  1. Too bad that approval ratings drop didn't happen in 2016 when Rubio was up for re-election. I don't know why folks keep electing him. SMH. Trump's being asked about this? Won't he just lie like he always does? I guess they gotta get the lie on record anyway.
  2. Bryton has shown he has the chops to be an adult character. Although his character has a bit more agency now, Devon could have so many more aspects to who he is. The same could be said for the Hilary character. Y&R holds back with them and it's very unfortunate, especially in an age where Black Panther and Get Out have proven that you can have Black characters driving story and people will gravitate toward it, if the writing is good. I don't know if soaps will ever figure this out.
  3. I was trying to be generous in my assessment of today's remaining daytime soaps but you're right. The stories are borderline superficial and lack depth. ATWT once explored the effects of a police shooting of a Black man by examining its aftermath on the relationships in his family. Thirty years later, there is no story like this. In the time of BLM, none of today's writers could be entrusted with writing a story that even mildly touches on a relevant issue. One of today's remaining soaps has a Black billionaire character who was known to drive a fancy sports-car but never got stopped once by the police or the highway patrol? In the Midwest? Whet??!
  4. Hope Hicks is likely lying about the degree of lies that she tells for the Liar-In-Chief. Speaking of lies that conservatives tell--
  5. A year or so ago, someone posted an episode from the 70s featuring Susan and Dan Stewart and it was pretty progressive as it seemed to highlight a discussion between the couple concerning whether to have an 'open marriage'. You don't even see such a thoughtful examination about a taboo topic being done with today's daytime soaps.
  6. A surprise to no one, at this point.
  7. Speaking of getting sued, former attorney general Eric H. Holder and the National Democratic Redistricting Committee are suing Wisconsin governor Scott Walker for the state's lack of initiative to hold special elections in order to fill empty positions withing the state's legislature. Eric Holder and the NDRC Are Suing Scott Walker
  8. To get sued is the most consistent part of this man's life.
  9. It was particularly funny how the rebooted U/D cast tried to suggest that their show was superior to Downton Abbey. I guess we know who had the last laugh there.
  10. Don't sell people short. There are people from different countries that know a great deal about American politics. If someone from another country can be knowledgeable, why not someone from another state? And some pundits turn out to be no more knowledgeable than the well-read person you talk to in the subway station. The political punditry has its place but I wouldn't take it as the end all, be all.
  11. LMAO. Stacey Dash is the living embodiment of Clueless. 'Clueless' actress Stacey Dash is running for Congress in California
  12. This isn't sexual assault but physical assault. I wonder how Locklear hasn't faced more severe charges yet. Heather Locklear Arrested for Domestic Violence, Battery on Police Officer
  13. Why am I confusing Rubio and Cruz?? Oh yeah, right, spineless GOP politicians who only use their ethnicity when it suits their political career. Hopefully people would read click the link and see that it's Texas. And hey, someone in Florida might also know who this candidate is and have some thought as well (*shrugs*). I'm just not as interested in getting a pundit's perspective this time around.
  14. +1 One of the reasons why I posed my question specifically toward boardmates who live in Florida is because I wanted to get away from the pundit press articles. Many of these press pundits staunchly state one thing, only to reverse their stance or pretend they never stated what was previously said anyway. They've all been practicing this special form of plausible deniability since the horrendous outcome of the 2016 election. I'm done with them being the first source of what's supposedly going on in the "grassroots".
  15. Congratulations to Frances for winning his first ATP title. The final wasn't of the highest quality with an injured opponent but Tiafoe had plenty of competition along the way!! I saw a tweet in German where Becker claimed that he was happy in his current position with the German tennis federation and although he thinks Sascha is highly talented, he's not looking to coach Zverev.
  16. Interesting interview with Serena conducted by Chanda Rubin for Tennis Channel.
  17. Boardmates from Florida: What's the word on Beto O'Rourke? What is your sense of him as a candidate? Democrat outraises Ted Cruz in Texas Senate race so far in 2018
  18. Have you ever seen the rebooted Upstairs, Downstairs? That was the first time I ever remember seeing Claire Foy. Other than that, I didn't really find the reboot to be all that good.
  19. Just saw that Rick Gates is expected to plead guilty.
  20. All of this talk about how supposedly armed authority figures would make schools safer but the armed deputy assigned to Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School hid behind a column and never entered the school! Sheriff: Armed deputy never went into school to engage gunman during shooting
  21. Billy Magnussen (Casey Hughes, ATWT) is set to appear in a movie called Game Night which is being described as a comedy and a thriller. https://www.buildseries.com/video/5a9061c4e0fa1764f5754f1f/
  22. This is so pathetic.
