B&B: Surprise Return!?
Deacon was my first thought too. How did he last leave? I know Quinn pushed him off a cliff at one point. Back for revenge? Does he have a connection to Sheila?

B&B October 2021 Discussion Thread
I found Ridge the other day to be written so overbearing and obnoxious trying to dictate to his father what Eric does or doesn't do within his own home. What right does he have? I've never liked TK as Ridge and this kind of writing does him no favors. Quinn has done horrible things, for sure. Ridge has every reason to not like her, but when Eric is opening up to him about something so personal Ridge just kept shouting right over him. I didn't mind today's episode. It actually had people working...in the office...and interacting. LOL. It did seem like they were testing Paris and Thomas. Weren't they just testing Paris and Finn? Why can't Zende and Paris just be a couple? I'd rather Thomas have someone new come into the picture and stir things up. Let Zende and Paris have some happiness. Hell, let any couple on this show have some happiness. I'm surprised they haven't had Brooke in the middle of Sheila's story. It would make perfect sense to have Brooke be nosing into what Sheila is doing and where she is. After everything Sheila has done in the past, would they really just let her roam around LA without keeping tabs on her? Brooke should secretly hire some young, good-looking private investigator to go get close to Sheila and report back. Ridge could suspect an affair because Brooke is being secretive and running off to meet this guy. Sheila could eventually catch on to the guy and turn the tables on Brooke.

I also thought that Stark had something to do with Frankie/Anne and then was dropped. That story was all over the place. At that point, AW didn't have much to lose. I would have gone all out and had Stark turn random people into characters that had been killed off. Bring back Frankie, Ryan, Michael, hell even Steve if George Reinhold was interested. If Days could do their serial killer story with Marlena and then haha...just kidding, AW should have gone crazy!! I suppose NBC would have had to care and be invested in saving the show to add cast money.

Our kind of people
I struggled through watching this. Maybe I just had high hopes. As others have said, the writing was all over the place!! Too many characters. I had trouble keeping track of who/how each were supposed to tie in. The episode definitely should have featured Angela arriving and filling in her history with flashbacks. The 2nd ep could have introduced the family she's trying to infiltrate and feature them. Ep 3 should have been the nominating party tying them together. Just my thoughts...shows aren't given the time to develop anymore. Everything tries too hard to be guns blazing from jump.

Days of Our Lives: September 2021 Discussion Thread
I wish Doug would have been possessed for a bit longer than he was. It's been fun. The audience could have wondered about his Alzheimer's as he talks inappropriately to Kate in front of Roman, say something about Eli being Julie's grandson, etc.. I did think for a second that maybe the Devil transferred from Doug to Tripp. This could have worked too if it tied in Chanel, Ali, and Johnny. The Devil could have stirred up a few things among them and let them experience the situation first hand at the same time.

I loved NF's run in '86 when Cecile was Queen and kidnapped Cass. Her runs after that continually went down in quality. I'm not sure all the writing changes helped or if they really knew Cecile. She was never really moved out of Cass's orbit and that's a shame. What about Senator Grant? Or bringing Peter Love back? She could have been woven into so many stories in a fun, manipulative way that social-climber Cecile was known as.

This has been said before but I'd love a conversation with Julie Osborn, Stephen Schnetzer, and Nancy Frangione. Maybe even throw in Linda Dano to all talk about their times together. Talk about Crystal Lake and Wallingford. Having the Cory kids would be great. Matt Crane, Sandi Ferguson, Judi Evans, Russell Todd. I'd be just as happy if Larry Lau and/or Cali Timmins came on. Where's Tom Eplin? Jake and any of his women. Any of the Marleys, Vickys, Paulinas, and Anna Stuart's Donna. He always seemed to have chemistry with any of the actresses. I'd love to hear what they thought of working with him.

Y&R August 2021 Discussion Thread
The way this Mariah story ended made the whole thing even worse. I was hoping all along that there was a red herring and the culprit would be revealed in the last seconds of the show (Friday cliffhanger). Too much to hope for evidently. This story may have seemed fine initially on paper, tying in all of these characters across the canvas, but the execution sucked bad.

Bold and Beautiful August 2021 Discussion
I hope they don't go the Finn/Paris route. Finn just got married and has been written as all in with Steffy. It would make no sense he'd wander that quickly/easily. Can't this show do anything besides triangles/affairs?? Speaking of making no sense, Eric doing a 180 with Quinn and not wanting to divorce her all of a sudden. WTH??? One would think with Sheila back, Eric would be even more insistent on less drama/chaos in his life and want away from these women. I know this is just a plot point to mess with Quinn/Carter, but still. They can't come up with some other kind of conflict to slow down Quinn/Carter?

Bold and Beautiful August 2021 Discussion
I've thought the last few episodes have been pretty decent. Although the constant talk about no drama and settling down, etc, was a bit overdone. Of course, that's never going to happen. I've found myself enjoying most of the scenes though without wanting to fastforward. For a show set around the fashion industry, it amazes me how poorly Ridge and Thomas are styled. Nothing about them looks "trendy". They look like they could have come from the 60's. Just putting them in a suit does not clean them up. Those in the fashion industry would realize that!

AW: It's being reported Philece Sampler died 🙏
I'm pretty sure it was not Philece's choice to leave. I still remember (when I was 10) how furious I was that Renee was found upstairs with a literal knife in her back!!! It made me hate DAYS for years and i refused to watch. Since AW was my daytime show, I was thrilled when she joined. She may not have been a great fit (especially with stupid writing that involved Donna and John, a very weak Donna) but I was so happy she was there, Always wanted her to join another show, but it never happened.

Those lists are always subjective and the fact that Rachel is in the top two couples, as well as Jake in 3 and 4, make no sense. Either Mac and Rachel were the best Rachel pairing or Carl and Rachel. Personally, I can't accept both being a best couple. Same for Jake. I will never get behind Carl and Rachel. He terrorized and tried to kill Rachel and Mac several times. How can Rachel ever (suddenly) forgive him? I don't buy it. Jake and Marley were amazing in the beginning until they married and TE and EW left together as a couple. They were ruined after that. Once Marley was raped just to have EW later return with mental instability because of it, in my opinion, can never make Jake and Marley a "best couple". Jake and Vicky were a fave of mine. I do find it tough to believe she'd forgive him totally for Marley's rape but they were best friends as kids and knew each other for years. It would make sense that they had a sense of trust in each other. Vicky's best pairing though? No. That was Ryan and Vicky, imo. I'd put them above Jake and Vicky. But like others said: No Steve and Alice? Sally and Catlin? Sandy and Blaine? Gary and Josie?

It's too bad she won't have a scene with Grant Show. I find it funny that I haven't seen anywhere a mention of the fact her and Grant dated once (before her marriage to Doug Savant). Always says former co-stars.

Dynasty: Discussion Thread
Others might recognize Laura more recently for Pretty Little Liars. I wish more Melrosers would pop up as guest stints. Josie Bissett could be fun. I do agree with others that something needs to be done with Steven. He should be an integral part of the show. Fallon and Steven were always so close in the original and made a great sounding board for each other. It's missing.

Dynasty: Discussion Thread
As Laura Leighton is my fave Melroser, I can't wait to check out how she's brought into this show. I'm secretly hoping that the ratings hit a high point and she becomes at least a semi-regular "guest star" ala Heather Locklear did for Melrose. I know. I'm dreaming.... I do find that the show overall has been much better. I'm definitely watching more.

2021 Daytime Emmys
Although I don't put any stock in the Emmys like I used to, I have to say the show was decent. It was nice to watch an awards show that wasn't full of politics and grandstanding. Showing as many clips as they did was nice. I do wish some of the "milestones" had been memorable moments of storylines instead...but that's a personal opinion. I was even able to tolerate Sheryl and I can't stand her or anyone from The Talk.

Jill Farren Phelps Interview
Since AW was/is my show, I watched this interview with skepticism. She likes to quickly say that she had nothing to do with Frankie Frame's death on the show, but if you are the EP you could step into story. Frankie may still have been attacked because story was plotted out in advance, but it could have been altered. Frankie could have not been so brutally attacked and then possibly "hid" out after the incident because she was afraid the killer would come back for her since she saw his face. Frankie could have lived. But there's no excuse for killing Ryan and Bridget. I know Michael Paul Valley left of his own accord, (wasn't there a tiff with the show in regards to his then girlfriend, Christine Tucci being let go?) but he didn't have to be killed. He could possibly have been persuaded back. Killing him ruined arguably one of the most popular couples on the show, Ryan and Vicky--after you just ruined Cass and Frankie. There's "mixing things up" and there's causing a train wreck. I'm not sure she knows the difference. I hated the pairing of John/Felicia on AW too. Maybe others liked it. I just didn't think it was written well! Felicia was made into a vial "other woman" instead of someone that organically got closer to a long-time friend while his wife was away. Yes, it gave Anna Holbrook and Linda Dano great scenes together but I found them hard to watch. I never agreed that Felicia would have ever done anything like that to Charlene after all Felicia had watched her go through with Sharly. Plus, it ruined John and Sharlene, another of the show's long-time couples, that seemed popular with most viewers. She's a big fan of Steven Bochco? It shows! She produces her shows like they're one hour shock episodes for ratings instead of a long-term, family stories. Just IMO.

Anybody Ever Write their own Soap?
Okay...i'm going to be shameless and plug my novel... Chick Lit Cafe says, "Pressing Matters, by Bruce A. Fleming, is an exciting whodunit that will keep you guessing to the last pages." Pressing Matters is the first in my series set in the fictional Milliken Mills, Maine. It follows the powerful Nolan family and their newspaper publishing empire. They battle the changing times and each other. I started writing this around 2001 because I missed Melrose Place. I created it with MP and Dallas in mind. I often refer to the series as "my Dallas in a book." I initially self-published four volumes through Amazon's Createspace but then wasn't happy with the way things were going so I regrouped. I'm now relaunching through a different publishing venue in Maine. Pressing Matters is the first book. The second is slated for January. I have two others fully written, a fifth book half-done with an ending in mind, and a sixth book I have in my head as a "spinoff" to a different town for three of the characters. It's extremely soapy. I can't help it. I've grown up watching soaps and just love the genre. I hope maybe some of you will give it a try. https://maineauthorspublishing.com/pressing-matters/

I enjoyed that reunion. Have always liked Anna, Alicia, and Alice. Was surprised to see Christine there because I don't remember her being on for very long. Alicia reciting Charles Keating's advice to her about acting was hilarious! Made even better by the fact that she basically owned it. Haha. She was fire on AW and greatly missed after she left. It was interesting to hear her say that she recites the names of her AW co-workers sometimes at night when trying to relax. Sad and comforting at the same time. I'm curious too what would have happened story wise if Doug Watson hadn't passed when he did. It seems Francesca/Frankie may have been a whole different type of character. I enjoyed Donna and Michael together but I could leave Michael anytime that he was on his own or in that story with Stacey. Always found Michael to be a bit obnoxious.
