  1. I can't seem to embed tweets anymore...don't know if that's a screwup on my part or if it is a Twitter change.
  2. They easily could have with that Janet character.
  3. More from North Carolina and Nevada. The Nevada one is interesting to me as it helps explain 2022 (where Democrats scraped through but lost the gubernatorial race) and the possible early vote this year. Black turnout is lagging in North Carolina, a warning sign for Harris - POLITICO https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2024/10/30/swing-state-nevada-california-kamala-harris-issue-00185718 This seems likely to come down to the Blue Wall. Hopefully the recent polls of Trump winning PA aren't accurate (one is from Quinnipac, which sucks all around). Meanwhile, Trump is getting fawning press for posing in a garbage truck (which along with the latest stunt House probe into the matter is another reminder of what a gift the comment has been to them), but they likely will not be speaking of this image:
  4. I don't think Hartley would have wanted a full-time stint. That should, on paper, mean a lot of great aftermath or story, but you know how that goes. You could say Cody feels like Drew has everything and he has nothing, but I don't know if that is intended.
  5. I don't know what normal people means in 2024 America. I know what I wish it meant, but we see all these polls claiming that so many believe they were better off four years ago, that Trump is at his most popular ever, and even if I don't believe polls, there's still so many out there who love Trump, in public and press. I know I don't have a problem with what Biden said, but CNN pushing the line, it being used against Democrats in Congressional races, and Walz and Harris both having to forcefully push back against Biden's comment tells me that it did hit a nerve. I think the worst aspect is that we went from Republicans being (relatively) divided over the hate rally to having a rallying cry. The optics of them getting to blast Harris and Biden for saying half the country is garbage (with it not mattering that none of this is accurate) at Trump's events, while Harris was repeatedly heckled and jeered by assholes at her events today, aren't great as a closing campaign message. Unity, whatever unity means today, is now with the other side in these closing days. I hadn't seen these comments from Pete Buttigieg, but as it turns out, he was right.
  6. I'd agree if it wasn't Trump. Most of the betting markets are scams/money sinkers for his backers, but they are also comfort blankets, because Trump believes he should be winning everywhere. The polls that come out that are on his side serve the same purpose. In 2016 Trump and his people were claiming that it was rigged, even though his campaign often dominated the narrative and ended up winning. After he won, he still went around claiming that votes were suppressed, and he was cheated. From what was said at the time, he mostly just had one hit and was trying to latch onto something that would get him attention or a new audience. He faced so much backlash at the time (and humiliation as Trump thought he was a woman), he must be thrilled he got his escape hatch. 50 Cent said that he was offered $3 million to perform at the RNC or the MSG hate rally but declined. They are chasing the male demo at literally any cost. No wonder they keep having that piece of [!@#$%^&*] Hulk Hogan struggling to tear his shirt off.
  7. @dc11786 Thanks so much for these rundowns. I never listen to these shows but I need to try someday while I still can.
  8. That traumatized me so much. I was way too young to be seeing it. I tried to watch a bit again when I saw it on YT but just couldn't.
  9. I agree - that was a genuinely disturbing moment, both the direction and the chilling performance from Candace Daly. There was something incredibly unsettling about the entire storyline, even before the shooting - you could tell Veronica was NOT going to be one of Bill Bell's signature unhinged schemers who would go on to become fun or a quasi-heroine. The audio used to be on YouTube but I don't see it now - the scene of Suzanne screaming and screaming as she is gaslit by a "dead" Katharine (including putting a tarantula in her room, IIRC) is very frightening, likely helped by not being able to see it. Similarly, this clip being so busted helps add to the horror vibes, especially Jill's fantasy/nightmare about meeting her baby.
  10. It does feel like Ross is demoted for most of the mid-late '80s. I am sometimes surprised he even lasted through the decade. I notice in the '80s he sometimes wears a sweater that I could swear Jim Matthews (who was 40 years older) wore on AW, which they ditched in the '90s. Matt and Blake would have made sense as a pairing if they had wanted to split up Ross and Blake for a while...more sense than Rick and Blake ever did. Hope's exit does seem very rushed. I wonder if they knew Chris Bernau was quitting and they had issues with Don Stewart, so she was collateral damage. That and P&G/Kobe wanting rid of the Bauers. I do think Elvera Roussel was one of a number of actors who lost their spark in the Marland era. She seems to have much more drive in what I've seen of her in 1979.
  11. I keep seeing reports on things not going well in EV in Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, etc. There is still the Blue Wall, hopefully, but having to count on them makes me wary as polling is so tight (many even having him up), and Trump outperformed polling the last two times he ran. So much favors Trump in this environment that any distraction hurts Harris. The day that should have been about her closing speech, her moment, becomes about Biden's comments and allows for an easy hook for Trump supporters. I think it's sad that the media laps this up, but I do think they will, because this is their dream come true.
  12. I think the best time would have been when they originally thought of recasting Hope (around 1986). By the time Maureen died, the Bauers were already so diminished, and Alan-Michael barely had ties to the family. He was also mostly written as a foil to "good" characters. Hope could have bonded with Michelle, and been some presence in A-M's life, but I'm not sure how much effort they would have made. I wish they had brought Mike, Hope, and a recast Alan-Michael back in the late '90s.
  13. I feel like there's already a lot which shows how much he's still in this (polling, early voting, reports of lack of motivation for her in some swing states like Michigan, the tone of her campaign over the last week having to lean so much into fascism and focusing on him which suggests she or her campaign may not have much confidence in themselves), so I don't think it's right to blame everything on him, but, misconstrued or not, the timing was absolutely perfect for Trump and for the media. They were tired of the MSG story and can now motivate his supporters as well as anyone who was wavering and the brain dead "undecideds" who love shiny objects. This is the exact type of story that the Beltway press loves. It's something they can pin on the wall as the "moment" Trump won, so that will make their job easier. It frames the conversation to a place where Trump and his supporters look like badasses fighting back against the elite world of Biden and Harris. It also means Harris will have to face question after question asking whether she thinks Trump supporters are garbage. It's deplorables all over again.
  14. I remember watching the AWA finale back on WoST - one of the few soap episodes I got to watch on there. It's so very of the time but also moving. I hope Clifton being back on daytime may cause something else from the show to appear. It will be nice to see him back in a major role. About 4-5 years ago he was on I Think You Should Leave, with Fred Willard (RIP), and he still looked great.
  15. You're right. The nuances in the Tracy and Cody relationship were very different to most soaps these days (these decades...) and I will be disappointed if he just starts conning her while pining for Sasha. There was some backlash on Twitter about Drew/Nina from Nina fans and from the many fans who hate CM's Drew, and some said the whole thing was trashy and degrading, but I remember seeing a lot of people enjoying the kiss because they thought it would lead to juicy drama. Juicy drama seems to be an anathema to Frank.
  16. I had wondered what happened to some of the brain dead Teen Vogue figures who were meant to save the world.
  17. About that last post...
  18. Oh good, another reminder of why I can't stand that show and Jon Stewart in general. (and I did watch the clip) Jon Stewart Defends Tony Hinchcliffe: Trump Rally Had a Roast Comic
  19. The numbers in Georgia and Nevada still don't look good to me (apparently young voters are way off in Georgia compared to 2020) so hopefully North Carolina can be a nice surprise Tuesday night. The Walz story seems to exist for people who obsess over China and think that Biden/Harris are beholden to China. Something most people won't care about but is potentially effective at driving up turnout among the flank of union voters already leaning their way. The comments at the hate rally are something I think will hurt Democrats if they focus on them too much, because people will just buy into the line about how the left are wimpy and can't take a joke, but they do at least remind voters of the raw ugliness of the GOP, getting away from conversations about fascism and Hitler. The New Republic has always been a mixed bag (just with ever-decreasing writing quality), but some of their articles recently have interested me - mainly about the limited effects of campaigning with Liz Cheney (this wasn't written from a left wing anti-Cheney view and more from the view that any of those voters are likely going to Harris anyway and most of the Lincoln Project were never very successful politically so aren't the best to emulate) and of the fascist argument not really winning anyone over (Politico also said as much in a new article, yet again set with voters in Michigan, who feel the more the race is about Trump the more likely he wins). This is interesting, for lack of a better term, just because it recaps all the levels of misogyny and sexist spewing from Trump and his allies recently. There's some idea which seems to have stuck that the argument is only over abortion, when the GOP is fully committed to humiliating and degrading women. https://newrepublic.com/article/187419/trumps-promise-young-men-retribution-against-women This person is at least one example of a conservative who is voting for Harris, even if he has to make a fuss about it. Hopefully there are enough in swing states (this person is in Missouri).
  20. I don't blame all the people who work at CNN, but I do think in order to work there you have to enable the worst elements of society and ultimately that's what carries the network. This guy is the new version of the Trump supporter who did a Nazi salute oncamera. They get rid of scapegoats and keep the Scott Jennings of the world. USA Today - I am surprised they didn't endorse Trump as anything I see of them is right wing op-eds.
  21. He will probably cheat with Melanie and then leave in shame.
