  5. I do wonder if Beverlee could have played "dumb", the way Kathryn could. I can see her a little more easily as Mary, although I LOVED Cathryn Diamond, she was so underrated. I loved that alcoholism story so much, even if it only lasted for a few episodes.
  6. I'm glad to hear that. I just wish I could like the characters again. I liked Masood in that CIN special more than I have on Eastenders in almost a year. There is some confusion about whether Thomas Law (Peter) is leaving the show for good, or just to do Christmas panto.
  7. Krista Tesreau said in an SOD from the early 90s that she auditioned to play Gloria on AMC, and that it came down to her and another actress (Teresa Blake I assume). She said she was surprised she got that far because she didn't feel like she suited the role. Frank Dicopolus's wife, Teja Anderson, auditioned to replace Krista as Mindy. Richard Steinmetz and some other guy named Todd both auditioned to play Trucker, and were given other roles.
  8. I didn't know she was married to that actor. That's fascinating. Beverlee had so many ties to the sitcom world, it's a shame she never had a big role on one. How did Lydia do as Alex? I didn't know she had played that role.
  9. He died in 1984. I didn't know he was in The Groove Tube. One article just refers to her ex as a successful businessman and says they divorced when their son was 3.
  10. Thanks as always for your detailed answers! I feel like I've seen this all myself after I read your posts. I wonder if anyone at SFT during the time of the Hershey kiss incident were at AMC when Janet hit someone with a large fake candy cane. I guess some of that must be online, but I wish I could see Estelle. I have to admit that the ad campaign for her seemed so silly to me - and also dated, as by 1986 Dynasty was already on the way down - I had assumed she might not be great. I'm glad to hear she was. Did the actress do anything else on soaps? I'm surprised they still thought they might be on the air in September 1986. Then again I think I read in a Digest from 1985 that the ratings had been rising, so who knows. I guess NBC did surprise some by keeping it on past 1982. Was there any official reason, besides ratings, that NBC finally stopped? Or was it P&G?
  11. I can't imagine how much tougher it is for NY actors now. I thought the pregnant woman was a fan or something, I didn't realize she was the author until I knew they had the same first name. You usually hear people in showbiz talk about how much they love each other but you can really feel it in this article, how much they cared about each other and how she kept him going. He loved her so much that he was willing to share these very private thoughts, such as how she's what keeps him from losing all self-esteem, or that she helped him pay for dental work. Some of these oh-so-sensitive articles from the 70s seem paper-thin but this one seemed very genuine to me. Which is how Beverlee always seemed. That's one of those weird parts of life though -- they're both gone yet they seem so alive when you are reading this. You almost feel like you're there.
  12. How would you compare Shaffer's Stephanie and Estelle, who was supposed to be the new Alexis? Did they interact? I'm surprised that they would kill off Suzi when the show was ending. Maybe this was supposed to make some statement about life or whatever. Do you think the casting was a problem with Beau and Cissy or no one would have made it better?
  13. Here is the only other page. One page is missing.
  14. Did any other soap ever offer Sherry a role? I was going to ask about Kathy. I think I might have asked this before, but what did you think of her character and do you think recasting her after Courtney Sherman left was necessary? Did Courtney return after Nicolette Goulet left? I can't remember. I had also wanted to ask if you thought it was a mistake to fire Millee Taggart. Did Janet ever appear on NBC's run?
  15. From the September 1975 Day TV. Lopez Publications Inc One page is missing, as it had been torn out, but most is intact. I will type up the last page.
  16. Was Evie the character Joanna Going and Colleen Dion (?) played? Lisa Peluso left SFT before the end, right? Did Wendy go with her or did they recast? And they recast Suzi after Cynthia Gibb, right? How long was it between Travis's death and the story with Hogan? Do you think Sherry suited it as much as she did the story with Travis? I was also going to ask, if you saw any of that, what you thought of Patsy Pease's character, the one who had a custody battle with Liza and Travis, and if you thought they could have done more with her. I wonder if the show would have killed Stephanie if Maree had stayed.
  17. dc thanks for all this insight and information. I read it over and over, the details are so rich, and you have so many great ideas. You're right that this may have been too much for LOL viewers, for the type of show that LOL was, a very strict black and white show. Was Jamie recast after Ray Wise left? I saw that there is an LP that Gene Bua recorded in the late 60s. I wonder if it was successful.
  18. Jordan was around very briefly. A month? Or less. She came in to introduce Dani. I wonder if she had any scenes with Craig at this time. I think Betsy was the type of heroine ATWT probably stopped knowing how to write by the 90s, a good, supportive, yet strong heroine. They should have brought Betsy back in the last few years if they were serious about "redeeming" Craig. Sadly I wonder if anyone in charge of ATWT in the last 12-13 years even knew who she was.
  19. I love that Y&RWT. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7H7OTa6ss1E
  20. Were all the departures because of a new producer or did some of the actors leave? Are there any you think should have stayed? I wonder why they didn't at least keep Carly around. Then again I know little about her. I hadn't heard anything about Matt until I saw him in some old magazines from then. That story about his father sounds like way too much -- how was it onscreen? Apparently Matt was also on drugs. So aside from Tony, all the men Ally was involved with were drug addicts or drug dealers. Wow.
  21. I can't get over Eileen's outfit in that photo with Corbin and Jeanne...she looks like the Pirate of Avonlea or something. I think these were usually published a month or more after the events happened. I get confused when I read some of the Digests from summer 87 as they still reference Brenda being there.
  22. This is all so fascinating. I don't know why they would have dropped the story. Did they want to try to get people interested in the new Liza? And then Hogan ended up with Patty didn't he? I wonder if fans accepted the last Patty or if by then they just didn't care. Who was Sarah? Lloyd was the one played by Robert Reed?
  23. I didn't know that's what caused Munker to leave. I had wondered if she was fired. I wish they had just let her leave town, because a sister to Barbara and niece to Kim, talk about years of story material! I would guess Ryan and Bloom probably still don't want to be known for their soap work. As you mentioned, Moore has always been gracious. I saw an interview with her in a late 91 Digest, when her career was just starting to find steam, and she talked fondly about ATWT, mentioned that she was still very close to Finn Carter and Steven Weber and stayed with them when she had to go to LA (I wonder if they're still close), and said she had worked with Mary Ellen Stuart in a play and thought she was warm and wonderfully talented and had called to congratulate her on getting the role of Frannie. I do wonder about Parker Posey and Kevin Gibson, as I never hear them talk about their soap runs, but maybe I wasn't looking. Thanks for reading. I have some other ATWT stuff too if you are interested in any of it, let me know and I'll put more up. The ATWT tribute thread I put a lot in but it's still a bit tough adjusting to ATWT being officially gone. Was that without Ellie?
