Texas! Discussion Thread
It's sad that "journalists" who looked down on the genre of daytime are able to put in print such cynicism and biased reporting. He or she clearly didn't understand the genre. Now, I'm not saying Texas didn't have its problems. Especially in the beginning. I just hate it when daytime doesn't get the respect it deserves.

ALL: "Soapy" Podcast hosted by Rebecca Budig & Greg Rikaart
I have to say that this one with ED is the first one I've watched where I've been very disappointed. (Morgan Fairchild not talking about Dallas, Falcon Crest is second,) I really wanted more behind the scenes stories of playing Ashley and Kristen. Two iconic characters in daytime history and both were barely touched upon. I would have liked to hear more about Ashley's abortion storyline and how it was received at the time. More about the Ashley/Victor/Nikki triangle. The stealing of Victor's sperm. Kristen coming between John and Marlena. It's also too bad that they blanked out on Roscoe Born. I know the man had his issues, but he also had a huge impact on daytime.

RIP Patrick Muldoon
He'll always be Richard Hart to me. He played that part so (sleazily) well. As someone who is 53 and had my own heart failure scare a few years ago (needing a 12 hr surgery), this hits home. One never knows. Mine was a congenital condition, but you never know when your time is up. Always make your day the best that you can.

LATEST DEMO RATINGS: March 30 - April 3, 2026
BTG being 0.2 behind Y&R in the 18-49 demo for Weds/Thurs and then only 0.1 behind them on Friday makes me extremely happy!! I wonder if this had any impact on the renewal. I can't wait to see them pass Y&R. I think it's only a matter of time.

BTG: April 2026 Discussion Thread
I was thinking the same thing and then when they decided to shift Hayley's story to the "Kill "Bill" story it changed. Now I think Hayley was supposed to have met Naomi and Ashley a few years ago to ingratiate herself into Bill's orbit. I'm glad Hayley's story changed to make her a con artist because she has become far more interesting. She was grating on my nerves until that twist.

BTG: April 2026 Discussion Thread
I've always wondered how long Clifton Davis agreed to do the show. (Also, the other big three.) Is he really looking to make daytime a thing, or did he agree to initially come on because of the historical aspect of it? Daytime is a grind and it isn't like he needs the work. Could a health crisis for him be a way to exit if the show had been picked up for yet another year (turns out two!)? Who knows? Otherwise I agree it's too soon. I also agree today was a bit meh after the rest of the week, but the previews look decent for next week.

Disappointed Lynette is out of the picture...for now. Maybe she and Doug are being held in the same place, fall in love, and come back engaged. ha. Vanessa would go wild after Lynette left her in the lurch with the condo. I think I've said before that Jacob has become my least favorite character since this undercover stuff. The playing up of trying to be hood just makes me eye roll. I'd rather watch Tomas and Derek now...and that's saying something! I do hope Hayley gets busted soon, but I also want her to stick around. She should set up Carlton as her next mark. He seems gullible enough. I'm so glad the pace has picked up more the past week or two. They need to keep it going!

ARTICLE: ‘Beyond The Gates’ Renewed For Two Additional Seasons At CBS
This makes me very happy. I'm loving the show. Could it improve? Of course! All the shows could, but I'll take it. It quickly became my fave. I hope this, as well as higher ratings across the board this season, are good signs for the genre in general. Let's have a resurgence for soaps!

Y&R: April 2026 Discussion Thread
My first thought was regarding Lily even being able to be a donor after her cancer and own health problems. Would that even be an issue? But yes, I'm sure it will be Holden so he can be put in a better light with everyone for coming through. Today was a much better episode with less corporate/AI talk and more talk about family and relationships. Stephanie and Audra were great. I loved Audra being put in her place (and I like Audra). No Victor. No Matt nonsense. Refreshing.

BTG: April 2026 Discussion Thread
If Ted is considered the least toxic, you know there are problems. lol I am liking that there is more going on than being uber focused on the Duprees. As others, I find them a bit much at times. Darlene not being a fan of the Duprees or wannabe Duprees (Leslie, Eva) is life. I hope the character keeps it real without being too cartoonish like Leslie is written most of the time. There's been a lot of speculation about something happening to Jacob, but today made me nervous for Smitty. His character would be more dispensable within the show. I just hope they don't go down that route either. Martin and Smitty need to be part of the diversity that sets this show apart. I can't say I have any faith in the writers yet to not go there with Jacob or Smitty. In a way the unpredictability with this show is nice, but... It had to have been on purpose that June was in the background of Donnell's selfie with Samantha. What's going to happen when it's posted online? Is her mean ex, who was referenced, going to see it? The kids real father? Will he show up at the Cotillion?

BTG: April 2026 Discussion Thread
I enjoyed today's episode and would take this over Joey/Vanessa, Samantha/Tyrell, Nicole/Carlton any day. People have been saying this show has been all talk and not showing anything. Today they showed some of how Naomi and Jacob met. I thought it was well done. Just because you may not enjoy the characters in the episode, doesn't mean it's a bad episode. It's just not your thing, and that is fine. I think I've said before I feel killing off Jacob would be a big mistake. The Hawthornes should be a prominent family on the show and why would it make sense to kill off Jacob? To what? Bring in Luke to take his place? Personally, I wouldn't see the point. Now, Jacob being severely injured while undercover would be good story. Maybe make him question still being a cop. Naomi pushing him to stop. His father (and family) pushing him to stay in. Jacob soul-searching to decide what to do. I did expect the Elon and Izaiah dust up at the wedding to be a bit more after the way it has been talked about.

Y&R: April 2026 Discussion Thread
I feel bad for the Genoa City citizens that are employed at any of the companies in town, Newman, Chancellor, Jabot. They must get daily emails to announce who the CEO is for the day, what direction the company is going in now, etc.. Or do they just sit around drinking company coffee all day laughing at their incompetent bosses who can't even keep ownership of their companies? It's amazing any employees would be left. I would have been on Linkedin ages ago!

BTG: April 2026 Discussion Thread
I think all this talk about the sets would be lessened if the writing was better. People would be more focused on the action/dialogue than drifting off wondering "why doesn't Naomi have an office?". I agree, I'd watch a show that had one set if the writing kept me engaged between the characters. Filming outside...would that work when they film four or five months in advance with a setting of the DMV? Would it make sense for Smitty and the kids to be outside looking like summer when it airs in December? I'd love more "location" shoots too, but they'd have to be careful about it or people will complain about that too. One thing I'll give B&B right now is that they do well at building up Friday endings. BTG needs to do better in general at the end of eps. Many times I'm watching and the show just...ends...then it's like "oh, it's over". It needs to feel like an ending with even the slightest bit of a hook.

Jacob has now become the most annoying character to me. I know it's the writing, but he's just not an intelligent police officer. I don't buy his tough guy act like he's from the streets. It often makes me laugh. I'm so glad that Hayley's con is starting to heat up again. I want her busted, but I also want her to stick around Fairmont Crest. I want Nicole to make a decision already. Her playing both Kial and Carlton has been going on for too long. Of course, I think she should pick Kial.

ALL: Soap stars who reportedly didnt get along on set which soap actor feuds were real and which were just fan rumors
I'm curious about AW. I have always wondered how Vicky Wyndham was to work with. I know on Linda Dano's (too brief) podcast, she carefully talked around VW. Sandi Ferguson (Amanda) and Robert Kelker Kelly (Sam) had issues. Anne Heche (Vicky/Marley) didn't like Philece Sampler (Donna), but then loved Anna Stuart when she returned in the role. Beverlee Mckinsey (Iris) did not like Nicolas Coster (Robert) because he didn't know lines/talked off script. Jackee recently said in her Soapy interview that she clearly didn't like Constance Ford. lol.

The addiction story for Nick isn't doing it for me either, though I would take the casino set here on Y&R over the one on BTG. Why do I feel like Chelsea and Sharon are going to run to Vegas now? Will Sharon be kidnapped for the 100th time? Did Phyllis really come at Lily for Lily pretending to be kidnapped? Says the person who pretended to be dead. I do hope Daniel and Tessa record an album together and then go on tour...far, far away from GC. I like Daniel, but he's not been well written for in a long time.

Hoping for more Taylor/Deacon/Sheila and Brooke vs Katie. Less Dylan/Will/Electra/RJ.

I do wish Tomas was portrayed by a stronger actor, but I'm here for Hayley vs Tomas, also Lynette vs Kat. Please give more Vernon vs Leslie and Bill vs Andre! I'm curious how the plasma ring moves forward. I hope it is moved along quicker, but I do not want anything to happen to Jacob (maybe other than an injury). I think it would be a mistake to let go a Hawthorne brother. There could be so many ramifications for those on the canvas. Don't mess it up! Keep it messy. Fingers crossed the ratings keep up and continue grow!

ARTICLE: ‘The Young And The Restless’ Up In Viewers & Key Demos, ‘The Price Is Right’ Continues To Impress – RATINGS
It might be odd, but I'm not complaining. It's great to see shows having an increase in viewership over the year before instead of the constant downward trend. I hope it lasts.

That was my thought! Then I thought he might be too old. He's 9 years older. Seemed a bit old for Kat, but who knows? Soaps play with ages all the time. Vanessa/Joey????

If BTG ever wants to expand Tomas's family...and older brother? Cousin? No, I don't want the current Tomas sticking around, but I think his family could be a nice exploration.

BTG: March 2026 Discussion Thread
Deanna's arrival was terrific and she seems to be cast well. I agree that it was like a slap in the face and then poof she's gone. The show tends to do that though. Hype a character, bam(!), then off he/she goes. Kial, for another example. Bill's scenes with Anita and Kat were making me like him again and I usually don't. Well done. I'm already over the Kial/Nicole/Carlton thing. Nicole talks about the men being juvenile, but I find it juvenile to be playing to men against each other like she is. Nicole isn't any better. Yes, Nicole has every right to date two men at the same time, but she's written like she enjoys them battling over her. So don't then call them out for being juvenile. I agree that the Bill/Hayley story should have come to a climax in St. Bart's ala Janice poising Mac on Another World and her battle with Rachel. Bill and Hayley could have escaped for a week of fun. After they leave, more detailed results come in on Bill's blood work that shows a trace of poisoning (though Randy insists there wouldn't be. He isn't necessarily the sharpest though.). Madison discovers it and leaves the chart out in front of Dani somehow which, of course, leads to Dani being nosy and reading the results. She starts putting two-and-two together, Bill's shakes, the stroke, the "sudden recovery" and realizes it's Hayley's doing. She rushes out to go warn Bill and is overheard by Randy, who then drags Lynette with him, as they all rush to St. Bart's to warn Bill and Hayley the jig is up. There are confrontations. Someone dies. Bill returns behind the gates grateful to Dani causing more problems for Andre. I've been a fan of Leslie from the first week when she was revealed as the "evil" Sheila character arc, but even I agree the past couple weeks have been obnoxious. I no longer find her funny at times. I just find her annoying and not wanting to listen to her anymore. I hope they tone it down soon!
