  1. Thanks. I heard about that and saw that some fans took it as the show saying ATWT was just a show in the BtG universe. I'm glad that doesn't seem to be the case.
  2. I assume so. Harney is fine in her work for those episodes but you can guess how much better Courtney may have been. At least that was a birthday to remember...they should have had Olive send out letters of apology to viewers.
  3. An Alcoa Premiere with Barbara Luna. Just to warn - the episode is not about Robert and Barbara being in the bath. Hour of the Bath--Robert Fuller, Barbara Luna, 1962 TV - YouTube Thanks @sunvsbanner I hadn't seen that photo. I always associate Linda with her shorter cuts but the length here looks good too.
  4. John died on March 6, 1979. Susan's last appearance was on March 20th.
  5. @I Am A Swede @CassieFan @AMCOLTLLover @Bright Eyes This isn't directly Emmerdale related but I thought it was fascinating. A pilot filmed in 2009 on Emmerdale's sets. Several of the actors eventually had roles on Emmerdale (the lead also played Tracy's husband on Corrie in the '90s and '00s - his best mate here would go on to play Tracy's lover). This really made me nostalgic for those sets compared to what replaced them.
  6. Carmen Duncan's first episode of A Country Practice. She was in 14 from 1982-1986 so this channel will, if it stays up, presumably upload them all in time. @DaytimeFan A Country Practice – Season 2, Episode 19: Beatin’ Around the Bush (Part 1)
  7. That story sums up why I was not enjoying the show at the time. The plots had potential, but the beats just didn't feel natural and I couldn't connect. It didn't help that by that point I was already tired of transplant stories along these lines. I did think the stories began pulling together in the last months of 2002, but sadly that regime was then shown the door. Mel may have arrived first but I think the plans for the family were always there. They cast well-respected soap actors Richard Biggs and Shari Headley as her parents. Once it became obvious neither was going to get a storyline, they left. The father was repeatedly recast, while the mother was played by Kim Brockington, whom I did like. I think early on they hinted at marriage problems, and the father was used in a college protest story, but not much. I like Yvonna but Mel was indeed generic. I think she benefited in the last years when they had her realize how toxic Beth/Rick were, end her marriage, and somehow ended up with Cyris/
  8. @EricMontreal22 Not sure if you have already heard this, but it is a 1976 interview with Dan Wakefield. American Archive of Public BroadcastingPantechnicon; Dan WakefieldLouis Lyons "Pantechnicon is a nightly magazine featuring segments on issues, arts, and ideas in New England."
  9. At around 55 minutes you get a look at the Cape May home of one of the show's directors, Grossman (?). American Archive of Public BroadcastingSegments (10) - [R11, DUB]; State of the ArtsNo Description
  10. At about 17 or 18 minutes you can see Sherry Mathis onstage - sadly they talk over most of her singing. https://americanarchive.org/catalog/cpb-aacip-259-df6k3c97
  11. At around 6 minutes there's a Cassandra Creech interview, and a backstage tour. https://americanarchive.org/catalog/cpb-aacip-129-32d7wt4d
  12. At about ten minutes, Arthur Peterson talks about auditioning for the role of John Rutledge on Guiding Light and playing the part for a decade. He says the "there is a destiny" poem was part of the audition. American Archive of Public BroadcastingArtsnotes '88Art and Poetry Stories in KS.@Reverend Ruthledge
  13. They sure did. She managed to even make that, whatever it was, work.
  14. At about 14 minutes there is a news segment on Harry Carson doing a cameo on OLTL. He plays an athlete named Frank Sparrow. They include a clip where Pat is interviewing him - it goes on a bit longer than I'd expected. Based on the date I assume this aired on December 26, 1979. You also get a glimpse of Linda Dano as Gretel. 15. That's great. I'm glad they are acknowledging ATWT.
  16. I agree. If that happens then it feels like they are only a breath away from pairing her with Sidwell...
  17. I thought Daniel was always more of an idea of a good looking leading man than one who clicked in that role. Only as he's aged (on DAYS and now here) have I found his work more interesting. I don't think he looks bad, but I don't want him to be paired with Laura. I don't even know who I would pair with Laura. The character is so inert and her pairings haven't interested me even when they had Stefan saying "Lasha" 500 times after she returned.
  18. I liked Jonathan when he was on AMC. I haven't cared very much about following him post-AMC (I think the most I saw of him was when I watched one of the baking shows he hosted), but I'm glad he's had a career. I'm not sure how I feel about GH having another actor who will come and go, if this is not a short-term part.
  19. You'd think they wouldn't want Laura with another man who spends so much time with prostitutes, but we never know...
  20. Fiona was on GL in three different roles. Her first was in 1984 or early 1985 as a student of Quint's.
  21. Near the end of this there's a profile on Danny Pintauro, mentioning that he was on ATWT at this time. https://americanarchive.org/catalog/cpb-aacip-259-c24qnh3x
  22. The last few minutes of this has the broadcaster talking about violence in television soaps and how the cozy domesticity of radio soaps are gone. He mentions a few soaps. He also mentions that any time Portia Faces Life tried to move away from courtroom stories, the ratings went down. (I assume he meant the radio version) WNYC[Radio broadcasting] | WNYC | New York Public Radio, Podc...This episode is from the WNYC archives. It may contain language which is no longer politically or socially appropriate. "A batch of assorted notes about broadcasting, mostly." Gilbert Seldes mentions
  23. New Jersey Nightly News; A Closer Look: Soap Opera - American Archive of Public Broadcasting Part of this 1981 broadcast has a number of AMC clips from the time, and an interview with William Mooney. A local newsman and a cameraman both say they are big AMC fans (the cameraman smirks as he's been a fan for much longer than the newsman).
  24. Could be this, although maybe not. Freedom Road - Wikipedia
  25. Maybe it's in better quality, I don't know, but I've just come to assume none of the episodes will be material not already around.
