  1. From the February 15, 1994 Soap Opera Magazine (SOM Publishing Inc).
  2. From the December 23, 1997 Soap Opera News (SOM Publishing Inc). Rare to get a Bucky Carter shoutout...
  3. From the December 23, 1997 Soap Opera News (SOM Publishing Inc).
  4. For some reason I thought Lloyd Batista took over for Ray Wise. I guess I got that mixed up because of the name Ray. What did you think of LOL around the time of this article? Do you remember Marsha Mason's role? Odd that they didn't mention her brief cameo on Dark Shadows as a vampire in 1970.
  5. Some sublime Rachel/Iris scenes start at about 36 minutes into this episode. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9n9L4jzpVi8&feature=BF&list=SL&index=75
  6. I forgot to mention that the article is by Lesleyann Medeiros. The photography by John Paschal. Hair and makeup, Lisa Fanjoy; wardrobe styling, Cliff Hoppus; wardrobe: Black camisole by Hanro of Switzerland, top by Juicy Tees, red top by Katayone Adele, jeans by Sergio Valente.
  7. That's all fascinating stuff. Sometimes I wonder if at that time there was such a move for new and different that they expected too much of viewers, expected viewers to give up too many relationships or characters who compelled them. How did you feel about Ben's prison rape story? That's when the character was reformed wasn't it? I wish I knew more about Vivian Carlson. How long was her character around? What did you think of Ray Wise? Did you think his replacement was as good in the role of Jamie? I was also going to ask what you thought of the actor who played Rick before Jerry Lacy.
  8. From the June 20, 2000 Weekly (Primedia). The text was a bit blurry so I cropped most of that.
  9. Tina Sloan interview from the June 20, 2000 Weekly (Primedia). Some of the text went blurry so I cropped that and will type up the last page.
  10. So true. I think that fashion is dull now and has been for a long time, but the popularity of artists like Beyonce, Rihanna and Lady Gaga among others shows that a lot of people still want to see vibrant colors and clothes. And the stuff in that Y&R photo is sedate by late 80s standards. You see the boobs first and everything else last. You probably already have this but in one of these from the late 70s I have a black and white photo of her at the beach in the waves, boobs ahoy (I guess it was the black and white version of a color poster?). I will try to post that when I find it again.
  11. I'm not sure either. I think she's said in the past that she wants to stay. I won't miss Becky at this point, although she can at least act.
  12. From the January 14, 1997 Weekly. (K-III Magazines)
  13. Thanks - that's a shame. This is the June 1972 TV Dawn to Dusk (Ideal Publishing Corp) serial of the month profile. I will type the other pages up. If any of you who know so much about the show's past have anything to add with this that would be great.
  14. I know Higgs and Ginger Gerlach killed themselves - who were the others?
  15. I have a few old Jane Elliot interviews from her various soaps - I would be happy to post them here but I wanted to ask first because I thought it would be rude to just throw things in and assume someone wants to read them cluttering up the board. If you're interested in any of them let me know and I will post a few.
  16. It also fits into the misogynistic tone which pervades the show now.
  17. I don't think Ilene would have been given the level of material LML gave Judith Chapman. Judith just seemed to click with Lynn Marie and it doesn't seem very easy to do that.
  18. Ha ha ha, "Georgetown salons."
  19. Yet another depressing, plot-driven exit on the way. Corrie used to be one of the most character-driven shows on TV -- between this and everyone's amnesia about Sally's adultery it's tough to call it that now. http://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/s3/coronation-street/news/a293971/janice-battersbys-exit-plot-revealed.html
  20. The worst part is he's going to have major role on the armed forces committee in the next Congress, so along with his fellow bigots in the House and Senate, and Obama's usual inaction along with those in high military roles who oppose the repeal, they might do something to either stop this or make the ban even worse. It always annoys me how the "liberal" media tries to make this a shocking, polarizing issue, rarely reporting that most people support repeal.
  21. That's awful. How long was he on LOL? I always miss your posts as you have such insight into soap history but I'm glad that positive things are keeping you away from SON. I'll upload stuff when I can and hope you'll have time to read it.
