Yes, that period was filled with palpable tension. You could tell there were personal issues. I guess I don't really get Mo/Steve hating TK and by extension TB for doing her job. Alcazar wasn't that popular lol.

So is Vaughn gone for good now? He would be the logical person for Joss to call if she wants help breaking into Wyndemere, not Brick. If Vaughn is off the show for good, it's a shame, because he had palpable chemistry with Joss, and the show invested a lot of time in building them up as a couple.

I thought Vaughn sucked tbh. I had zero interest in him or that couple, just as with Dex.

I didn't think about Vaughn in relation to Joss's idiotic plot, so he obviously didn't leave much of an impression. It's typical GH to start something and abandon it with a whimper and little thought. Anyhow, I won't lose sleep over it.

Unfortunately, that means the show will probably have to hire another love interest for Joss soon or worse they throw her in a triangle with Gio/Emma!

IIRC they were split up officially by Brennan but I thought he was still hanging around town.

I assume he'll pop up soon like he hasn't been gone for weeks/months lol. But I wouldn't hate if he just vanished. He's made zero impression and the whole story has been another flop for Joss, she's been barely on for awhile now til quite recently.

Oh, haha, I made up my own ending for Vaughn I guess. If he is still in town I assume he will show up again. I think yesterday was more of an attempt to give Brick something to do-which don't get me started. It's enough I have to watch him flirt with Carly every few months like its cute.

Anyhow, it does feel like the Joss story flopped and shelved and maybe they are resetting it now? Tying it all up and moving on hopefully. Dumping Brennan finally in the process.

Funny, on other boards a lot of people are thinking this story shoiws that Brennan is sticking around for the long haul, and that he will redeem himself with Carly.

There are claims elsewhere that Vaughn is gone for good, and even rumours that Joss is on her way out. People are pointing out that Joss doesn't really get mentioned in the 2026 preview, besides how Carly is angry with Brennan about recruiting her.

You always have to be a bit cautious about rumors in regards to behind the scenes stuff. For a while it "was known" that Reese Witherspoon never returned as Rachel's sister on Friends because she and Jennifer Aniston absolutely hated each other and refused to work together. Then they ended up working on a new show with each other. But MB and SB, while seeming to be generally well-liked by castmates, do seem very prepared and happy to throw their weight around. And now Marco seems to have been completely ruined so as to retroactively justify Sonny and Jason kidnapping him.

Even though I'm mostly enjoying the show right now, I feel like all the BTS dramas and contract issues are really impeding its ability to give us hot romantic pairings we might root for. I know not everyone on this board will miss Vaughn, but I will, because he's one of the very few guys on this show who was sexy while having a more dangerous, roguish edge. (Some of the other guys on the show in his age range have good bodies but are not sexy at all, unless you have a fetish for self-righteous overgrown Boy Scouts).

Similarly, they tanked Brennan/Carly when Charles Mesure left and they replaced him with a friend-of-Frank who might as well have been playing a totally different character. Chris McKenna might be a nice guy, but he lacks the twinkle Mesure had in his eyes, his Antipodean accent, and his chemistry with Laura Wright. And don't get me started on how Ric Hearst, who has amazing chemistry with several different actresses on the show, has been MIA for several weeks.

The Stephen A stuff is the starf*cker in FV- a relic of the Frons days that any non-daytime celeb is a get. In the old days, he would have been played by someone that was an actual actor and available enough to eventually betray Sonny and get killed off. Instead we just limp along to nowhere.

That middle 2000’s GH was filled with personal stuff showing onscreen. The summer of sleeze, every aborted attempt at Jason/Liz, the stuff with Alcazar, MB and SB throwing their weight around and fighting everything from love scenes to costars.

Then we got to the last couple years of JFP/Guza and everyone was kind of defeatist about the show lasting much longer, and they were hanging on because the clock was ticking. Maurice and Tony Geary especially were in that camp.

I have my issues with Frank, but except for those on the outs or the ones that are a problem for him (Monaco for example) the actors and bts are not the den of vipers it used to be.

You are so right about Steve actively playing against his feelings for Carly for so long it's difficult to say. I agree they were going to pair the two before Steve quit and Sonny/Carly was more of an accident than a long-term plan. They were also teasing Jason with Liz fairly innocently at the time.

In some ways when it did pop up again I always felt it was Carly that was in love with Jason, but he never was romantically in love with her. Other times the show played her so fiercely with Sonny it's hard for me to tell.

The one thread I think Laura Wright has fully kept alive from SJB’s Carly is that I think she loves Jason in every way, not just as her friend. And I agree that thread just isn’t there as strongly for Jason. It started as love for Michael and a deeper relationship with Carly came along for the ride. Then it was his sense of honor about Sonny/Carly. Then it was because he truly loved Sam.

Sonny became something they both had to survive around the time Michael went to jail and the show never picked that thread up fully because the logical conclusion was Sonny finally going to far and Jason having to kill him to protect everything else. It was a line I saw start during Sonny/Emily, and they picked it up again during Claudia and that tension was there until Guza was gone.

The writing was always skewed that Jason was morally correct even though he was also an assassin, and both Sonny and Carly were capable of crossing that line. Which was always funny to me, that Jason was supposed to be the most honorable man in town while being a mob enforcer.

As far as Burton and SJB, it always read to me that he wanted Jason to be with the good girl, and in the case with the Brenda/Sam story- could fall in love with someone not so good if they were psychologically fragile and he rescued them. And that was never going to be Carly played by Sarah or Tamara. But he still wanted it to be Robin when McCullough came back, and she was the one that didn’t want to be stuck in Sonny/Jason/Carly/Michael land again.
