  1. The Gossip today makes me wonder if this is where we have to worry about Leslie... Leslie: So I would much rather hear about the tea from those rich folks behind the gates. So who is going to spill? Hmmm? Mona: Well, I guess the big news is what happened at the country club restaurant. Jan: Oh. Fairmont Crest is buzzing. My phone totally blew up. Mona: Mine, too. Leslie: Okay, what happened? Mona: Ooh. Dani almost put Hayley on the floor. Leslie: What? Jan: Mm-hmm. Mona: From what I heard, if it hadn't been for a barstool or a table breaking her fall, Hayley would have seen ass over teakettle. Leslie: Dani pushed her? (Jan laughing) Jan: Punched her in the face. Leslie: Get out. Mona: No, it's true. In front of a whole house. Leslie: Now, that is delicious. Jan: Mm. Leslie: And good for Dani. You know, you can't home-wreck a woman and expect her not to react. Jan: Mm. Vanessa said she wasn't surprised. She went to Dani's this morning for coffee and found Dani throwing mugs against the wall. Mona: Girl. - Ooh (Laughing) Leslie: Anything to add? Jan: Hmm. Mona: Not really. Everything runs smoothly at Nicole and Ted's. Nothing but love. Jan: Aw. Leslie: Must be wonderful being Nicole Dupree Richardson. I wonder what it's like. Hmm. Talk about a woman who has everything. Mona: Nicole deserves all the blessings. She's an amazing, inspirational person. It's no wonder Ted adores her. Nicole and Vanessa are friends, just like Dani and Vanessa are friends. That said, Nicole and Vanessa haven't kept up with each other much like Dani and Vanessa have. Being the town gossip means you're mostly friends with everyone.
  2. The show has an initial full season order with taping currently set to continue through at least August. That can change should the network decide to pick up the series, or go the ABC route without making any formal announcements since the show is network owned.
  3. To follow up, this means that GH competes with BTG in all other markets not mentioned above with both shows airing at 2:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. PT.
  4. As I reported long ago, seven of the eight ABC Owned television stations returned “General Hospital” back to its 3:00 PM ET/2:00 PM PT slot beginning Monday, September 8, 2014. Those stations include WABC in New York, KABC in Los Angeles, WLS in Chicago, WPVI in Philadelphia, KGO in San Francisco, KTRK in Houston, WTVD in Raleigh-Durham and KSAT in San Antonio, which is the sole non-ABC Owned station that made the change. https://www.soapoperanetwork.com/2014/08/gh-time-slot-switch-7-abc-owned-operated-stations-returning-soap-original-time

  6. Ratings for this week's shows will be announced next week, unless CBS releases something about its first episode sometime today which is unlikely. As for how the special performed which will give you a barometer for the main show, here yu go: https://www.soapoperanetwork.com/2025/02/daytime-broadcast-ratings-for-the-week-of-february-17-21-2025
  7. During the week of February 17-21, 2025, CBS aired “Beyond the Gates: Welcome to the Neighborhood,” a five-day, five-part half-hour daytime special produced by the team at “Entertainment Tonight” and hosted by Kevin Frazier and Sheryl Underwood. The special previewed what’s to come on the daytime soap opera, “Beyond the Gates,” which is the first new soap opera scheduled to air on the network’s daytime lineup in nearly 40 years (since “The Bold and the Beautiful” in 1987), the first new daily drama series to air on broadcast television in more than 25 years (since NBC’s “Passions” in 1999) and the first-ever one-hour Black-centric daytime drama series. The soap opera premiered Monday, February 24 on CBS, with its first three episodes now streaming on Paramount+, CBS.com and the CBS App. According to figures released by Nielsen, the special did well for the network, beating “GMA3: What You Need to Know,” “NBC News Daily” and encore broadcasts of “The Bold and the Beautiful” in both Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 rating. The special was also close to tying “General Hospital” and topped the year ago performance of “The Talk” in the key sales demographics. http://www.soapoperanetwork.com/media/2025/02/Beyond-The-Gates-Welcome-To-The-Neighborhood-1024x576.jpg“Beyond the Gates: Welcome to the Neighborhood CBS For the week, “Beyond the Gates: Welcome to the Neighborhood” averaged a 0.19 rating among Women 18-49 and a 0.30 rating among Women 25-54. Meanwhile, “General Hospital” pulled a 0.21 rating among Women 18-49, flat with its year ago performance, and a 0.32 rating among Women 25-54, even with last week. While Total Viewers were not available for all shows at press time, we hear “General Hospital” averaged 2.048 million viewers for the week, up +116,000 viewers compared to its performance one week earlier (2.048 million vs. 1.932 million). This marks an end to a trend that began early last year when the show averaged less than two million viewers week after week throughout 2024. Compared to its performance during the same week last year, “General Hospital” was down a mere -4,000 viewers (2.048 million vs. 2.052 million). As for the veteran CBS soaps, “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” were each up by the same amount week-to-week in both Women 18-49 (+0.03) and Women 25-54 (+0.08). With its 0.54 rating among Women 18-49, “The Young and the Restless” saw the biggest year-to-year gain among Women 25-54 rating (+0.07) compared to all other daytime broadcast shows, while “The Bold and the Beautiful” tied for the second biggest year-to-year gain (+0.04) in the demo. After surging in both categories last week, “GMA3: What You Need to Know” fell to its normal averages, ranking last for the week with “NBC News Daily” outperforming its competitor among the network news programs. Wrap-Up What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of February 17-21, 2025 among Women 18-49 rating and Women 25-54 rating, including their performance during the comparable week last year. A closer look at how the daytime soaps performed, specifically their daily performance breakdown in the demos, will be posted shortly. Note: Only figures available to Soap Opera Network at press time are published below. Total Viewers for daytime have been unavailable to us since late September 2024. That said, it is unclear if “General Hospital” averaged more than two million between that time and the week of February 17-21, 2025. The year ago performance for encores of “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “Beyond the Gates: Welcome to the Neighborhood” is compared to the performance of “The Talk” during the week of February 19-23, 2024. Additionally, the week ago performances are compared to encores of “The Price is Right” which aired during the week of February 10-14, 2025, and whose demo performance was not released by Nielsen. 8. No, no. She is playing Mona Wilson, even her IMDb says so. I'm just saying that she looks different on the show than she does in her official photos. You didn't make a mistake.
  9. Mona Wilson is played by Karan Kendrick, but I couldn't tell because she looked different on the show compared to her official photos, or am I conflating two actresses with each other? I did that earlier with Bessie, thinking people were talking about Mona.
  10. Now that the series has made its long-awaited debut, its Win a Walk-On Role Contest has officially begun with producers of “Beyond the Gates” inviting eligible students from participating Georgia-based HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) to enter for a chance to appear on the soap opera. Launched on Monday, February 24 at 2:00 p.m. ET (premiere date and time for “Beyond the Gates”), and running through Friday, March 21 at 11:59 p.m. ET, eligible Georgia HBCU students can visit the official contest website to answer a brief quiz about the show and submit a video of themselves talking about what they enjoyed about the show and what it would mean to them to win a walk-on role. Acting experience and training is not required. “In addition to launching a groundbreaking series, we, and CBS, wanted to offer an aspirational experience for a young adult interested in exploring all things TV,” said Sheila Ducksworth, president of the CBS Studios/NAACP Venture, in a statement earlier this month announcing the contest alongside Derrick Johnson, president and CEO of the NAACP. Ducksworth and Johhnson are also executive producers at “Beyond the Gates.” “We also wanted to pay homage to HBCUs — which have been a guiding force for students, families and communities for almost 200 years — and also thank Georgia for availing so many resources to us for the creation of ‘Beyond the Gates,’” continued Ducksworth. “We hope that we may pique interest in young people who may have dreams that lie either in front of or behind the camera, and we’re excited to review all of the submissions from outstanding HBCU students of Georgia, regardless of major, and have our winner spend a day with us on set.” The current quiz questions are as follows: What family is Beyond the Gates centered around? What fictional community is Beyond the Gates based in? Who are Anita Dupree’s daughters? Who was Hayley friends with prior to a terrible falling out? What happens at the end of Episode 1? In addition to providing the right answers to the provided questions, submitters will be asked for their first, middle and last name, as well as their date of birth, school email address (must be a valid .edu address), college major, photo number and gender, with the option of sharing social media channels and clubs/organizations they are connected to. The shows’ executive producers will select a winner, who will have the chance to appear in an episode of the show in the 2025 season. In addition to the potential walk-on experience, the winner will also enjoy a full “Day in the Life” behind-the-scenes experience with the cast and crew as well as a one-on-one conversation with one of the show’s executive producers. Submissions must accept the official contest rules and the terms and conditions, plus must agree to the Paramount privacy policy, and their terms of use, and acknowledge any submitted content can be used for marking purposes and on any social media channels by CBS/Paramount Global. 11. The Dupree family house reminds me of Viki's mansion on One Life to Live, but a more modern version with the direction of the stairs to the front door and the foyer.
  12. The 2025 Emmys (October 2025) cover the calendar year 2024. Meanwhile, the 2026 Emmys will cover the calendar year 2025, which means Beyond the Gates will be eligible in all categories.
  13. Only the first five. They gave the press screeners. I'm happy because it helped with writing articles and pairing characters with actors while also trying to be as careful as possible (and failing) to discuss what has happened with you all without revealing what has yet to happen.
  14. Without saying anything, you'll have your answer later this week.
  15. This exchange between Vernon and Martin, where they kept referencing "Restless" in the dialogue had me chuckling, even if not intended:
  16. Episode #2 is now up on Paramount+: https://www.paramountplus.com/shows/video/l0JBtqynTNhpyPcyesNfPHYdAc13JTel/ It's also up on CBS.com: https://www.cbs.com/shows/video/l0JBtqynTNhpyPcyesNfPHYdAc13JTel/
  17. Girl, does it matter? It's called screen presence. LOL. Seriously though, for the brief time he was on screen, I think he sounded/looked good and impressive. Hope he comes back either as a recast Derek or his "hot guy" character gets fleshed out later on. ---- Wait, am I spoiling something? Did this not air today? Sorry!
  18. Agreed! and I said I liked them in suits:
  19. BTW, hot guy I think should have played Derek instead is named Max Bickelhaup.
  20. Mike Manning is 37, turning 38 this year.
  21. I love that this is the same day even though it's episode two and we're on outfit number three for Dani -- I'm including the undergarments she wore before changing into the blue suit.
  22. Totally understand but let's keep in mind he is married to a Black man and has Black children, or mixed race depending on where they are going with the story, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's where "Smitty" is primarily used/referenced. We'll see how he's referred when he interacts with non-Dupree-related individuals like people from work. Yes, she is. When I saw her she kinda reminded me of Tamara Clatterbuck from The Youn and the Restless in terms of looks. Glad you saw what I saw. I like suits and glasses. That is all.
  23. Smitty's official name is Bradley “Smitty” Smith, with "Smitty" being a derivative of his last name.
