  1. I would agree with you on that front. What I'm saying is I think that aspect of the relationship had already been phased out by Marland even with HBS and Marx in the parts and would have just continued more down that path with the future stories he had planned for the couple. I don't believe he had much interest in a sexy or flirty Tom and Margo, and if he did, he lost that element of his writing more with each passing year.
  2. I do very much prefer Gregg Marx as Tom, but I tend to put more blame on Marland than on Scott Holmes or Ellen Dolan for taking the spark out of Tom and Margo. I'd actually say it's the incredibly heavy material in 1986 that does this even while HBS and Marx are still in the role - it's a world away from how feisty and fun the couple were able to be under the previous regimes, even in stories like Margo losing her hearing. Once you go through a late-term miscarriage, it's difficult to return to being the bantering couple. The stories Marland had lined up regardless of whoever played Tom (Margo running off because she was carrying Hal's child, Tom learning that he was a father of a teenage daughter from his stint in Vietnam) only furthered the divide. I think Holmes and Dolan managed to make Tom and Margo seem relateable and mostly good-natured, believable in banter and married-with-kids-and-jobs life, until the backbreakingly heavy material returned again with Margo's rape and HIV. Then Dolan left and nothing ever really recovered.
  3. Was it Lucy Johnson who supposedly didn't think Scott Defrietas was "hot" enough? Bleh. I loved Sale of the Century. I'm sorry it replaced The Doctors though.
  4. It's hard watching Brenda knowing what is about to happen.
  5. I wonder if the massive ratings losses for Ellen after all the reports of her toxicity was on their mind.
  6. WIll Saletan still seems perturbed that some people were lighting up the press corps for their stupid questions and then ratioed him when he defended said questions. The problem with comparing tweets to Greitens is that the voters who will be supporting him don't give a damn about tweets. Missouri has become a hate state. Greitens is a creature of hate. This is the end result.
  7. That's the main reason I remember her, probably. I wish the full Alma Rudder story would appear.
  8. I don't really have any sympathy for her, as she's savvy enough to know what they were setting up, but they set all this in motion and now they get to unload her and save some cash, along with getting headlines. I wish the whole show would just disappear. Bring on the inevitable game show revival 2 people will watch.
  9. Eesh. I remember somebody put up the clips of Rachel in that sculptor story. The only part I remember is his wife.
  10. On paper, I think Tess made sense heading to NYC, as she was a big fish in a small pond in Corinth. They really made her so unpleasant though - some of the soap magazines at the time panned the show for having her blackmail Ally with Steffi's role in Gwyn's death. B&E were never very warm writers - their tenure on Loving is cold and their new characters introduced on Loving were all aggressive and hard. Loving had had dark periods before, but this was balanced out by a longtime cast viewers knew and cared about. It's logical, I guess, to have a show based in NYC that isn't kisses and cuddles, but onscreen, it was not likely to bring new viewers or keep the Loving viewers. They did try later on to have a somewhat warmer atmosphere, but by then it was too late.
  11. Thanks for keeping track.
  12. I wonder if those are new or not.
  13. Yes. There's also a funny blooper in there somewhere, I believe. My favorite part of that story is Eve. Marie Wallace was a real gem.
  14. At around 27 minutes there's an Avon ad with Christine Jones, probably not long before L&F. WBBM Channel 2 - The Mary Tyler Moore Show - "The Last Show" (Complete Broadcast, 3/19/1977) 📺 - YouTube
  15. The Adam material was one of my least favorite elements of Dark Shadows (and I still hate that the ending Carolyn got in the tie-up TV Guide article was reuniting with Adam - I won't even go into my feelings on THAT relationship), so I can't agree with the article, but Rodan was a strong presence and I'm sorry to hear he has passed away. Lots of DS actors passing this year.
  16. The most dangerous part of the legislation is the legislature can now overturn results in various areas, overruling local officials.
  17. Thanks for finding those, @watson71 . Seeing all the shots of the Shea family reminds me of why so many viewers may have left the show in these years. What was the point of watching when so many characters who were introduced would just end up being killed off? Harry Shea's wife was killed, then some months later he was killed. Similar to Jerry Grove's mother, to Russ' wife Tracy, her manager, Bob Morgan, on and on. It adds such a gloomy vibe to this period.
  18. The Beltway laps this [!@#$%^&*] up every time.
  19. That Ashley Parker piece is beyond sad. This is such a hivemind, determined to foist their view onto the public no matter what. Speaking of agendas, I saw someone, maybe "Hotline Josh," claiming that Democrats should be happy about the voter suppression bills because they will spike turnout. I hate this type of "clever" Beltway thinking. So manipulative.
  20. Another The Evil Touch episode starring Julie Harris. THE EVIL TOUCH - "Happy New Year, Aunt Carrie" - upgraded print - YouTube
  21. I agree with you 100%. Hell, Tony Geary probably does too.
  22. Fascinating update. I hope that show has less awful judges than the American versions. I wonder if he will pop up on the VL revival.
  23. Pathetic.
