  1. I haven't watched the fire yet, but even those at DS who want to love the show feel that it has been confusing and flawed. And the ratings aren't that different from a regular episode at this time of year. Apparently major scenes were cut, I think the whole thing was a pointless stunt.
  2. 5 AM Eastern. At one time they tried to knock it down to one episode a night, when they were so clearly, and clumsily, phasing out their older soaps, but then they went back to 2 a night. Ryan's Hope is a survivor (and I imagine Delia would have made their life hell...).
  3. Thanks for what you remembered, that sounds like some of it might have been good. I can't remember most of it. It's sad to watch 1981 sometimes, especially anything with that nasal Siobhan. I kind of wonder how the ratings would have been by that point if ABC soaps hadn't been going through a huge boom period. Yeah, Paddy was good, although I think he was at his most interesting early on as a bit of a jerk. I liked the good boy/bad boy combo with Bucky and Pat. Has Justin Deas ever talked about his RH days? I wonder why he had no story for like his last year and a half on the show.
  4. Baby Daniel was actually the biological child of Greg and Mel Doland. The Dolands' child, Arthur, was actually Laurel and Ashley's. Laurel was very reluctant to accept this child and only reluctantly went along with Ashley's decision to fight for a paternity test and custody.
  5. Emmerdale had a very underrated baby switch story. Corrie had one with Michelle that was such a disaster it is no longer mentioned.
  6. Have you heard the item about
  7. Aaron is basically a loser -- that's what every story seems to be about. At this rate I think they should just write him out since they are never going to develop him. To have some poor guy crippled just to make us weep for Aaron because Aaron doesn't know how to love, it's like bad fanfic.
  8. The DS threads on Eastenders are like a feeding frenzy lately. I haven't watched the show in the past few weeks, I've just taken a bit of a break from the British soaps, but I wonder if it is really that much worse than the last few years. Some are claiming it's worse than 2004. People are calling for Kirkwood's firing. I think the polarization and anger has gotten to the point where even if Eastenders became brilliant each episode some would be disappointed. I've had that feeling myself with some shows, and it's hard to get out of that mindset.
  9. Yes, I'm watching again. I had to see Nell one last time, and the early stories with Bucky and Pat and Jack/Mary, and some of the early moments of establishing the characters. The show did such a good job of using Frank to show us so many different people. As much as I liked some of Frank's later stories, after they finally got the right actor, I still wish they'd been allowed by ABC to kill him off. I think Ilene Kristen is a real dynamo as she tries to find her feet in this role. There is a haunting quality to Delia which is lost by 1976 or so. It was there again with Randall Edwards, but again, the show didn't use it, because Delia is so tempting to just use as an instigator.
  10. From the July 1971 Daytime TV. Sterling's Magazines, Inc

  12. Thanks once again for your tireless work.

  14. Thanks! The way she words this I can see why some felt like it was just a PR stunt. I wonder if this is the only time Olympia Dukakis did live TV. Not to mention most of the other actors (I'm sure Larry Haines had). Did any of you see the episode? Did anything interesting happen? Devore went on to be on OLTL later in the decade.
  15. Thanks. I'm glad you read them. I will be putting up some more soon.
  16. I think Kevin is kind of cute, and funny and he has a nice butt. This story trashed him -- before it started he was a really nice guy. I was more confused as to why he would be interested in Molly. The story with the two of them was just terrible. They began running together and this led to an affair, complete with horrible lines like, "I want to jump your bones." They got married when they were both about 16 or 17, and they were too young to handle a marriage. The last straw was when she got pregnant and Nick guilted her into having an abortion. She never forgave him. I can't get into this story, as I just do not like Nick, and I hate what they have done to Leanne/Peter. And Carla the pathetic drunk who has zero purpose on the show and falls in love with Peter after ten minutes.
  17. I don't believe Iris could ever doubt Mac. That's a good scene though, very strong acting (weird seeing Iris with those curls that seem more suited to a teen pop star).
  18. I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask questions about older stories, instead of the current stuff, so I apologize if it is the wrong place. I was just wondering if Claire Labine ever wrote for Tracy, and how much of Wendy Riche's time as producer involved Tracy. I know some felt that Tracy's 1996 return was not true to the character, and she didn't stand up for herself enough, and that the 1993 exit, where Jenny made her leave town, wasn't quite right. I haven't seen a lot of this, so I was wondering how fans who had seen it felt. I was also wondering what you thought of her scenes with Marco Dane.
  19. Reading the spoilers posted on DS tonight, it looks like
  20. I have heard some say Michelle could not act, but I think that she was good at conveying the emotions of her character, which is very important. I also thought she worked really well with most of the men in Cindy's life. I still think there is room to bring Cindy back from the dead. Steve McFadden has been arrested. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ukpress/article/ALeqM5jklhqYBZ8e2E83iXMqJVFnW7DrpQ?docId=N0204191289080163167A
