  1. HBS also confirmed something about that era that I'd long suspected-- storyline projections were pitched and written way in advance, rather than the make-it-up-as-you-go-along style of today. The difference in how the dramatic narrative plays out is really noticeable, particularly in the structure and the pacing.
  2. Saudi Arabia is trending right now.
  3. A sweet and entertaining interview. I just finished the segment where she talks about her time at ATWT. Sounds like she got along famously with the cast and her onscreen family. I'm still trying to process the fact that the show turned down a chance to cast Bryan Cranston but I guess like HBS said, things worked out quite fine for Cranston. Also, tittering about Ellen Parker (who replaced Ellen Dolan on GL) replacing HBS in The Heidi Chronicles. Around that same time, PBS aired another Wendy Wasserstein play Uncommon Women with Meryl Streep, Swoosie Kurtz, which Ellen Parker also co-starred in, and since the film onstage production was shot in the 70s, I guess Ellen Parker must've been a favorite of Wasserstein. Amazing. After listening to this podcast, now I really want to see a livestream reunion of Gregg Marx and HBS. Perhaps they could get Scott Bryce too.
  4. Someone should try to get Laurence Caso on a podcast or livestream interview. I'm curious as to what he'd say about his time producing the soap.
  5. That's a great lineup, the lustrous heads of hair on that group alone!🤣 Please, let there be no technical glitches.
  6. Slight typo, she meant black deaths due to the coronavirus but it is understood nonetheless.
  7. Just when you thought he couldn't get more ridiculous, Fanta Fascist's actions wreak of desperation anew.
  8. Mystery solved as to why Georgia's numbers didn't seem to budget after the governor had moved to "reopen" the state.
  9. Belgium, with a Flemish capital (financial) and Francophile capital (cultural) has been a mess politically for years. As I've said so many times, this pandemic has brought into sharp relief all the deficiencies, dysfunctions and structural weaknesses that have been hiding in plain sight in the governments of countries worldwide. Speaking of political messes and dysfunction, I disagree with the caption that somehow this is a "brutal" takedown. It is not. It is merely an honest assessment.
  10. Up above, in the previous post was Obama's speech for HBCUs graduates. Tonight's speech was for high school graduates. By the way, #ObamaGreat is currently trending.
  11. Those thoughts also crossed my mind, I'll admit. Don't get me wrong, I love that these reunions are taking place and am grateful to be able to watch and listen. Still, you do get the sense that these livestreams are being somewhat "managed". Since the early livestreams, it seems as if it's a bit less spontaneous. OTOH, I suspect that because the actors trust that there will be a certain standard, they are open to appearing in these livestreams, especially the actors who have never done these types of formats before. Maybe there are other podcasts that can invite soap stars to expound on the juicy stuff? By the way, there's a #GraduateTogether 2020 that has been on livestream and Julianne Moore made a cameo appearance congratulating the graduates.
  12. That may have been a factor but Jill has always had ambition. This was a woman who put her brother through medical school as well as helped her mother earn the family's daily bread. Having helped her brothers achieve their goals, it makes sense that she'd always wanted better for herself too.
  13. President Obama's speech.
  14. I really liked that aspect too. Also, mid to late 80s Jill seemed to be written as a kind of 'man's woman', a woman who generally got along and worked better with men. Jill was the creator and biggest advocate of bringing a Men's line to prominence at Jabot. Jill notably hired a "right-hand man" in David Kimble and was really the first person to recognize that Bradley Carlton had the potential to be far more than the Abbott's pool guy.
  15. I saw the speech live. It was really good.
  16. Meanwhile Orange Menace is on his way to backtracking, as he always does.
  17. Were people actually saying this though? I thought he actually kept the conversation at a nice flow. Alan thought that Eileen lives in South Carolina when Don corrected him and told him Eileen lives in North Carolina. I remember reading years ago that Eileen moved back to her home state after the cancellation of ATWT. I loved that Kathryn referred to the show as ATWT.
  18. I saw part of that and it was indeed lovely. I don't mind Scott taking over the show, lol. Alan does need someone to sort out these technical issues though.
  19. Someone has got to fix these tech issues on the livestream. The discussion is entertaining and lively but being marred by technical issues. I'll have to pick up the rest later.
  20. B&B alum Rome Flynn discusses the responsibility of being an actor of color. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/rome-flynn-discusses-responsibility-being-170934617.html
  21. No problem :) This has been our reality for months now and to stop and try to take in the measure and absorb everything can still be overwhelming.
