It may happen before that. Y&R, Days, GL, and Passions are the only shows not falling. ATWT is being a little more consistent now but they are still in the middle of the pack. I can see Days beating B&B before Hogan takes over the way things are going since I am thinking B&B will be in the 2's relatively soon. I also think GL may beat an ABC soap, hopefully GH but probably OLTL.

It should be an interesting few weeks of numbers to say the least. The summer has been bad for pretty much all the shows but the five I mentioned above so we may see some surprises coming up IMO.

I think EVERYONE reading this should watch GL and TELL EVERYONE to watch GL and get the buzz going ALL OVER for GL and just for like two weeks BOOST GL's ratings enough to beat OLTL or AMC, and then tune out again.

Is anyone here a Nielsen family or is anyone you know? I wish there was a system to measure what people are really watching versus a small sample size. It may statistically significant but I still don't buy it. With today's technology, they should be able to tell what everyone is watching without doing a sample like this.

ICAM Roger! If I were head of daytime I would be fighting for a new way to tally these ratings and wouldnt stop until something changed. Its pitiful with today's technology that there isnt a better ratings system in place.

Happy that Y&R and GL have stayed consistant. ATWT should be higher cause it's really good. I think P&G should see ABCD slump and go in for the kill.

For starters, GL bring back Edmund so we can start the next Winslow clan...... Olivia/Ava/Edmund would be great. Bringing back Sebastian and Holly would give Reva a break. Bring the real Spauldings back (including Amanda and Vicky), Soras Kevin & Jason Marler, Soras Zack, Jude, & Clairissa. Add Danny, Michelle, Ed, Marah, & Shayne to the mix and GL will have enough characters and core familes to rejuvinate Springfield once again.

I know they have a budget to follow, but they need to at least give them enough to revamp the show. P&G and CBS needs to at least do that. New HeadWriter would be on the top of my list though then work down from there.

GL at 2.2 consistently? What's to keep OL from joining them? They've been pushing the same stories and the same agenda for months and the show's been dropping. Why would people start watching now?

This is good news for DAYS. An increasing focused approach on more traditional storytelling, combined with the return of Stephen and Mary Beth has done wonders. Let's hope this keeps up when Hogan takes over.

ABCD is totally in the shitter now. Serves them right.

One of the problems of ABC Daytime (in addition to subpar writing) is the promotion. A quick visit to the "General Hospital" site on ABC.com directs a user to get acquanted with the "teen scene" of the soap.

Those featured are Ben Hogestyn (Lucas), Julie Marie Berman (Lulu), Kirsten Storms (Maxie), Lindze Letherman (Georgia), Scott Clifton (Dillon) and Ignacio Serricchio (Diego). What's the problem with this web advertisement? These actors/characters are rarely ever featured. That is especially glaring since most soaps give their younger actors more face time during the summer months.

Sisters Maxie and Georgie rarely share any screen time, while Georgie and her ex-husband Dillon are seen together even more rarely. Lulu and Diego are also often MIA, while Lucas is lucky to been showcased once a month. It is ironic that ABC.com would advertise characters that are rarely ever utilized.

While these actors/characters may not deserve to be prominently featured, but they should be on screen if the network is going to promote them.

Personally, if a soap can afford to have numerous characters that can be absent for days, or in Lucas's case weeks, they don't serve a real purpose. With all the belt tightening occuring on soaps, perhaps moving these rarely used characters off the canvas is a more attractive alternative.

As much as I personally want McTravesty's AMC ratings to tank, I can't but be happy that all of ABCD is suffering.

It makes one wonder. Since Fronsie's put so much time and effort into synergy between the shows, branding them as one uniform ABCD entity, including sharing similar/exact and simultaneous themes amongst his soaps in an effort to bring in the ratings to ABCD that if his plan goes awry it could pull ALL ABCD soaps down simultaneously in the ratings.

Could his synergistic gimmickry for ratings gold turn into a ratings black hole for all three shows? Sorry 'bout the mixed metaphors, there. We know the similar writing styles the over-arching themes in stories (for my show, I've called it the GHification of AMC which is outside of McT's own special brand of twisted sickness) are already a Fronsie staple for all 3 soaps which is another contributing factor, imo.

Tankety-tank-tank. *insert ABCD HW here* and Fronise...Got. To. Go!

I'm a perfect example of this...

I haven't been able to watch OLTL since May and the only parts I catch are the 2 min. after AMC that my tape catches....and every episode this summer has started with Rex and Adriana on the beach and a stalker....everything I catch from the show is a repeat of what I see everyday. It's gross. That show needs a major overhaul!

I think it's been a campaign of Fronsie's since his arrival and the individual flavors of the shows have been diminished. I wouldn't go so far as saying they "have to share a common theme" but there are duplicated and copy cat themes (I think the Jonathan Lavery and Manny storyline were compared a lot). I think perhaps the darkness, the attitudes towards women (lots of violations flying around), a glaring lack of diversity, pushing criminals as heros, propping characters who've been annoited by the corporation at the expense of the overall show and cast, blah, blah, you've heard it all a thousand times before.

With Fronsie, the marketing drives the content, not the other way around. It's a short-sighted, short-term gain, long-term pain philosophy, imo because story and character MUST be the foundation of soaps. While I admire his work in trying to promote daytime and bring into the new milenneum how soaps are marketed and forward leaning in terms of alternative sources of revenue (SOAPnet, product placement, etc) he's going about all ass backwards.

I think he's astonishingly ignorant and retro about diversity issues. I know what he says about his focus group numbers but playing into people's ignorance and actively ignoring social responsiblity...bad idea for the good of the longterm brand, imo.

    • She was great on there. And Wings. And so many shows. I don't feel like we get those character actors as much now.
    • Cady did have a southern accent as Dixie in her first few years playing the character... but it started to minimize the longer she played the character (which tracks because my aunt had a heavy southern accent when married my uncle and years living in the north has softened it quite a bit). Her initial stint playing Rosanna was partly due to mirroring the previous actress and eventually developing her own take on the character. And the thing about her take as Kelly on Y & R was that she was too sedate when she first took over playing the role (she was supposed to play a woman that had recently lost her child.. and trying to keep things together) and then went OTT crazy and didn't play it well.    And I don't care to remember her attempt at playing Jennifer on Days. I think this Pamela character is the first time she's playing a character from the start and I think she's like a kid at a candy store.  She's having so much fun trying different things... and I hope eventually she decides to settle on a more consistent character for Pamela (perhaps her love of accents is a character trait based on something traumatic that happened to her in the past maybe).
    • That's sad. I remember her mostly from ER and the shortlived, yet very funny, sitcom The Powers That Be.
    • As always loved seeing Ric with Liz. I hope the show forever keeps them in each others orbit even if it’s just platonic. I’m sure she’s going to cut him out when she finds out he’s blackmailing Alexis though. So darn.
    • I have to be honest I’m really struggling with this show. I love everything with Eva/Leslie/Ted/Nicole/Kat and enjoy Dani and Bill’s shenanigans (I’m on the Hayley needs to be recast train now tho), Chelsea is second to Kat as my favorite Dupree grandkid and I loved her coming out to her mom. The show was on a truly great run with the big Leslie and Eva reveal at Nicole and Ted’s anniversary party and the fall out has still been good even with the unnecessary Ted recast and them making Leslie kind of dumb by exposing herself too much unnecessarily. The real problem for me started when they rotated back to way too damn much screen time for Derek/Ashley/Andre (if anyone should have been up first for a recast it was these three IMO). They tried way too hard to drum up drama between Ashley and Derek and the actors were clearly fighting for their mediocre charisma less acting lives to make it work but none of it landed, just horrible. Naomi and Jacob and this weird homeless woman story are also BORING. I can see where its potentially going but IDGAF at all, my only hope for them is that they’re building a triangle with Naomi/Jacob/Kat because Jacob and Kat have stronger chemistry together than their current love interests (Eva is the only one who can make the awful Tomas work). Martin, his secret and still cringe worthy acting got kind of interesting with Bill dropping hints to Smitty but they completely lost me with that lil fakeout scene at the country club. The lame “teenagers” (air quotes because Samantha is no Bianca Lawson and never beating the black Andrea Zuckerman allegations) can get off my screen as well. Joey creeping on Vanessa is grossing me out at this point, I actually quite like Vanessa and Doug now but Joey falls totally flat as a villain and someone we’re supposed to buy Vanessa being enamored with. I’m glad they’ve finally set up something interesting for Vernon and Anita to do with this girl band reunion instead of Anita wringing her hands and telling us she feels darkness coming and Vernon giving a civil rights speech every episode but yeah… People who’ve posted with me for other shows know I’m not one for fast forwarding or hate watching either, if I find a majority of a show is not working I usually just quit but because of what this show represents for me as a Black male soap fan I really want to stick it out. Its just become a challenge lately. I saw Guza has left the building and I REALLY hope we hear about some more BTS changes. The additions of Tracy Thompson and Jamie Giddens don’t exactly inspire a lot of confidence from me tho. Honestly praying hard for a new EP to replace JHC, a lot of the stuff that annoyed about her PC and AMC runs has started to match up here. I’m giving the show through the Summer to rectify some things but IDK how long I can hold on tbh. Its been a struggle to even finish some of these episodes lately.
    • I agree. I liked the episode but it felt jarring to suddenly return to a bunch of plots that had been put on pause since the Nurses' Ball started. Although I did like Laura popping in at the end to tell Alexis that millions of dollars have suddenly disappeared from Ace's trust fund. One set of scenes that made me feel optimistic for the next few months were between Sofia Mattsson and Rory Gibson. While Rory has been good as a darker, colder Michael this week, I was worried that he might not have much range. But he really warmed up with Mattsson, and I thought that (for the first time) Michael and Sasha had some genuine chemistry.
    • Next week is going to be such a sad time... I just feel it based on what was shown today. I'm wondering if the whole John being bandaged thing being a throwback to how he first arrived on the show was a Ron C idea since it just seems as though this would be something he would come up with.  If so, it's good that Cwikly/Ford are in charge with the implementing of the idea instead of him. Just a delayed thought from the Ciara scenes earlier in the week, or last week.. and how she had an odd way of dressing/acting.  I chuckle because little Ciara did say that she admired and wanted to be just like Kristen when she grew up.  So the fact that her outfit choices are so odd/off beat and her manner is a bit OTT just fits.. especially since Eileen's Kristen had an odd sense of fashion and that frantic OTT undertone to her delivery. With that said, a part of me wonders how Eileen's Kristen would have handled the scenes being done this week in regards to John's situation.
    • My god the smirking was back in full force today. He almost started smiling after Johnny mentioned he wouldn’t be there if EJ hadn’t raped Sami. I will say I did like seeing him with Dee as they’ve always had great chemistry.    They really are giving a lot of false hope with John getting better. I wish they hadn’t done that. Monday is going to be devastating. I really liked all the characters mixing and mingling today.  Nu-Rachel is still too sweet for me. Loved all the flashbacks. Everyone looked so young. Really enjoyed Brady’s scenes with John today.
