Members redswinglinestapler
Days adds up to a 2.44 to me. How on earth does that round up to a 2.5?
Members oltlwatcher
Yeah I tried to figure that out too since OLTL came out to 2.64 and was placed at 2.6 so wouldn't DOOL be at 2.4??
Members Darcy
I've read that it has to do with the ratings numbers actually being rounded. IOW the 2.4 and 2.5 are really rounded and could be 2.44 and 2.54. If you figure it out that way 2.44 + 2.54 + 2.44 + 2.44 + 2.54 = 2.48 which rounds to 2.5. Members redswinglinestapler
I'm just concerned because SOD had DOOL's ratings at 2.2 for a week that this site had them at 2.3, and I feel like I can't trust in this site anymore.

Members Darcy
I think they all the get their info from the same source (Nielsen) so maybe it was a typo on someone's part if that is the only difference you've noticed.
Members Angela
Four soaps were listed at a .1 lower number in the mags than the numbers LsKreet and SON got from Nielsen. But IMO, this doesn't discredit SON/LsK or the mags, the numers usually are identical. And actually I just averaged the daily numbers, and if we were to go by them, SON/Lsk are in the right for 3 out of 4: DOOL - 2.3 on the dot (SON # of 2.3) OLTL - 2.54 (Mag's # of 2.5) B&B - 3.16 (SON # of 3.2) ATWT - 2.48 (SON # of 2.5)
Members All My Shadows
If the networks were more interested in the Women 50+ ratings, I think soaps would be in such a better condition than they are now. Y&R and B&B are still at the top, but that's just a given. Look at that, ATWT in third place for Women 50 and over. Barbara Bloom...Christopher Goutman...Jean Passanante...ARE YOU SEEING THIS!? Members Mitchapalooza
So one week indescrepency and you are throwing in the trust towel at SON, hardly fair if you as me and not only that but you are choosing to trust a publications like SOW/SOD that half the time are wrong anyways. SON has a proven ratings track record, making such a bold remark like that really is not fair. SON gets their ratings straight from the horses mouth so I am going to trust them. Also just because DAYS got a 2.4 on those 3 days doesn't mean they can be at a 2.5 for the week.
Members redswinglinestapler
I can do math. And three days of 2.4 and two days of 2.5 don't add up to 2.5. If they want to publish the numbers out to the hundredth, and show how those numbers could possibly add up to 2.5, that's fine. However, until that point, these numbers simply don't add up. More importantly, they didn't add up to the magazines either. Second, this will now be the second week of discrepancies, where numbers are being so judiciously rounded up. Finally, I can't speak to anything about the "horse's mouth." I have no idea where these numbers are coming from, and it disturbs me that they were different than the magazine's numbers two weeks ago. The magazines may get things wrong, but I have never heard them be attacked for posting the wrong ratings. Certainly, if that had happened the show's executive producers would have been all over them, and a retraction would have been printed. More to the point, I am looking for an explanation that reconciles the two differences, and explains the justification for rounding these numbers up.
