  1. Ajla defeats Aiii-yah in three sets.
  2. The TV media tries to push cases like this out of the spotlight but let's face facts, if this perpetrator were Muslim, there would be wall to wall coverage everywhere day in and day out. The perp is a lone wolf terrorist, in the same mold as the profile of a lone wolf terrorist who is loosely connected with a group like ISIS. I see multiple similarities between the two. The victim, Timothy Caughman has been painted as a transient (seemingly to engender less sympathy and be easier to ignore/bypass), even though he is not and this article actually corrects this misrepresentation. For those of you who are fans of All My Children, Coming To America or The Haves and Have Nots, Shari Headley has a few moving words about Mr. Caughman in this article. A Man Who Hated Black Men Found a Victim Who Cared for Others
  3. And Ajla Tomljanovic was one game away from dismissing Elena "Aiya" Vesnina when the rains came last night.
  4. So, I read this article where Tiafoe says that when he was a set and 4-1 up in the second, he began to think about how exciting it would be to face Roger Federer in the next round and lost focus! Then he finally told himself that if he doesn't win this match that he's actually playing, he won't get to the next round to face Federer, so he gathered focus to finish out the match. From what I saw, it was definitely a loss of focus. I hope he works on fixing this going forward.
  5. Did that Beaches TV movie come out yet? Nia's got a few projects due out this year and she's a series regular in the Netflix Dear White People series. Lee Daniels productions tend to attract a lot of strife and static. I wonder when/if talent will start to avoid him.
  6. Some people call her CoCo VandeTrump. It's going to be intriguing to see whether McHale maintains her lead after the rain delay (whenever that is). She's been known to let a lead slip. Garbiñe may benefit from the delay and get better, let's face it, her game can't get much worse right now.
  7. I guess it's a common 'go to' because various people on social media have already been predicting that the GOP would do this. All day, in fact.
  8. Trump made it an enormous deal when he threatened other Republicans as well as telling them that if he didn't get the votes, it would be a big blow for his agenda going forward, yet he still couldn't cull the votes. For now, this will register as a big failure and also a knock against his ability to make the big deal (aka grand bargain) which he is supposed to be good at since he always boasts about his closing skills. Also in the context of governing, he's only put out a bunch of highly unpopular executive orders, most of which have been successfully challenged and have already flopped. All this combined with never-ending scandals. I don't care who you talked to, there's no way to spin this so that it's a good look for him. Oh, and his approval ratings, which we know are important to him (because, ratings) are in the dumps. Again, not a good look. Articles being written daily about how much he lies and him responding incoherently, giving the impression that he is totally unhinged. Just how long do people suppose he can go on like this? Honestly, even if you're optimistic (or pessimistic, depending on which side is up), how sustainable is this administration?
  9. I'm telling you, he thinks he's at the spa!
  10. @SoapsudsWhy don't those two fools in the commentary box shut the hell up though?! I'm tryna listen! LOL
  11. @Soapsuds You're my hero! I thought this clip had been scrubbed from the Internets, LOL.
  12. I like Coric but I suspect he's picking up Nolé's habit of using the on court trainer as his personal masseuse. At least he seems to be keeping his bedroom moaning in check. When he was lying on his stomach being rubbed by the trainer, he didn't moan this time-probably because a young lady was holding an umbrella over him and he likely didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable. I did notice that the umbrella holder switched off with another young lady. Either the first one's arm was getting tired and she needed reinforcements or the next umbrella holder was jealous and wanted a turn. Don't these guys ever learn?
  13. Yes, OMG! My stream was freezing and I don't know who I became more frustrated with, Frances or my damn ISP! He's young and hopefully he will learn to better capitalize on his opportunities, sooner rather than later. On a good note, at least Darian King closed out his match in two, although I don't know why he seemed to be having a series of arguments with the chair umpire.
  14. I bet Borna Coric and Marcel Granollers outdid him today. Normally, I can run the livestream in the background while I'm on the computer typing but today, I just had to close it out-- soo much noise!
  15. For years folks were trying to convince us that Paul Ryan was so smart and wonky and he can't even hold a press conference after his supposed healthcare bill tanked. Two postponements and then put off until further notice. So the Senate just voted 50-48 to allow ISPs to sell broadband user's personal data to marketing companies (stripping away the privacy protections that the Obama administration had put in place). None of my Senators are on the list but no surprise, all who did are Republican!
  16. The surge of women running for elected office looks to be a lasting legacy, ironically of this present administration. Roused by Trump, First-Time Female Candidates Eye Local Seats
  17. But, but but...her e-mails! US Officials: Info suggests Trump associates may have coordinated with Russians
  18. Of course the iguana now has a Twitter account. LOL.
  19. Taken out by little Dudi Sela, no less.
  20. Come to think of it, wasn't there an article in the NY Daily News that the FBI had been investigating a Russian gambling ring that was operating inside of Trump Tower in 2013? @Wendy That pup is adorable, by the way and his interaction with Joe Biden is very cute. In a way, it makes me even more wistful for Obama-Biden times, which seem like a much different, distant time. Those feel good times on Capitol Hill and in the White House now seem like a distant memory.
  21. Escobedo wins I briefly saw a few minutes of Haas/Vesely. The WatchESPN app only has one women's match streaming and it is the Bouchard/Barty match. I don't know why the CEO of the WTA coudn't get a better streaming deal. Steve Simon hasn't been doing a good job. at all.
  22. Got a chance to briefly see a stream of Escobedo vs. Evans. Escobedo is playing pretty well but did Evan's get a point penalty? Evans strikes me a somewhat trashy which is probably unfair to say but it's just his aura.
  23. Were there any broken racquets? I read that Paire was dancing on the edge of default in his match.
  24. Is Nunes trying to get people to demand that he recuse himself or something? I'm reading that apparently Nunes was on Trump's transition team? I mean, if that's the case, that invalidates his entire spurious argument. Smacks of desperation. Maybe this may explain some of it?
