As The World Turns Discussion Thread
I'd only realized the origin of the conversation after I posted my remarks based on what others were discussing. I ignore that account. If Locher can manage to get Tamara Tunie on, I think he could possibly get Scott as the two are good friends. Hillary Bailey Smith also.

Most people who post frequently on YouTube do have some monetary compensation in mind, especially when it requires some thought and ingenuity. He's not charging me, so I have absolutely no problems with him trying to generate some ad revenue sharing compensation from it. Why would anybody else? If you don't like it, don't tune in, it's that simple. If the numbers get high enough, you just know P&G (who abandoned these creative properties) will pay attention, right? Exactly. It might just be an incentive for him to keep doing it, bigger and better. I've got no time for 'purity ponies' who think that people shouldn't be compensative for their time and effort. Good point. Even if it should happen, down the line, who cares?

Wow @Veethanks for the 411 on that site. MSN often has articles from various news sites on their website but I never knew about this one!

So the "Open the Country" protesters, i.e. Jackasses are clashing with police and the "Blue Lives Matter" folks are awfully quiet. Some of us always knew that it was never truly about blue lives mattering.- The Politics Thread
Yeah, I've heard about Florida but with as much carelessness as the bureaucracy in many states have, I expect leaks to happen eventually. If a country that specializes in misinformation like China had to amend their numbers upwards, I think this is the fate of any government that attempts to keep the count artificially low. It may not happen right away, but it eventually happens.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
This is perfect! Isn't it sad that there is no soap press to speak of these days? I'm actually genuinely sorry for this because you have these podcasts out here connecting with some favorite actors and it's getting little notice. I frequently see people on social media claim that they had no idea these podcasts existed. As bad as these soap press were, I doubt this would've happened back in the day. On topic though, even though I didn't really read those magazines that often, sound like certain members of the soap media took themselves too seriously and got drunk on their own perceived power.- The Politics Thread
Who says they're not already? The numbers are likely much higher.- The Politics Thread
What's surely coming next is higher infection rates, like in Georgia and Texas and likely a second wave.- The Politics Thread

You know, I've spoken my piece on that years ago and I stand by it. The show was an absolute mess in its final decade but there was nothing special about Craig in that final decade, you could've slotted Block, Meek and Lindstrom in any number of other character roles and it would've made no difference. The characterizations and writing were so generic. I guess in isolation you could say "that one storyline that lasted all of two weeks was good" or that scene wasn't bad but the overall picture was that it wasn't that stirring. Maybe compared to the other schlock that was on the show it looked pretty good but what does that truly say? In the "Best Soap Scenes" thread on this board, does anybody know how many scenes were posted from ATWT's last decade? Because I don't remember any being posted. To me, that speaks volumes. OMG at the tongue lolling around in the mouth. Okay, well, that did stand out, I guess.- The Politics Thread
When I posted sarcastically about Tr*mp (sick of typing his wretched name) and his love of Kim Jong Un, little did I know that hours latter, the jerk would tweet about...Kim Jong Un. Damn, is the big dumb oaf reading this messageboard. In case he is, don't run for reelection but announce it in October.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
I agree with the aspect of it being about perspective. Perhaps Hubbard preferred Lucinda be a more marginal character, more part of the ensemble than standout and if so, I can respect that. When the character of Lucinda first appeared on the scene in 1984, they had her going after John Dixon, with Lucinda musing about what it would be like to be married to a prominent doctor (part of the reason for her "rivalry" with Karen) which seemed like something out of the 1950s even back then but perhaps that is what Liz would've preferred. I also wonder whether Hubbard disliked Lucinda being spurned by Craig. In 1985, it seemed as if Craig was a bit torn where Sierra and Lucinda were concerned after his one night stand with Lucinda. To me, it seemed obvious that it was guilt, not love that made him somewhat conflicted where his budding romance with Sierra was concerned but perhaps in Liz's mind, Craig was in love with Lucinda somehow? It became obvious under Marland's pen that Craig didn't want Lucinda-- I even recall a scene where Lucinda was groping all over Craig and he literally pushed her off him and said "Go take a cold shower" with a look of disgust. Even as a fictional character, I could see how that rejection could sting. Television is also not like a play. Whereas a play, an actor has time to investigate the world of the character, scene by scene and ask the playwright a lot of questions, soaps move so fast that there isn't much time to process any of the reasons why things happen, so it would be easy to see how differently a writer's perspective of a character might be different from an actor's. Honestly though, does anyone believe that Lucinda Walsh was a fully formed character when she arrived a year and a half before Marland arrived? Also, I love Liz, God knows I do (she has stories for days!) but why did no one correct her when she referred to Jesse Lee Soffer's character as the young homosexual man? Was she getting him mixed up with Van Hansis?- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
I thought he was awful too.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
I'm not saying that the writing didn't need punching up, I'm saying that it's bad form to do it on the fly without giving a heads up to the writers. If someone had done that to me repeatedly they'd be out, I don't care who they are. She was never known to do this with any of the playwrights she worked with and was especially supportive of Chayefsky, even though he wrote a flop for her to costar in.- Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread
The doctor says that he is not sure what it is that helped Suri survive, but shouldn't someone at least try to find out? That information could be useful to some other family.- The Politics Thread
Until a video is produced, rather than just photographs, this is unlikely to remove all speculation and rumors. Maybe someone can send Trump over there to check on the love of his life.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
Unless it was a show like Curb Your Enthusiasm where performers are encouraged to improve, I doubt that any writer would like this-- I certainly wouldn't. If there are suggestions on re-writing dialogue, you should take it up with the writer, otherwise, say the line as it's written. It's actually bad form to do otherwise and I love La Hubbard. By the way, I doubt Hubbard would've dared to do that in theater and certainly not with Paddy Chayefsky, who was known to be very strong-willed and domineering.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
I didn't figure Hubbard to be the type who would be at all self-conscious about how she appeared onscreen but it seems as if she may have been concerned about how Lucinda was seen by others. It would be interesting if she truly preferred the earlier iteration of Lucinda considering that the character had been on the canvas a full year before she became anything other than marginal. I guess Hubbard didn't like Lucy being an interloper in one of her daughter's relationship and an obstacle in the other daughter's relationship. Like you said, Lucinda was far more complex under Marland's pen than in the year and some change that she had been on the show previously. As much as people complain about Eileen Fulton's performances, from what I read about Lisa's "bad gal" days, she leaned into it, rather than shying away or complaining and got a pop in the jaw by an overzealous fan as a sign of just how much she embraced her characterization. I have to watch the whole livestream tomorrow. Did La Hubbard name-drop Paddy Chayefsky? Speaking of memoirs and tell alls, her relationship with him had quite a few paragraphs in his biography. It sounds like the ballet storyline was just a smokescreen to shake Greiner loose. It's a shame because I thought she actually had a resemblance to Kathleen Widdoes, so that Faith looked like she could really be Emma's flesh and blood.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
That story about switching out the thicker actress for the thinner one is vile. I always knew that weight was at the root of it, but hearing the specifics just reminds me of the myriad reasons why I hated the show's final decade.- The Tennis Thread

Interesting how, with the exception of Trump who can't resist camera time, these autocrats seem to be missing in action during this pandemic. Xi Jinping, Kim Jong Un and now Putin seem camera shy all of a sudden.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
