But seriously. I'd never advocate dumping Deidre, especially in the wake of Drake's passing. She's as important to the show as SSH and her ride-or-die, Suzanne Rogers (kidding!). But I do believe that DAYS should give Marlena a new love interest at some point, after an appropriate mourning period, even if that relationship will always dwell in the shadow of Jarlena.

I actually wouldn't give Marlena another love interest. She's had several great loves, obviously John being the greatest, but she works fine as is. She's not as locked in as SSH is due to BH being her real life husband and that's too much, but I think it's very acceptable for Marlena to be single from now on. There is something nice about being okay with having all those years with John and being content with that one huge love story.

Might be interesting at some point for a new man to be interested in Marlena. She would have to work through that and decide if she's ready/prepared to move on. Ultimately she might decide that at this point a relationship is not what she needs.

So, the code to get into the lab is the day that Days debuted 😂😂

I still liked the way that everything was built up today. Despite some mistakes, the kidnapping storyline (and the lab storyline too) are actually interesting to me now. I didn’t even mind Rafe’s hateboner for EJ and the Dimera’s being on full display again lol mostly because of what it could lead to for his and Cat’s storyline, especially now that Cat’s confronted EJ about the kidnapping… and planted a big kiss on him. And because Rafe now found the pod in the lab. Now, if only Andrew could be a part of this.

But I don’t think we needed to see EJ and Paulina going head to head again though. Their scenes, once again, came off like they were trying to out-camp each other, which I’m not a fan of.

But I’m glad that Steve finally captured Owen. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens with him next week.

And we finally saw Alex again. Making him the stubborn, dumb one that refuses to believe that anyone other than Jeremy is the kidnapper was the right decision. Not only because it could lead to some conflict for him and Stephanie once this is all over but it also plays into RSW’s acting style lol the cliffhanger with him could’ve been a little bit better though.

What bugs me about GH is that they intentionally blur everyone's faces, whether they're 70 or 17. Like, if you're trying to conceal natural aging of your cast, hell, just go back to standard definition. It bugs me; I could never watch GH on a binge without feeling like something's wrong with my eyes.

There is absolutely no point in giving Marlena another love interest at her age but most of all following John Black in her life. It's just not possible.

Days is so ridiculous. The writers have been there for almost a year yet nothing interesting happens. The kidnapping is ridiculous. So dumb.

Yes. Unfortunately, Drake, Jed, and Wayne have all passed away. Josh's Roman and Marlena have never worked romantically, so they would have to cast someone new. There was a time post-Wayne/pre-Drake that I thought the show might go with Marlena/Abe, but that was probably too much for the time period and now it wouldn't make much sense. There literally isn't anyone on canvas that would work at this point.

Oh, yeah. It's odd because they weren't half bad back then. JT and DH didn't have anti-chemistry as Chris/Marlena. The Richard Cates era isn't my favorite because it made Marlena look a little dumb, but I also get Marlena's grief and mind frame at the time. I mean, I guess it wasn't as dumb as Marlena thinking John was Roman and that he grew taller and gained 20lbs in muscle in his time away😂

There was so much chem testing in the 80s. A lot more than there is now. I’m really curious if they were actually gonna go there with #Carlena

Didn't JT leave around that time? Or significantly reduced his appearances for his primetime show? That could be the reason. I feel like I read years ago they were always interested in recasting Roman, but could never find the right actor until they cast Drake and the show wasn't even sure then and only decided after they saw Dee/Drake's chemistry.

They did a lot of chem testing in the 80's which I enjoyed. Even in 1979/1980 I felt like Marlena was being tested with half the men in the cast (Josh Fallon especially) and Don was still hanging out in the wings just in case.

I think the Days had more time and budget to explore friendships, possible relationships, rivals, etc. While now they have 3 minutes to complete an episode that will air in 2029 lol.

I thought Stephanie, for example, had some chemistry with Xander and with EJ. But it was never really explored
