GH: June 2026 Discussion Thread

I found this to be interesting and positive. From a ratings report (tvratingsguide.com) - GH did really well on Hulu this past week, being the #1 show every single day from June 9-13:

It was a huge week on Hulu for ABC daytime soap General Hospital. While the series is typically a solid performer on Hulu even during the regular season, it really shines in the summer, when there's very little scripted competition. It spent five days at #1 this week, becoming the only scripted series to top the chart this week.

Yeah, I picked up on that this week and kinda went hmmm. But as I'm very close to being caught up...I can see why. And not just because of all the shirtless men on display or hotties in nice fits. Writing has been good and momentum has been back.

I find it really interesting... like Y&R/B&B/BTG are NEVER in the top 10 on Paramount+... and DAYS is NEVER in the top 10 for Peacock... but GH is always in the top 10 for Hulu (this week just happened to have them be #1 every single day).

Either Hulu doesn't have much interesting content whereas Peacock and Paramount+ does... or GH has an audience that loves to stream and is way more popular than the others for streaming... or I don't know, but there has to be something there to study haha. Hulu covers both ABC and FOX... makes me think AMC and OLTL could easily do well online if they could get the chance.

Most of Peacock’s Top 10 list is of shows that are on network TV.

We were talking about it in the Days thread about how Days just suddenly disappeared from the list last year and questioning whether or not Peacock chooses not to include it.

HULU has also been around longer and has a larger subscription base. It will be interesting to see when the plan goes into full effect and Hulu is gone how GH will rank on Disney+. I believe that synergy is still planned to happen soon?

I would imagine the other streamers that show their top 10’s would include everything on their platforms, so maybe those soaps don’t get the same kind of online audience that GH does? I will be honest I have seen DAYS only a few times this year, and it was just not good at all, so once I was done with Peacock for the season (Traitors fan here), DAYS did not entice me to stay longer.

Days literally was in the top 10 for most of it's run after the move to Peacock and fell off completely never to return after John's funeral, which is odd. Peacock is oddly diverse with all their Bravo shows and sports. I am not sure people watching Summerhouse or Love Island are crossing over to Days and I highly doubt people watching the World Cup are going watch Days tomorrow. Peacock also does 0 promotion for Days. I have seen approximately 700 commercials for the Summerhouse reunion (kinda boring, if anyone is curious), but have never seen a Days commercial.

Hulu has a bit more synergy for people who like soaps and is probably more bang for you buck in general. It's also more user friendly than Peacock, which is often the most annoying streamer to navigate. If you are only watching Peacock for Days and don't care about Bravo or niche sports it's not really worth it to pay monthly.

I am not sure any streamer could successfully launch a soap at this point, but Hulu/Disney probably have the best chance.

That wasn't boring. They were dragged and rightfully so. And I didn't even watched the season, heard about the scandal and actually tuned in for the dragging. Okay, I tuned in to see how much of the leaked audio made it into the episodes given the BTS antics.

Now boring in terms of those two not taking accountability then yes boring. lol. Those two are lucky Andy likes to shield his faves like Frank likes to cover for his faves.

Sorry for the mini-rant. You know I love you. )

I honestly feel people are actually interested. Because I feel there's more content on Paramount+ that intrigued me enough before I love the bundle. And I stay finding all kinds of new content on Hulu that keeps me around.

I have no inside information and no source, but my guess is that Hulu/Disney is the only streamer including the soaps in their Top 10.

Y&R and B&B NEVER appeared in the list, and that makes no sense -- not with their daily audiences, and especially since GH is gangbusters when it comes to the Top 10.

I feel, like others, that Peacock stopped including DAYS in their list. It just doesn't make any sense for a show that had done so well to completely disappear, especially with those memorial episodes.

I think not listing the soaps is a way to prioritize their other content, and it's another diss at the soaps.

I feel like I learned nothing from new from the reunion, but I have watched every episode of SH ever lol. Amanda and West also seemed completely high. I guess they have a bonus episode next week because Peacock promotes Summerhouse not Days.

But anyhow, back to GH. lol

I'll admit to being behind whilst ogling Gio's adorable summer bod but having the baby shower at the same place Curtis just crippled Isaiah a.k.a. Dr. Thumb is so wild. “I know it’s uncomfortable for y’all but Frank said this set is UP!”

Another note:

I have to wonder if the network is still very, very skittish about rape-adjacent story post-#MeToo (which sank Franco and vetoed the return of Todd Manning), hence why Lulu/Cassius now feels like a subliminal blip onscreen. They had offscreen sex under false pretenses with him posing as Nathan and then broke up almost immediately, and that rushed romance is now like it never even happened. Not that I'm complaining.

I love Summer House!

I guess if I think about it from a business perspective, I get it... but I still think it's incredibly rude to the soap opera industry if you're purposefully leaving them out of your Top 10s. That's just sad and thank you to Hulu for allowing GH to stay in there and get a little exposure.

I just saw the cutest IG post that Chris McKenna added of him doing karaoke with the guy that plays Cullum. The song was You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling. It was so homoerotic and sweet that now I don't want Cullum to leave. He is way more menacing on TV than in real life and it makes me happy. I don't know how to link IG posts here, otherwise I would, but if you're on IG - go check it out!

Yeah, if that's done with, I'm relieved.

I have been thinking the same thing. They were pushing it hard too. The only other thing I can think derailed them was losing Maxie, and they only wanted the story in the first place to put Maxie and Lulu against each other.

There is the larger issue (of which we soap viewers are all too aware) . . . that a few jurisdictions are fuzzy or unclear with specific laws when the rapist impersonates another person, and the victim consented to be with the person it seemed to be, but didn't consent to sexual contact with the actual perpetrator.
It's called "rape by deception", "rape by fraud", or "rape by impersonation". There have been some laws enacted in recent years in some states.
