  1. The max connections issue has been happening due to a larger frequency of visits to the message boards, particularly by bots. Despite blocking them in Cloudflare, a large amount of traffic is still being tracked by Google Analytics from places like Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, etc. Regardless, the issue is being fully resolved: I've increased the max_connections to 500 (default was 150). However, to maintain the stability of the MySQL database that holds information about the SON Community, we need to use a caching service such as Redis. After my last response, I tried turning the setting on, but it failed because the required port number had not yet been enabled by our hosting company. Once enabled, hopefully it will finally, finally, finally resolve the 500 error and, with it, the login/logout issue, which I believe started occurring due to a misconfigured setting in our Data Storage Method (MySQL database vs. file system vs. Redis). Long-winded response. Hopefully, with actual solutions forthcoming.
  2. My apologies. In my ongoing effort to find solutions to the issues we've been discussing, I inadvertently enabled a Cloudflare setting, which blocked YouTube from connecting to the site. I turned that setting off, which is why it's working now.
  3. Found the problem. Implemented the solution. Shouldn't happen again.

  9. Marking a return to U.S. soaps after nearly 30 years, veteran actor Maxwell Caulfield (“The Colbys,” “Dynasty”) will make a one-episode appearance on ABC’s “General Hospital,” playing a “shady new character.” According to TV Insider, Caulfield portrays Apollo, a New York City gallery owner, in the Friday, May 29 episode of the daytime drama series, where he’ll interact with Ava Jerome (Maura West) and Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), who are seeking information about Delilah, the mother of baby Phoebe, whom has become an important figure in the lives of Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) and her husband, Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) as they seek to adopt the infant. In an interview with the outlet, Caulfield shared that the opportunity to join the soap came just as he was preparing to board a flight to the U.K. with his wife, Juliet Mills (Tabitha Lenox, “Passions”), and their daughter, Melissa, to celebrate the landmark birthday for Juliet’s sister, Hayley Mills (“The Parent Trap”). “She had a big landmark birthday in London, and that was the day that they needed me over there at Prospect [Studios],” he shared. “You probably hear actors tell you all the time, but it’s a rule of thumb: If you want to get a job, book yourself a holiday and the phone will ring telling you to call it off. Juliet ended up going with our daughter, and I changed my ticket and stayed behind.” It was the show’s casting director, Mark Teschner, who reached out to Caulfield, with the actor noting, “Mark Teschner, the brilliant casting director over there, has been working for a while to get a role for me on the show. In this instance, it’s just a one-off, but I was happy to take it.” Though the role is currently set as a one-off, as he said to the outlet, Caulfield welcomes the chance to return, saying, “I got great treatment over there.” He added, “I certainly felt a lot of love and respect. It was a lovely affirmation from Frank [Valentini, executive producer] and the guys over at ABC. I had just a little taste of what it’s like to be on ‘GH,’ and it was very gratifying.” “The true story is- I was in the makeup chair and saw Ava, Alexis, and some guy I didn’t know doing a scene on the monitor, commented “General Hospital” star Chris L. McKenna (John Brennan) in a post on X (formerly Twitter), which included a photo of himself posing with Caulfield. “I heard the guy say one line and I stopped, turned around, curious, (because it was clear that was an experienced actor from just a few words) and said ‘Who’s playing the maitre’d? He’s a good actor.’ Some one said, ‘You ever see Empire Records?’ And I jumped out of my chair- ‘That’s Maxwell Caulfield?!’ And I ran to go meet him.” “I was so excited I nearly assaulted him and then texted this to all my high school friends,” he shared, referring to the photo. I was so excited I nearly assaulted him and then texted this to all my high school friends. @maxcaulfield #CoolRider #Grease2 #EmpireRecords #RexManningDay #GH pic.twitter.com/IxiCVXCnmL — Chris L. McKenna (@ChrisLMcKenna) May 28, 2026 In a follow-up post, McKenna said, “Um, he’s talking about me and I am BLUSHING…,” in response to a comment made by Caulfield in his TV Insider interview, in which he talked about meeting one of the show’s current cast members, later revealed to be McKenna. “I passed one of the handsomest guys on the show in the corridor. We didn’t exchange names, but I said, ‘Oh, well, there’s a certified soap hunk,’ — 6’3”, square jaw, the rest of it — and as I was leaving, he was one of the guys who insisted that we get photographed together,” Caulfield noted, adding, “He said, ‘Come on, Rex Manning. I gotta get a shot with Rex.’” Caulfield played the role of Rex Manning in the cult classic film “Empire Records,” which was released in 1995 and has seen fans celebrate April 8 each year, dubbing it “Rex Manning Day.” Caulfield first made a name for himself as an actor in 1980, when he landed a small role on the soap opera “Ryan’s Hope.” He later starred in “Grease 2,” a sequel to the smash-hit film starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. Caulfield played Michael opposite Michelle Pfeiffer, who played Stephanie, the Danny-and-Sandy-type character. By 1985, Caulfield had become a household name, portraying Miles Colby on the primetime soap “Dynasty” and its spinoff, “The Colbys,” the latter of which featured the likes of Charlton Heston (“The Ten Commandments,” “Ben-Hur”), John James (Tom Bergman, “Search for Tomorrow”), Katharine Ross, Emma Samms (Holly Sutton, “General Hospital”), Ricardo Montalban (“Fantasy Island”), Stephanie Beacham, Tracy Scoggins and Claire Yarlett, among others. Following the cancellation of “The Colbys” in 1987, Caulfield landed several feature film and TV roles, including a role on “All My Children,” where he portrayed Pierce Riley from 1996-1997. “I got to meet the creator of the show, Miss [Agnes] Nixon herself, at Tavern on the Green in New York City,” recalled the actor to TV Insider of the experience. “And that was like meeting The Godmother. But it was a slightly jinxed role insofar as I was the third guy to step in and play this part, and they made a very odd decision, which was to go back and tell the Pierce Riley story all over again.” Michael Nader Though his casting was challenging at the time, considering he was the third actor to take on the character by that point, Caulfield says, “I enjoyed particularly seeing Mike Nader [who played Dimitri Marick on ‘All My Children’ and Dex Dexter on ‘Dynasty’] over there. Not that I had any scenes with him, but watching Mike in action was something else.” With numerous other credits under his belt, Caulfield has most recently appeared in the Paramount+ original series “Landman” and the soap opera “The Bay,” which was created and executive produced by Gregori Martin. The actor also appeared in several British soaps over the years, playing Jim Brodie from 2003-2004 on both “Casualty” and “Holby City,” and playing Mark Wylde on “Emmerdale” from 2009-2010. 10. Beginning with the show’s Thursday, May 28 episode, actress Denise Richards reprises her recurring role as Shauna Fulton on “The Bold and the Beautiful.” Richards first joined the series in 2019, during which Shauna’s storylines included her close bond with her daughter, Flo (played by Katrina Bowden), as well as her romance with Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye), a relationship that later soured, prompting Shauna to return to her native Las Vegas and marking the last time audiences saw Richards on the soap opera. In an interview with PEOPLE, Richards discussed returning to the show and other projects she has in the works, touting a “whole new chapter” in her career. “It’s nice to be back,” said Richards to the outlet. “It feels like I never left. It’s such a great family environment, and I love my character. She likes to cause a little trouble.” In a preview, Richards, as Shauna, is seen entering Bill Spencer’s (Don Diamont) office at Spencer Publications, where she greets the powerhouse executive and his son, Wyatt (Darin Brooks). Darin Brooks “The Spencer men are so handsome — especially you, Bill,” Shauna tells a displeased and shocked Bill. “Congratulations, by the way, I heard about [your company], Logan. You are a real player in the fashion world now.” “I mean, too bad things didn’t work out with Eric Forrester,” continues Shauna. “Katie [Heather Tom] must be on the hunt for a new designer. Remember, Bill, I ran some very high-end boutiques in Vegas, and it just so happens I’m available now. I can just imagine getting in on the ground floor of the newest game in town. Wouldn’t that be something?” Talking about bringing her character back to the Los Angeles-based set series, Richards explains that while it “can be very intimidating going into a set where people have worked together for so long,” that isn’t the case with “The Bold and the Beautiful.” “Everyone’s just very embracing and very supportive,” Richards told PEOPLE. “The actors I was working with made it so much easier to step back in.” Richards’ return comes just as Brooks is also back at the show, something she welcomed. “I loved that Darin was returning, too,” the actress said. “I like that with Wyatt and Shauna, our characters, we’re light and fun, so we’ll see where we go. A lot of times we have no idea what’s going to happen, too, which is so fun getting the scripts every Friday.” Before making her soap opera debut on the long-running half-hour series, Richards was once up for a role on “General Hospital,” though she didn’t get the part as it went to someone else. “I tested years ago when I first started acting for ‘General Hospital’ and didn’t get it,” recalled Richards. “I’d had friends on soap operas and always thought it was such a great experience, no matter what level you are at in your career.” As for joining “The Bold and the Beautiful,” the former reality TV star (“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”) remembered that before her initial run, she was “terrified,” but “knew I had to do it.” Richards went on to tell PEOPLE about the number of pages soap actors run through each day, which led to “a little bit of a panic moment,” though she credits former co-star Rena Sofer (ex-Quinn Fuller) for getting her through it after receiving a call from Sofer with words of advice. “She said, ‘I know it’s overwhelming. Don’t think of it as you have all of these pages, think of it as one scene at a time,'” recalled Richards of the conversation. “And so I did, and somehow I was able to memorize all the pages.” Today, Richards speaks highly of the soap world, going so far as to tell “every actor [she encounters] they should do a soap at one point or another in their career, especially if they are starting out.” “I love being on set and working with all different people,” Richards says of her latest run at “The Bold and the Beautiful,” and as a working actor, which allows her time to work on other projects, some of which will be announced in the near future. “I’ve always just had such a passion for it and glad I’m still working. This is just a whole new chapter for me in general.” Note: The post Denise Richards Back To ‘The Bold And The Beautiful’ As Shauna Fulton first appeared on Soap Opera Network. Read More
  11. Casting appears to be for known "reality TV stars," so it can't be any worse than what led them into the genre in the first place.
  12. Bell-Phillip Television Productions, the production company behind the world’s most-watched daily serial, “The Bold and the Beautiful,” is developing a new reality competition series in which contestants compete to win a recurring role on the half-hour soap opera. According to Variety, which first reported the news, the company has partnered with Jeff Jenkins Productions, headed by “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” executive producer Jeff Jenkins, on “The Bold and the Unscripted” (working title), one of many projects Jenkins has in active development for his nearly eight-year-old company. Brad Bell “‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ has been doing what they do for 40 years; they just launched their app, with 3,900 episodes available to watch. So we’ve partnered with [executive producer and head writer] Brad Bell on this format that we’re taking out,” said Jenkins in an interview with the outlet,” Jenkins said, “I think it’s going to be such a fun show, very unexpected. I’ve never seen anything like it. And frankly, that’s also what gets me out of bed, taking buyers’ opportunities that they haven’t heard before. I don’t want to bring you the 300th version of ‘Real Housewives.'” According to a logline: “Jeff Jenkins Productions has partnered with Bell-Phillip Television Productions, producer of legendary soap opera ‘The Bold and the Beautiful,’ to develop a new reality-competition format, anchored to the long-running series. ‘The Bold and the Unscripted’ (wt) will bring together a group of reality TV stars, all with thespian aspirations, on the iconic soap opera’s actual studio lot and soundstages to compete for weekly opportunities to secure speaking roles and guest spots on ‘The Bold and the Beautiful.’” No additional details on the series were announced at press time. The project marks the first time in more than two decades that a daytime drama series has gone with a reality TV-based approach to casting a role. Cameron Mathison From 2004-2007, the defunct cable network SOAPnet aired four seasons of “I Wanna Be a Soap Star,” a reality competition series hosted by veteran soap star Cameron Mathison (“General Hospital,” “All My Children”). That series saw contestants initially competing to win a recurring role on “General Hospital” during its first season, with follow-up seasons promising a contract role on the likes of “All My Children” (Season 2), “One Life to Live” (Season 3), and finally “Days of our Lives” (Season 4). Judges included soap stars Debbi Morgan (“All My Children”) and Mary Beth Evans (“Days of our Lives”), casting directors Mark Teschner (“General Hospital”) and Judy Blye Wilson (“All My Children”), plus the late head writer of “As The World Turns” and “Days of our Lives,” Hogan Sheffer, and mega soap manager Michael Bruno, though not all of them appeared together during the same season. As for Jenkins, who was previously an executive producer on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” he is also working on a new reality series that will star Tori Spelling (“Beverly Hills, 90210”) and her brother, Randy (“Sunset Beach”), witht he working title “Reunited: Tory & Randy Spelling,” that reunites the estranged siblings as they go on a cross-country road trip in an attempt to recapture their family bond. The logline reads as follows: “Reunited: Tori & Randy Spelling”: “Jeff Jenkins Productions has partnered with actress Tori Spelling and her brother, actor-turned-life coach Randy Spelling, for a new series that will reunite the siblings. “Reunited: Tori & Randy Spelling” (wt) brings Tori and Randy back together to mend their fractured relationship via an epic cross-country road trip. Throughout their trek, they’ll participate in various once-in-a-lifetime experiences that will test their self-imposed boundaries, all in an effort to accelerate personal growth and reestablish their sibling bond.” Another unscripted series Jenkins has in development will star and be produced by Cedric the Entertainer (“The Neighborhood”), part of a first-look deal with producer Shondrella Avery and her Glass Slipper Pictures. Jeff Jenkins Productions and Glass Slipper Pictures most recently worked together on “Tiffany Haddish Goes Off,” starring Tiffany Haddish (“Girls Trip”), which was released on Peacock last November. 14. No worries. Just wanted to make sure we were on the same page.
  15. Just to be clear, by username, you mean your email address, correct?
  16. I've been working on our Cloudflare settings for about a week now, and I've found that settings that work on the main site don't work on the subdomain, so blanket settings needed to be coded for one and not the other, and vice versa. With that said, I've made some tweaks in the last few minutes, as I believe the login/logout issue is due to the SON Community caching itself for speed, which would explain why, when some users attempt to log in, nothing seems to happen. Thank you for the screenshots; they gave me something to look at in terms of what to look for.
  17. That is what has been so interesting about this login/logout issue. A. Not every member is impacted. B. It works properly with Edge for some, but not Chrome. C. It works properly with Chrome for some, but not Edge. Again, like I said to @ranger1rg , provide a screenshot if you're getting this error, which will allow me to send something back to our hosting company.
  18. Dear Members, Due to non-use, I have decided to retire the Blogs and Galleries add-ons to the SON Community. If you have previously used these features in the past and want to copy any content you might not already have access to, feel free to do so now. I will be removing the add-ons beginning Monday, June 1. For all those who contributed, thank you for sharing your thoughts and ideas with us. - Errol
  19. I should add that the browser version would also be helpful, as older browsers, even ones last updated in the past six months, can be considered outdated. By versions, I mean information like "Version 148.0.7778.169 (Official Build) (arm64)," not just Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Each has a version and must be updated regularly to address security exploits and to access other advanced features and capabilities.
  20. You should clear your cache and cookies for Google Chrome if it was causing the aforementioned issues before my post above. If you have done that and this issue persists, please send screengrabs of what you're seeing to [email protected], or share them here if you prefer.
  21. Ryan Quan is reportedly returning to "Days of our Lives" as co-head writer of the long-running Peacock-exclusive series. According to Daytime Confidential, which is reporting the news as a rumor, though has cited multiple sources as confirming Quan's hiring to the outlet, the veteran writer is said to be replacing outgoing co-head writer Paula Cwikly, who has reportedly decided to retire after returning to the soap opera in July 2024 to work alongside Jeanne Marie Ford, following Ron Carlivati's departure as head writer. The pair's material began appearing on-screen with episodes aired in April 2025. Reached for comment, a rep for the show told the outlet, "No comment." If the rumor proves true, material written by Quan would not appear on-screen for some time as the series is at least one year ahead in terms of writing and tapes episodes ten months before their release on Peacock. A graduate of the University of Los Angeles (UCLA), Quan had previously been a part of the writing team at "Days of our Lives," starting as a writer's assistant in April 2007, the same position he held from 1999-2005 at "Passions," before working his way up, holding several other positions at the soap throughout his tenure, including dialogue writer, breakdown writer, and, was credited as the show's co-head writer from September 2016 to July 2017, working alongside Dena Higley, following the exit of Josh Griffith (current head writer at "The Young and the Restless"). With Carlivati taking over from Quan and Higley as head writer with episodes that began airing on July 19, 2017, Quan moved into the role of story consultant on the show, a position he held until he left to join the writing team at "General Hospital," led by head writers Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten. He began his run at the ABC soap as a breakdown writer, starting with an episode that aired in March 2025. Throughout his writing career, Quan has won two Emmy Awards as a member of the “Days of our Lives” writing team, receiving his first recognition in 2012. He also won in 2018. The Los Angeles native received his first Writers Guild Award in 2014 for his work on "Days of our Lives" in 2013, led by then-co-head writer Christopher Whitesell. He received subsequent award wins in 2021, for calendar year 2020, 2022 (for 2021), 2023 (for 2022) and 2024 (for 2023). 22. “Haven Falls,” the new audio drama series created and executive produced by Casey S. Hutchison (“Forever and a Day”), has announced the recasting of a pivotal character with soap alum Jeff Branson (“The Young and the Restless,” “All My Children”). Though the show isn’t set to premiere until Thursday, June 25, 2026, Branson will replace actor Nick Kretz as Lucas Hale, the son of businessman Victor Hale, the ruthless, unforgettable patriarch whose influence reaches into every corner of the fictional Haven Falls. Episodes featuring Branson begin airing in July. With Branson joining the cast, the actor reunites with his former “Guiding Light” co-star Frank Dicopoulos, who plays the elder Hale. On the long-running CBS soap opera, which concluded in 2009 after 57 years on TV and 72 years overall, combining TV and radio. Branson portrayed Shayne Lewis, while Dicopoulos appeared as Frank Cooper on the soap opera. In 2009, Branson netted his first Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Daytime Drama Series for his work on “Guiding Light.” He also received nominations in the same category for every soap opera he has appeared in, including a 2005 nomination for his role as Jonathan Lavery on “All My Children” and a 2013 nomination for his portrayal of Ronan Malloy on “The Young and the Restless.” Set in a fictional Midwestern town where everyone has a secret, and loyalty is always up for sale, “Haven Falls” follows two warring families locked in a relentless battle for control, legacy, and survival. As the story unfolds, buried sins resurface, and alliances fracture, love becomes dangerous, truth becomes weaponized, and no one escapes unscathed. Blending the tradition of classic daytime drama with the freedom and intimacy of audio storytelling, listeners will be introduced to the town of Haven Falls, where love is leverage, families battle against enemies, and no secret stays buried for long. “This is soap opera in its purest form,” said Hutchison, announcing the series in March. “Big emotions. Moral gray areas. And consequences from actions that will ripple for generations.” Joining Dicopoulos and Branson as series regulars are fan-favorite performers from “Forever and a Day,” including Elizabeth von Isser, Kristina Sullivan, Benjamin Bryant, BJ Van Griffin, Candice Mack and Ashley Stewart, among others. Additional casting and storyline information are expected to be announced in the days and weeks leading up to the show’s premiere. Additionally, veteran podcast producer, actor and writer Galen Roberts (“Forever and a Day,” “Heritage”) has signed on as associate producer. Distributed by Spotify for Creators, the 15-episode series will see weekly episode drops across all major podcast platforms, with full episodes available on the show’s official YouTube channel. 24. Following our exclusive report that Kate Mansi had finished taping at “General Hospital” as Kristina Corinthos-Davis, and would be making her final on-screen appearance at an undisclosed date, a new interview with the actress, published Sunday by former Soap Opera Digest Editorial Director Stephanie Sloane as part of her SoapSteph’s Soap Dish newsletter, Mansi details her reasons for leaving the daytime drama series after just three years, including projects she’s currently seeking and how a shift in her personal life also played a role in her decision. “I’ve made the very difficult decision to leave ‘General Hospital,’” said Mansi to Sloane. “I have a few new projects that require my full attention and with my husband [Matt McInnis] currently producing a series filming primarily abroad, I needed the flexibility to travel while continuing to develop and work in Los Angeles.” Mansi’s husband is a co-executive producer of the upcoming “Tomb Raider” series for Prime Video, starring Sophie Turner (“Game of Thrones”). Meanwhile, Mansi finished taping at “General Hospital” in April and will make her last on-air appearance in June. “I’m incredibly grateful to Frank [Valentini, executive producer], ABC, and our writers for the care they gave Kristina,” she continued. “It’s been such a meaningful and unforgettable ride. I’ve loved being a fiery Corinthos-Davis girl in such a phenomenal family.” In a statement, Valentini said, “We love Kate and support her decision to leave. The door is always open, and we appreciate all that she added to the show these past three years.” Since joining the soap in 2023, Mansi has taken the character full circle, with Kristina further exploring a same-sex romantic relationship with Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez), opening an LGBTQ+ center in Port Charles, and dealing with the aftermath of loss after the character falling several stories into the Metro Court pool which resulted in the death of the baby she was carrying for her sister, Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos), and Molly’s spuse TJ Ashford. In recent months, Mansi had the opportunity to work behind the scenes as a director on the series. “I was always really interested in directing. Our directors here are so incredible, and Frank was kind enough to let me shadow our directors here for quite some time and learn how they do it and the formula and the technique,” said Mansi of the experience in a behind-the-scenes video shared across the show’s social media channels. 25. On the third anniversary of making her on-screen debut as Kristina Corinthos-Davis on ABC’s “General Hospital,” Soap Opera Network has learned exclusively that actress Kate Mansi has exited the daytime drama series. According to sources, Mansi opted not to renew her contract with the soap opera and has already finished taping at the show’s Prospect Studios-based set in Hollywood. At press time, a final air date for Mansi was unknown, and details were unavailable on whether the show plans to recast the role. Prior to joining “General Hospital,” Mansi was best known to soap fans for her portrayal of Abigail Deveraux DiMera on “Days of our Lives,” a role that earned her an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Daytime Drama Series. Earlier this month, Mansi celebrated the premiere of her latest film, “Casa Grande,” a continuation of the 2023 limited series with the same, which hit theaters on May 1, and also stars Lou Diamond Phillips, Christina Moore (“Jessie”), Madison Lawlor and Lauren Swickard, the real-life wife of Mansi’s now former “General Hospital” co-star, Josh Swickard (Harrison Chase), among others. “Had such an amazing time @napavalleystreamfest!” wrote Mansi on Instagram. “I realize that’s entirely because it’s a female founded festival so @fearonmay + @julianafolk infused it with the same warmth of an intimate dinner party all weekend long. Honored to have premiered ‘Casa Grande,’ and so happy to have met some incredible filmmakers I now call friends. See you next yr!” Before casting Mansi, the role of Kristina had been portrayed by Lexi Ainsworth, who made her last appearance on the show just weeks before Mansi’s debut. Ainsworth won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Daytime Drama Series for her portrayal of Kristina in 2017, the same year Mansi won for her role on “Days of our Lives.” In addition to Mansi and Ainsworth, Kristina was portrayed by Lindsey Morgan, who took over the role from Ainsworth in 2012 after the character was sent off to Yale University in October 2011. Overall, Ainsworth played the character from 2009-2011, and later from 2015-2023. Mansi’s most recent Instagram post highlights “lots of new,” showcasing a new look for the actress.
