  3. It's weird, Bernie endorsed Hillary today, yet I feel as if I'm hearing crickets right now. I probably shouldn't speak too soon, there might be an avalanche of think pieces dissecting their appearance togther in NH.
  4. I dunno, he comes from a tennis family. I read that his Mother, at one time, was a Top 10 tennis player so maybe he has a nest egg somewhere. Who knows maybe she's the U.S. version of Kim Sears? Something tells me these folks are not hurting for money like the rest of us. The age thing though, they seem awfully young, especially in this day and age when people tend to get married and have kids later on, after they've established themselves in their careers, but as I've said, perhaps Fritz is just not like most of us, maybe money and getting established on the tour is just not a concern for him
  5. I warned you all that July was the month of tennis weddings. Taylor Fritz at all of 19 years of age just got married.
  6. I actually like the dress on her. It's for the civil service, the church wedding is tomorrow. Considering the fact that they got into a gondola afterwards, I thought she was dressed appropriately (lol). Apparently, Andy and Serena did not have the traditional dance at the Champion's Ball like she had with Novak last year. I guess Andy's got two left feet. http://nypost.com/2016/07/12/andy-murray-wasnt-drunk-enough-to-dance-with-serena-williams/
  7. July seems to be the month that tennis players choose to wed. Apparently, Ana Ivanovic and German footballer Bastian Schweinsteiger got married today in a civil service. The church ceremony is supposed to occur tomorrow.
  8. Video from the Wimbledon Ball:
  9. Feli is good looking but I wouldn't call him "my type". That doesn't mean I can't appreciate the way he wears those very snug shorts. I was going to say 'I wouldn't kick him out of bed' but apparently he's already been in way too many women's beds as it is, if you believe what his soon to be ex-wife says. I personally find Fernando Verdasco the most physically appealing (his game OTOH is all over the place), the rest do very little for me, although I've enjoyed watching Rafa play, especially at the beginning and zenith of his career. Gosh, I hope this Men's Final doesn't bore me. In addition to Serena winning her 22nd Major title, yesterday was Dominika Cibulkova's wedding day. I couldn't resist posting this picture.
  10. I saw that episode and that didn't show them cosummating their relationship. Steve was always ranting about Craig because he and Craig had bad blood and Steve continued to distrust Craig, period. He also knew that Craig was still pining for Sierra, so Steve was convinced that Iva would get terribly hurt. Steve and Iva were very close, Steve felt a personal duty to protect Iva, starting from when one of his employees practically tried to jump Iva's bones and Steve caught him, threw him out and fired him. Steve and Iva were so close, that Meg was somehow convinced that he and Iva were having an affair and used to insinuate this to Iva several times (while throwing the fact that Iva had already had an affair with her married boss, Tad Channing). It's just strange that on a soap opera where I even remember seeing Iva's mother, Emma, in bed with her boyfriends (John, that same year) I don't ever remember a scene with Iva and Craig in bed together, where I've even seen Craig and Lucinda that one time they were together?? I just assumed that maybe Iva's uncertainty about Craig's love for Sierra and her previous rape, prevented Iva from taking that next step with Craig, which would explain why Craig was so hot to get married to Iva (he wanted to consummate the physical part of the relationship). Even when there was a flashback of their relationship that Iva recalls after her fall, there are no scenes of her and Craig in bed together. Even though the scene of Craig and Sierra at the Foxwood Lodge is not on You Tube, we see it in flashback a few times, mostly Craig recalling it in slow motion. and because of Bryant we definitely have the proof. Also, there is a sinister scene between Craig and Lucinda, where Lucinda implies that Craig knows nothing about Iva's sexual proclivities and he had better find out before he gets intimate with her. I just always assumed but given Iva's history and her distrust that she was Craig's real love, I wouldn't be surprised if they stopped short of that final step. I wouldn't be surprised if Marland purposely left that vague because of where he wanted to go with Iva's character in the future.
  11. On a totally different subject, I'm watching an episode from 86 (yes, again) and I know there are quite a few missing episodes but did Craig and Iva ever make love? For awhile, I thought no and then recently, I assumed they did but seeing these episodes again, I see no visual proof based on what I've seen on You Tube. I'm just curious.
  12. Of course I am! It's a tremendous achievement but Serena was already great regardless! It was nice to see Serena get all the accolades and the affable trophy presentations, Margaret Court's sour expression and that long walk through the corridors at the AELTC. I enjoyed the whole thing. I was watching some of the doubles, including the Williams Sisters win over Babos and Shvedova. Really fun match. Also, the all French Men's Doubles Championship, even some of the Boy's Doubles- I've really become a fan of Felix Auger-Aliassime over the past year or so.
  13. Yes, @Soapsuds, I distinctly remember Judy Murray's nickname for Feli and her noticeable pause when once asked who she'd cheer for in a match between Deliciano and Andy . I'm guessing she might have a twinkle in her eye knowing that Feliciano is back on the market. I'm guessing a lot of folks will have a twinkle in their eyes about this.
  14. There's a WETN thread? Good to know.
  15. I came across this and thought you OLTL fans may recognize her. Talking PBS's Arthur, Soap Operas, and Donkeys with Playwright Cusi Cram
  16. People are arguing about Hubbard but I've seen no cases that justify voters sleeping on Kathryn Hays. Was her acting just too subtle and nuanced for Daytime voters?
  17. @Soapsuds, I was hoping Venus would win Wimbledon too . At least both Sisters won their doubles match and are in the SFs. Come Monday, Venus will be up to #7. The Williams are still very much representing U.S. tennis as Madison Keys is now going to drop out of the Top 10 and she just got in, like 2 weeks ago, I think.
  18. They need to not use taxpayer dollars for this crap. It's a waste of time and energy and money. Between obstructing the Supreme Court Justice nomination process, trying to dismantle ACA every few days and blocking gun reform, doesn't the House/Senate GOP aim to do anything constructive anymore?
  19. As someone who lived in NYC during part of Bloomberg's mayoral tenure, I honestly could not vote for him. He did some things well (i.e. beautification in NYC, most quality of life issues were pretty good and at least he didn't exacerbate the issues between police and the community as Giuliani did) but despite promises to lower the rate of homelessness, the homelessness problem (many of the city's homeless population have mental/drug addiction illness, which is manifesting itself now) exploded under his watch, and many people left the city because it became very unaffordable for many and affordable housing diminished while luxury housing expanded. In fact, I was just reading that there is now a glut of apartments catering to luxury tenants, which is why some construction of luxury high-rises has slowed, even though there were contracts in the pipeline pre-de Blasio. The Bloomberg administration encouraged Rich Russians and Saudis with opaque financial/identity accounting to buy real estate in NYC inevitably driving up prices and eating up available square feet. JMO, but I think the failure of the sugary drinks initiative had much to do with Bloomberg's sometimes condescending and patronizing tone (he was the one who said that NYC could never have enough billionaires moving in because everyone benefits, while never explaining how). Philadelphia just successfully passed it's own tax on sugary drinks. One thing that the mayor of Philadelphia did was to not try to lecture people about how this needs to happen for their own good, he simply told them, the city intended to use the tax dollars to help fun pre-K and education and health programs for low income residents. I can respect Bloomberg's stance and actions on gun control reform but they have unfortunately been mostly unsuccessful but for all of our sakes, I hope he's successful with this. I remember about a year or so ago, he was mulling a move to London. I wonder where he stands on the Brexit issue?
  20. I was actually happy for Tsonga who had a strangely poor record against Isner, Jo needed to break that duck! I had always thought that Sloane vs. Svetlana was a toss up because while Sloane has done better on grass than Sveta, Sveta had some confidence building wins this year and having won big titles, Svetlana had that confidence that even down 2-5 in the third, she was not out of it until GSM. Sloane got tentative and waited for Svetlana to make a mistake and Svetlana, sensing Sloane's nerves closing out the match, just got every ball back in the court and tested Sloane and Sloane faltered under the pressure that she was being put under. By the time, Sloane started to try to get aggressive again it was 5-5 in the third, then experience took over and the more experienced player took the reins. From what I saw, it was a good quality match.
  21. So glad I no longer subscribe to cable!
  22. I meant to post this some time ago but I randomly came across this article with Tiffani Caesar (Nella Franklin #1) and marveled at how great she looks. The article talks about her relationship with her father Adolph Caesar and what it felt like to lose him so suddenly. http://www.iloveoldschoolmusic.com/omg-see-how-this-talented-color-purple-actor-suddenly-died-years-ago/3/
  23. Of course it was going to be Sam Querrey LMAO!!! It only makes sense that the guy that @Soapsuds and I are always busting on would be the one to tear down Nolé's hopes and dreams for the Calendar year Slam. I knew it wasn't going to be one of the big guys, and it would have to be a total shock! Good for Sam though!!!
  24. Apparently Chris Noth was on one or two episodes of As The World Turns where he played some character name named Lucky? It's around the time of the "Hello Barbara" episode but the actual episode featuring Noth does not appear to be on YT. The only reason why I found out is that his name is listed in the credits for the November 7, 1986 (the Stenbeck reveal) episode though I don't see him on the actual episode, so I assume it was probably before the previous episode. Does anyone remember this? I'm kind of curious...it sounds like he was playing a low-level criminal or something. Also, just randomly came across a picture of Don Billet from Playbill's website. I always wondered why they never tried to maybe have his character Bailey from the Crime Commission, retire and court Lisa at the show's finale. Billet and Eileen Fulton seemed to have really good chemistry. It would've been better than the ending that Lisa got at the end.
