The soap opera writers' discussion
I've always been curious about Douglas Anderson's tenure at Guiding Light. I wonder if he would have succeeded on a different show at the time, that wasn't ahem, dying a slow and painful death, with a better EP at the helm. I remember stumbling across a article about him via Google about him taking over GL and they made it sound the start of a new golden era almost.

Does anyone remember the confrontation between Nadine and Vanessa after the truth came out about Nadine taking Bridget's baby? It was one of my earliest memories of GL, and I wish I could find it online. Such gripping scenes between MK and JC. Seeing how Nadine and Vanessa butted heads, I can't help but to think that Nadine was a substitute for Nola. I can't, however, say that I'm that mad about it, Jean Carol was phenomenal as was Nadine.

The show is a mess.- The soap opera writers' discussion
Thanks to everyone for the input about Shaw. I guess it now makes sense as to why people rarely mention him lol- The soap opera writers' discussion
People often credit Pat Faulken Smith, Margaret DePriest, Marland, and etc for GH's renaissance during the late 70s and early 80s, but what about Robert J. Shaw? On another post I saw that he may have written for Bright Promise during one of their more stronger periods, and his name is rarely mentioned after having written for shows such as Dallas, Peyton Place, and Our Private World.- Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
I watched the episode of the aftermath of Aiden's suicide and it was quite moving. One of the best episodes I've watched of CS in a long time.- Another World Discussion Thread

1.) Rita Lakin - Her Doctors stint was the last time the show was consistently enjoyable IMO. 2.) Lorraine Broderick - I can honestly say there's not a stint of hers on a soap that I didn't like, I even liked her writing on ATWT. 3.) Wisner Washam - His early AMC was pretty good. 4.) Nancy Curlee - Her tenure on GL was the show's last golden era. 5.) Peggy O'Shea - Was pretty good no matter where she ended up at IMO. 6.) Henry Sleasar - Has he ever been the head scribe of a soap and it not be great? 7.) Douglas Marland - I liked his GL more than his ATWT, but both shows were well written under him. 8.) Richard and Carolyn Culliton - I think these two are underrated. Richard's presence on GL in the early 80s, and even his early 80s AW helped rejuvenate these shows.- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread

Thank god. MacLeod started off strong, but as time progressed his tenure became a chore to deal with. Perhaps he'll have better luck at Coronation Street.- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
So as someone who is still a fairly new viewer, does Brenda have a history of being a kleptomaniac?- The Doctors Discussion Thread
I think we can all agree there's been a ton of missed opportunities with the transition between the Pollocks and Cenedella. I'm %99.99 sure they had more planned for Stacey/Andy/Penny/Rico, but minus Penny, I could've done without the rest.- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
Looks like Emmerdale will be revisiting this storyline of DI Bails and Charity. I'm cautiously intrigued.- The Doctors Discussion Thread
