  1. When during the shows run would everyone agree that Ceuz/Eden dominated the show? Watching alot of the 1985 episodes...the show is working like a true ensemble with an equal focus on Lional/Augusta, Ted/Christy story, Mary/Mason, Amy/Brick, and Kelly/Nick/Dylan...and Sophia coming back from the dead...along with Santana/Gina....as well as Julia working as the crusading lawyer that tries to be Augusta's conscious.
  2. Like others mentioned...pam long and Marland would have worked well as co head writers. He was organized, and disciplined with plot points and character....and she knew how to make each character have their own voice and was good at the emotional writing. She did well with the Reardons and expanded on the Lewis family on GL (Marland's creations)...so I think she could have written the Snyder's as well...and even maybe the Hughes family too.
  3. Big mistake killing off Hayley...she was sweet..yet had a backbone. She also provided Gina with family and showing her soft side. Gina never quite got to show the soft side off like during the Hayley era..even when Lily came back in 1991.
  4. The 1036 clip shows how sheltered and entitled Eden was. I liked that the show didn't portray Eden as all good...that some characters called her out on her entitlement. Which Capwells daughter would you all say was most entitled...Kelly or Eden?
  5. No wonder his shows were very talky talky and more like gossip then actual conversations people would have in real life. (Regarding fine tuning each script). I know at GL...that the dobsons had a few writers write each script based on outlines provided by the Dobsons..it was more of a team effort...while Marland came in and seemed like a micromanage. His plots and pacing were good..but the day to day scripts were weak sometimes.
  6. Marland did seem to water down his creations. I almost felt maybe he should habe left after 2 or 3 years. Keg and iba are prime examples of his creations that started out with spirit/personality but got bogged down over time. I could understand Iva changing since her rapist married into the family and never truly got punished. It's realistic and happens in more families then one would think. At least she kind of got a happy ending.
  7. Of the two offers, I think Loving would have been a better fit. And I know she would habe done well with the college town with scandalous secrets well.
  8. Bridget/julie/kat. Good years with those three. I would like to also say (changing subject) that Guiding light had a great unlucky in love character back in the 70s that the dobsons created yet didn't make pathetic..Katie. that is until Marland took over and made her pathetic..only somewhat reversed by Pam Long.
  9. Samantha #1 had a good exit..and it was a shame she was let go. She found out Kirk was conning her and she conned him...stating 'never con a con' before she left. Samantha #2 wasn't accepted...and if I recall..she and Wiggins were the 90s versions of colleen ask and Mark pinter.
  10. Samantha #2...i agree. I liked him with Samantha #1
  11. I've liked a lot of the Pollack's stuff...but I do agree it isn't as character driven as it was under lakin/Edelstein. I will say that the Pollack' s could write a climax like no one else...and I think perhaps if lakin/Pollack's worked together...it would have been dynamite. Who knew Gil Gerald was hot back then I'm most intrigued with how his wife will fit in. She doesn't seem keen on Hope Memorial.
  12. I actually thought seyfried got better once the show moved her character out of the JR/Jamie orbit..and interacted her with other people. Her character had a promising romeo/Juliet type of story with Reggie before both were written out.
  13. I think the iva factor was due to the actress being popular as Nola. My mom had a soft spot for Iva..the unlucky in love heroine. I liked Craig with Emily (Melanie Smith's version)..even with Samantha (the first one).
  14. Lecy's Becky was kind of a brat...so Darlene bursting her bubble was always entertaining season 1 through 3 before Darlene went gothic. With Sarah's Becky...yoi felt kind of sorry for her because she seemed cheerful and Darlene looked bitter and mean spirited bursting her bubble.
  15. I actually think the show could have made it if it was less preachy and told a good story. It certainly seems like an intriguing concept.
  16. To be honest, while I loved the shpw...i don't see the point of it coming back.
  17. And all the barbara/Hal marriage angst and break up would have still worked...with Kim being involved since it was her nephew...causing angst for bob/kim as well...since bob and Rick didn't get along.
  18. I know the Iris/Donna angle shifted once Anna s came back.
  19. I recall 1st watching when philece was playing Donna...and she played Donna as a dingbat. I was thrown when Anna Stuart came back...and the character became less dingy and more snarky.
  20. What does everyone think is the reason Erica endured as such an iconic character over other characters? When watching the early 1970 episodes, no one probably would have figured she would have lasted over 41 years. I do think had she been part of the online show...it wouldn't have folded so quickly..imho
  21. Researched a series of clips highlighting the Eden rape and aftermath...and I can see how the reveal of her OB as rapist would unsettle the viewers..especially when he was one of the people examining her post rape. It was like he violated her all over again. Marcy Walker was truly the stand out...and she had a lot of great support. I also liked her therapist Heather...michael's sister. It's a shame she didn't last too long cause she could have been used well in 1990/1991.
  22. I do agree with Jeana....meghan on season 11 was grounded...pregnancy made her logical and calm...who knew lol Rhobh...adrienne in s1 and 2. Rhonj.....delores came closest since Caroline. On Ny...sober Dorinda...yes. I think Vicki on OC should have been fired...she crossed the line in season 10..and again in season 11. Rinna...thats a tough one. None of the women would want to film with her to make her get fired.
  23. Cynthia has stayed grounded...considering the years she's been on the show. Who r the grounded housewives on the following shows.... Rhoc rhony Rhobh rhonj
  24. Oddly...I thought Dixie during the brief online run was written as a 3D character... the first time in several years. She showcased her compassionate side, her sarcastic side, her ability to forgive and her judgmental side. It was the best shed been written since the 90s..imho.
  25. It does seem like after the first two years...the show just focused on a small number if characters...with other characters only lasting 1 to 2 years. In some cases, like with the character of Amy...the actress chose to leave and the show wisely didn't recast...but I didn't get why the show spent a good year building up a new family for Lional (wife and two step daughters) only to write them all off after a year or so. The show banked too much on the Capwells...but once they were recast or left...the family was basically non existent by 1992...so I don't blame Pam Long for what she did..cause the structure was gone...and I did think the Walker family was a good idea. With that said, you had the perfect Santana in Ava...yet she only lasts a few months. Color me confused..because she had chemistry with Cruz..and good antagonistic vibes with Eden...so the whole cruz/Santana marriage to regain Brandon..would have been even better with Ava in the role. Plus her opposite robin mattson...would have been awesome. Oh well
