  1. Was the 4-L stuff always so histrionic in the later years?? I am a bit appalled but also want to see more.
  2. I will miss her mostly because I thought she added some campy fun. I wish they had not given her that poor story with Phil and Ian. It squandered the character. It seems like behind the scenes show is in a bit of a mess these days. I still think Bryan Kirkwood deserves more time because I have liked some of his work at EE but with the ratings decline the last few weeks I'm not sure what will happen.
  3. You both probably already know this but it looks like Glynis Barber is being written out. I will miss Glenda and her bond with Carol. http://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/s2/eastenders/news/a306092/glynis-barber-confirms-enders-departure.html
  4. I didn't realize until reading IMDB that this is the same Emily Prager who was very very briefly a featured player on SNL, along with Laurie Metcalf. Emily is also the only cast member to never actually appear on-air (her one sketch was cut). Wow. http://snltranscripts.jt.org/80/80m.phtml http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/bios/emily-prager.shtml
  5. Yeah Pat was very interested in physical health and so on, it's mentioned several times in the 70s magazines. I still can't believe how young she was compared to the role she was playing. There's a photo of her from last year with her husband and the woman who played Ariel Aldrin (how random!). I still wonder why they never brought Ariel back later on. http://www.caller.com/photos/2010/apr/15/77161/ Mitch I may have asked this before but do you feel like Tom changed when Marland took over? When I see episodes like the April 1985 one I posted above it seems like Tom is still written as more of the hothead of the Deas era. With Marland I think of Marx's Tom as being quieter, with his anger more under the surface and his pain more internalized.
  6. dc this must be the article you mentioned about hot pants. November 1971 Daytime TV.
  7. Thanks for reading. I wonder how he felt about Trey becoming more of the straightforward leading man. It's too bad he didn't find a better role after this than the short run as Max (which he seemed to be really invested in, along with Fiona, but it was wrong role/wrong place/wrong time). He is and was a very handsome and dominant presence. BTW, let me know if you ever want me to post the black and white Constance scans from the article you posted - it turns out I have the same issue.
  8. From the February 1983 Daytime TV.

  13. Thanks for sharing those! Wow. These drug pushing stories seemed to pop up in the radio soaps in the 50s for some reason, didn't they? One of Rosemary's last stories was about this. So this was one of the last radio soaps to go?
  14. Sure, if you think she'd enjoy the article. I hope she does If you want me to scan the actual pages of text just let me know - I usually don't because they can blur and typing them out means people can see the words. That's great about Donald May. I hope to be as active if I get to 82. I'm glad the articles help make you feel better. When I have a chance I will scan more.
  15. From the January 1972 TV Dawn to Dusk. I will add the rest later when I can find it again. I'm really sorry about the bad cropping on these scans.
  16. From the May 1972 Daytime TV (Sterling).
  17. It would be interesting to see Carol dealing with Liam, but I wouldn't mind if they all go. I just hope they can still write for Carol. It was interesting to see how many immediately assumed he was quitting for good (where else would he go??). Didn't the Mirror also claim he was leaving because of the baby swap? Come on. Everything these days is slanted into some sort of Eastenders failure.
  18. That's interesting. Besides what you mentioned, all I can remember is Ellen Burstyn appearing on the show as Dr. Kate Bartok.
  19. From the December 1954 and January 1955 issues of TV Radio Mirror. Never was a wedding more clouded over by ominous thoughts than that of Vanessa to Paul Raven. Even Van found it hard to forget the unknown secret of Paul's past, though she had determined not to let it come between them. Will the day come when she must forget that decision? Will the curiosity of her sister Meg make that day come even sooner than it had to? Can a bride ever forgive her husband for allowing business to break up their honeymoon? Vanessa might be able to if she did not suspect that Paul's sudden return to his home town had something to do with his first wife. What will she do when she discovers what Judith really intends to do - and how much power can she put behind the effort? Will the vicious Judith get unexpected help from Van's sister Meg?
  20. From the December 1954 and January 1955 issues of Radio TV Mirror. Bertha Bauer's campaign to revive the marriage of Kathy and Dr. Dick Grant acquires several assistants - her own husband and Dick's father among them. Dick's friend, Dr. Jim Kelly, once felt the same way, but how would he feel now if Kathy, of whom he has become so fond, showed new interest in her ex-husband? Is Dick too involved in conflict with Dr. Thomson to wonder about his personal life? Dr. Dick Grant has only his own indecision to blame as he finds himself under the brusque authority of Dr. Thompson, the surgeon hired by Dr. Baird to fill the position Dick could have had. Will nurse Janet Johnson find in Dr. Thompson the tool she needs to carve her revenge against Dick? Meanwhile, Dick's ex-wife also courts trouble as she tries to forget her marriage in a round of gaiety.
