  1. If you have the predilection for silent films, I watched J'accuse (1919) for the first time last night. This film is a beautiful, harrowing, and tragic tale of a romantic love triangle amidst the backdrop of World War I. Directed by Abel Gance, though the film comes in at 2h 45m, it never feels like a slog, but a genuine, yet thorough and emotional journey. The film goes to dark places, places you don't expect it to, and certainly places Hollywood would have been wary of, but it's in that darkness that the truthfulness of the time and place shines through. A highly recommended film by me, for whatever that's worth.
  2. The oldest living person in the world, Maria Branyas from Spain, passed away August 19, 2024 at the age of 117 (and 168 days). Her date of birth was March 4, 1907 and she became the oldest living on January 17, 2023. The last of those born in 1907, the new oldest living person is Tomiko Itooka from Japan, whose date of birth is May 23 1908, making her 116 years old. She remains one of two people born in 1908.
  3. You shouldn't.
  4. I meant recasts in general, which would have been easy to ascertain if you took a second to do some reading comprehension.
  5. Cady McClain in general is the better actress, but Melissa Reeves is the only Jennifer Horton Deveraux for me, always and forever. Hopefully with RC gone, recasts won't be as prominent.
  6. Also interesting is that Sam is the only character to not have their race mentioned. His age isn't either so it'll be interesting to see where he'll fit in.
  7. Also host (with Barbara Walters) of the 1st Daytime Emmy Awards!
  8. Just from that promo, I like what I see from Serena Scott Thomas. I'd think I'd like her a lot if I could actually stomach watching.
  9. How peculiar that both Neighbours and Home and Away released promos surrounding one of their characters dying, except with H&A it'll 100% be a main character.
  10. With Arianne Zucker's exit, here are the 10 actors who have been consecutively on contract the longest: Josh Taylor 2004- James Reynolds 2004- Suzanne Rogers 2004- Eric Martsolf 2008- Deidre Hall 2011- Mary Beth Evans 2015- Drake Hogestyn 2017- Paul Telfer 2019- Billy Flynn 2019- Stephen Nichols 2019-
  11. I have so many questions ... what a mad-lib of a tweet!
  12. Al Calderon's Tiktok came on my FYP today (he's hot as hell btw) and I scrolled to this video that may be a potential spoiler. I can't know for sure if he's talking about filming DAYS, though.
  13. He's been a Head-Writer consistently for over 15 years, the best thing he could for his creativity is take a break.
  14. Farewell My Concubine (1993) - The first and only Chinese language film to win at Cannes! The first quarter is seeped in child abuse, but somehow the film engages you to keep watching past it all by latching on to the main characters' journey of getting lost in the character he's being poised to play for his entire life. A movie that transgresses through decades, the great, yet tragic as I would grow to learn after watching, Leslie Cheung portrays Douzi/Cheng Dieyi, whose emotional rawness hooks you and breaks your heart. Gong Li as his pseudo romantic rival is fantastic as an ex-prostitute who knows Douzi is a threat to her marriage. Friendship is the strength of this movie, and betrayal the dramatic explosion that makes this film fascinating and painful.
  15. Legally, they had no choice. Corday fired writers after a strike before and paid the price. Of course, I don't know if he could have gone earlier than he is, but at least he's finally gone all the same.
  16. Ah, I was actually watching then and remember Faith killing her grandmother. Didn't remember her character's name. Thanks for the information.
  17. I must ask, who the hell is Catherine Flynn?
  18. The newest love of my life: Dodi El Circy, 28 years old
  19. I've always envisioned Jason Tam as Sandy and Tony's child, personally.
  20. Why was Carly wearing that? It seems like a really out of character choice.
  21. Well there was Ed on OLTL starting in the early 70s, so I guess he was an outlier.
  22. Quoting myself to say, I just finished it and the final scene ever (won't spoil it) was actually kind of perfect and unexpected.
  23. I'm halfway through and I think I can say this is the most balls to the wall, fucked up, slutty season yet. I'm going to miss this crazy f*cking show!
  24. Binging Elite's final season!
