  1. I think Cali's Paulina was still more involved with Grant.
  2. If she wants to return full time but doesn't want the tie to Wally, they could just bring Rena on as Rocky from Loving. (to be honest I liked Rocky more than Lois anyway)
  3. It's those last few years, even if the creative decisions often don't work for me, where I feel like you have more unique characters, especially in the younger set. I feel like the writers got a little more of a chance at breathing room there compared to the time Shaffer was on...other than Ava and maybe Gwyn and Egypt, there weren't any interesting characters to write for.
  4. @slick jones This March 1980 episode seems to have another role for Dominic Chianese, unless this is the "Earl Johnson [date unknown]" For anyone who doesn't want to go through each individual "The Chase" Roger/Holly clip, someone put them all together here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCtEV-hj89E
  5. Former ‘RHONY’ Star Ramona Singer Dropped From BravoCon After Racial Slur – Deadline
  6. I don't think that was the problem with Catlin or Barrett. Catlin was an interesting actress but not a soap ingenue as Faith was intended to be. Barrett, frankly, came across as too old for the part to me and also very mannered (I say that as someone who was a huge fan of her work on Dark Shadows). The main problem is that Faith was just a lousy part. It's interesting to see that even Catherine Hicks, far and away the best Faith, did not enjoy a lot of her work. Thanks for all you've shared with us. As for Mary, I think killing her was 100% the right decision. I don't believe this hurt Jack's airtime - I think Michael Levin getting older as the show was getting younger made that shift inevitable. Mary's death and Jack struggling to let her go was an incredibly powerful storyline.
  7. I'm very sorry to hear this. I still remember Tyler Baker, the ethereally beautiful young man who took daytime by storm. SPW or SOD had an interview and photo shoot called "The Fabulous Baker Boy," and he was. He remained so even with everything he went through. Even through all those years, Tyler remained well-loved by fans. I can't tell you how many times I'd see him trending and seeing fans calling for his return. Very rough year for daytime.
  8. moving to other thread
  9. Thanks for telling me @Vee and telling all of us. This is a delightful surprise. I'm especially looking forward to the Steven/Vicki sequence as Steven is such an underexplored character.
  10. I was never overly fond of Bob Barker, but I did like that the show kept appealing to new generations and was a destination for college kids on Spring Break. I wonder if anyone in the last fifteen years has given a damn. I never hear anyone talk about this show or about Let's Make a Deal.
  11. Very sorry to hear about Matthew. I remember his struggles but he always fought so hard. I was never involved with Friends but he was always a very charismatic and likeable actor. Just recently I was watching some of his short show with Valerie Bertinelli, Sydney, and he was so charming, as he never stopped being. My thoughts are with all of his fans here, and with his loved ones.
  12. As @jam6242 mentioned in the Memorium thread, Dorothy Stinnette recently passed away. I remember Dorothy best for her dynamic work on here, as Kate. Dorothy Stinnette Obituary (1928 - 2023) - New York City, NY - Wichita Eagle (legacy.com) About 5 years ago, someone left a 2017 interview in the comment section of this video.
  13. Very sad to hear this. I think I may remember her best from her time playing Kate Philips, the mother from hell, on Another Life, the victim in the show's big murder mystery. It was fascinating to watch her act. I didn't want to clog with videos, but in the AL thread I put a video that has some lengthy interview quotes with Dorothy from 2017.
  14. Angela Rippon is a legend in the UK - I imagine Angela Lansbury would have enjoyed this.

  16. Kirstie would have been a better choice.
  17. Thanks for these tidbits. Ann never should have been hired in the first place, but that's not her fault. Seneca being gay would have made some sense.
  18. Such a wonderful site, especially all the old articles. I was so grateful to find it after starting RH on Soapnet.
  19. She mainly has one scene in the first episode - around 25 minutes, she's upset that her daughter calls to say she's not returning to Oakdale (I think her daughter was Bilan or something like that), instead selling movie tickets in Florida.
  20. We'll be back to this within a few years. I always want to be defensive when other countries talk about how backward the US is, but no wonder.
  21. A few other videos that used to be on Youtube and someone now reuploaded. Sad sighting of Chris Hughes wandering around as an extra in the last clip. I always forget Eileen Fulton was still on as Lisa by this point. She wasn't really gone for that long, although I imagine it would have felt longer at the time. I never can remember how many times John "died" in this period. Who decided Kim and Lisa should have the same hairstyle? I love that Kim's reaction to seeing Steve is just complete exhaustion. Me too, Kim... The whole music video presentation of the show's "supercouples" at this time (as shown with Betsy wandering around aimlessly to a treacly tune) is interesting to me because they didn't do this later in the decade with big couples like Lily and Holden, even though music videos were even more of a mainstay by that point. I always forget about that dull drug runner Bob was married to until I see her again. There's something grotesque in remembering that each actress who played Margo (aside from Glynis O'Connor) miscarried Tom's baby. The misogyny of soaps... The chemistry between Margo and Tom is probably the only part of the Dobsons' reinvention of Tom that stuck after Deas left. It had become very, very intense by this point, to where (especially in the second clip) I almost want to look away. I was going to ask if any viewers at the time had an inkling that they were together in real life, but then I remember how little chemistry Larry Brygmann had with his real-life partners on ATWT, so maybe not. You can tell how much Deas loves Colin because he genuinely tries in those scenes rather than just going gonzo, as he often did with his screen partners on his other soaps. They were both doing much more of that usual style earlier on, I guess before the feelings hit.
  22. I also wanted to ask - who are the longest and shortest lasting DWTS/Real Housewives participants? I mean people who went on DWTS after their shows, not people like Lisa Rinna.
