Actor and producer Patrick Muldoon, known for his roles in the daytime drama Day of Our Lives, primetime soap Melrose Place and movie Starship Troopers, died suddenly this morning, April 19, following a heart attack. He was 57.

Shocking and way too young.

He was a classic soap matinee idol and I think what he brought to Starship Troopers and the smarmy role of Richard Hart on MP in particular really suited those roles. RIP.

Very shocking. You see the ages of these people and it really drives home our mortality. Maybe “middle-aged” doesn’t mean you have 40 more years left to make things happen. Tomorrow has never been promised, and we’ve been lucky to be here for so long.

I will never forget how much I loved Carrie and Austin when I was a kid.

Very sad.  I really liked Muldoon's first run as Austin.  He was way too young to die.  I feel for his girlfriend and family. Here is a post from Ali Sweeney about Patrick.

This is such a shame and shocking as he is 7 years older than me (whoops just gave away my age...ha ha). I do wonder if Days would write his characters death or since he had a recast just gloss over Muldoon's passing.

What a heartbreaking story to wake up to. I had the pleasure of speaking with Patrick over the years, and he really made every conversation a good one - always fun and upbeat. 57 is way too young. I’m thinking of his family, friends, and his @dayspeacock family, and sending deepest condolences. Rest in peace, Patrick.

This is awful and he was way too young. RIP.

So sad and unexpected 😭 This definitely makes you question sometimes how much longer we all have after a certain point. He was way too young!
