  1. The treatment of Martha (going all the way up to her ending with Mickey, and that scene in season 4 where the Doctor berated her for working with UNIT) is one of many reasons I can't go back and watch RTD's run and haven't been able to stomach his work since. Anyway, did any of you see the new Ghostbusters teaser clip? I could swear they just decided to make their own version of the Adipose.
  2. Thanks for sharing. This is likely one of the reasons GL was nearly canceled around this point. The numbers were awful.
  3. More showboating from this jackass even as chances of progress are further away each day.
  4. The thing for me about the Iris outburst is it just feels so plot-driven and false. I can believe that Mac would have had a special bond with Amanda because she was his biological child, but - without having seen or heard the scenes - (if they are around I either haven't heard them or forgot I did) it is just so difficult to believe, so I can write that off. I think Mac was a very flawed man, and written as such. If it was accepted, it's probably down to society's misogyny, but also Rachel refusing to be put into a victim mode as well as Douglass Watson's great charisma and rugged good looks.
  5. In early 1983, Mac moves Rachel back onto the Cory estate after she's left blind. Was she still living in the apartment at that point?
  6. After that Gaetz article came out, he was hurriedly added to a "Saving America" griftathon by the Trump people. In sad news:
  7. After a great deal of pushback, Nate Cohn decided to respond with, basically, "What's the point of talking about these bills meaning that states can just decide elections however they want - HR1 doesn't address this anyway." He and the Republican-loving paper he works for are just desperate to find any angle to praise voter suppression and help the GOP. More talking points from the Sunday shows, and another reminder of just how many repulsive little worms squirmed out of Clinton's White House.
  8. Terrifying to know how many conspiracy people are in such positions.
  9. I was glad to see some high-profile Twitter pundits asking the press to actually push McConnell on what they are planning to do. Sadly, they know they can just keep using buzzwords, or posing with Pepsi cans, and the media, along with sympathetic voices like Matt Stoller, will carry the narrative for them and make enough people think they are standing up to big business. I see that Manchin and Mark Warner are now complaining about the infrastructure bill not being pro-corporate enough. I guess we will see how much of it they ruin...
  10. One of the main soaps that would still thrive today if given the chance. Anyway, this episode is already up on Youtube, but in two clips, and not in the best quality. This version was uploaded last week and is in better shape.
  11. I didn't know she was still alive. RIP.
  12. Search seemed to be the exception to the rule for 15-minute soaps and humor (and maybe someone felt that a show about a young widow who was constantly at threat of losing her livelihood as well as custody of her daughter needed some lightness).
  13. Just another reminder of the sickening propaganda of that paper. Voter suppression doesn't "just go away." Just in 2020 alone there was an article (I can't find it now) saying the states with the highest amounts of voter suppression laws had the lowest turnout. There is a deeply concerted effort in the mainstream press to praise and support voter suppression laws. I hope someone digs into exactly why that is (beyond the likelihood it will lead to a GOP landslide, which the media wants more than anything).
  14. I thought someone else had died. Glad that isn't the case.
  15. Circling the wagons for the right wing Rolling Stone owners (I notice Dave Weigel has been retweeting and amplifying so many right wing talking points lately - he must want to get back on Chapo).
  16. @I Am A Swede in case you didn't see it, my link above has the last few minutes of May 1989 episode. (the day is wrong, but only by a day)
  17. This will just keep happening - the insurrection was an open invitation. I'm very sorry for the officer and his family. You will be shocked to hear that voices like Glenn Greenwald and Matt Stoller, who loudly claimed the fencing and security was too much, have nothing to say. (Greenwald is too busy trying to attack Sarah Cooper for clicks)
  18. Pathetic. The media is working overtime to try to "well actually" how decimating these voter suppression laws are.
  19. Another Life commercial 1984 - YouTube
