Mona, Randy, Lynette triangle? I did NOT see that coming

Tbf, they teased Randy/Lynette from their first scene. Wasn't she also asking Hayley about him in their first scenes together? I'm happy for Randy either way because he can totally get it.

Lynette is such a vixen. The actress is such a find. I hope they have big plans for Lynette.

YES. It's about time soaps had an actual vixen again and she's been giving this week.

At the very least Nicole is being intentionally exhibitionist and is juggling two men at the same time as a coping mechanism. Going from slightly conservative apparel to clubwear is spiraling. I don't think saying a character is a ho is sexist, it's just an opinion. Some people say they've had ho phases and I think that is what Nicole is trying to do.

Exactly. Thank you fo taking the time to explain that. I would've just said Nicole looks tacky as hell and she's acting pathetic.

  • This show does have a sets problem. However there's a bigger issue here that an extra living room for Vanessa wouldn't solve. It's a conceptual problem. The characters need a place that gives them purpose. The hospital fulfills that function for the characters who work at the hospital (although all they do is gossip and hang out). But this is not a hospital show and I don't want it to be. So the writers need to find a place that gives most characters a purpose (ChelseaKat's headquarters? Dani's agency? Berkley University?). Otherwise the characters will keep wander aimlessly from one bar to the other.

  • Really enjoying the Hospital's COS. Finally someone to monitor those heated rabbits. Next in line on her checklist should be neurology legend Dr. Madison. I'm not bothered by the racial optics of this COS being white. I agree with others that Joey is a far more problematic character.

  • Loving Lynette. She has the looks and the charm. That scene in the hotel room with Hayley and Bill, looking all Old Hollywood, was giving me Hitchcock vibes. The set-up reminded me of his movies. However the writing is camp and the writers could never pull off anything Hitchcock-like, if not by mistake of course. This latest antic, with the fake mugging, is so OTT and so easy to solve even for FC's Police.

  • Yeah in order for the Impaler story to be even remotely interesting, the writers should have read some articles or books on plasma rings. I'm afraid that's not the case and it will all be very sugar-coated.

  • It's unnerving they can't respect that girl's aversion to the cotillion. It's not like she's refusing to get vaxxed against COVID lmao. However insisting, I still enjoyed how welcoming Anita was to her. When I was young I was always impressed with families who came across as compact unis. It was easy for me to feel left out and ignored by them, that's why in life I try to be as welcoming as possible with those who are in a marginalized position.

  • I can't with Joey's office deco. First we have a random chair, reminiscent of those hideous, useless 'staircase chairs' from the Duprees' mansion. Who in the world would sit on that chair, facing the wall?? lmao

And next week we'll have a traditional MOKA POT appear. Even if there's no stove in sight. That small room is going to smell like espresso like there's no tomorrow.

I'm not concerned about the chief of staff being white -- yet -- although I reserve the right to change my mind depending on how she wields her power and position.

Joey is far more problematic, and so is Vanessa. I know I'm more upset about their power than most people. I don't expect white people to be expunged from Fairmont Crest, but I am bothered that Joey has so much control over Black people and has so much over their heads.

Same with Vanessa, who now knows the secrets of the wealthy and powerful Black people in town who somehow need to use her whorehouse to get sexual partners. I also hate it that Dani and Nicole are so pro-Vanessa in their support for her.

I'm going to disagree with this one.

That's fine because I am speaking for myself. As a Black woman, I am used to standing alone.

Referencing another hospital head administrator on a P&G soap, Rex Whitmore never took a paternalistic tone when speaking to staff. Even if it got messy. Perhaps they are setting up this new admin for the next murder mystery. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Please read my most recent post. I tried to clarify how I feel about the white chief of staff.

I realize I responded to you and said I disagreed, but since then, I've been thinking about it, and I realize you have a point. I'll wait and see, but I am concerned.

Did it take me a moment to see what you see because I'm white? It's hard to dismiss that, because I come with my own set of biases even though I work really hard to fight them.

I am sorry you feel you stand alone in so many ways. All I can tell you is that I know white privilege is a real thing, and I know that has benefited me throughout my life. That means POC have not received that same benefit, and that will never be OK.

But isn't that plausible given that the impression that the show has given is that they have known Vanessa all their lives. If anything, that fact is ripe for conflict down the road due to what you stated about how much power Vanessa has been amassing.

I hear you, but are you saying because they've known Vanessa all their lives, they should/have to support her? Do they really need to move further down the road to see what Vanessa's doing?

She's with the guy who's a casino mobster. They know how bad Joey is. I know Dani and Nicole have had questions about that relationship, but that seems to be in the past.

Also, these sisters have both been badly burned by cheating in their own marriages. Now they're able to look beyond Vanessa's cheating because they've know her since forever. Oh, that's right, Doug cheated, too, with his mistress "gambling." Vanessa can play her victim card, but I'm not buying any of it.

Joey has been an issue for me because he has so much control over the powerful Black characters including the family that built the community. The hospital chief of staff seemed like a standard rule enforcer, but the Black characters didn't really seems all that threatened by her.

The character prototype for Vanessa was initially listed as being Black so that probably accounts for a lot of how Dani and Nicole interact with her. Depending on the order of casting they may have switched Vanessa to being White because it would have looked really problematic for a successful Black woman to crap all over her successful Black husband for a criminal White man.

Now you know I'm not touching her cheating antics. I know that is quite decisive on this board. Which is more ironic coming from me than you know.

I was more meaning that they might have rose-colored glasses (especially Dani) due to their long-standing friendship than they would like to admit. I do feel and hope that there will come a point though when those glasses come off or Vanessa gets so deep (my working theory is that while Vanessa would never do anything to either one of them, but say Vanessa has to blackmail Vernon...or dare I say it...Anita for Joey) that either or both of them are going to have to seriously call Vanessa out. But by then...it's too late.
