My favorite shot from all of the Faces of the Heart openings. Luke & Laura at the end of the September 2002 intro.

I never notice that it looks like they were in separate shots.

RIP, Tony.

I think it would be fitting for GH to do a week of 5 classic Luke episodes in tribute of Tony seeing as he is 1/2 of the biggest soap couplings.

I think that's what Soapnet would have been best served for. I know how important he was to GH but unless they dig up 5 never seen episodes from 1978 or 1979 I'm good with just one tribute episode for Tony/Luke.

Anders Hove, as quoted by tvinsider
“Tony always went out of his way to be a good friend and great acting partner. Right up till the end, he was fun, funny, an incredible sense of humor, and wonderfully cynical in a beautiful way. I’ve made many visits to Amsterdam for visits, and every time was more fun than the one before. He’ll always make me smile — and laugh — just thinking of him, which I always will.”

There are people who fill a room by demanding attention.
And then there are people like Tony — who never asked for it, yet held it effortlessly.

For nearly seven years, I had the privilege of standing beside him on General Hospital, portraying his son, Lucky… and if anyone was Lucky, it was me!

What I came to understand quickly was that Tony wasn’t interested in being celebrated — he was interested in being present. Present in the work. Present with his fellow actors. Present in the quiet moments that mattered far more than applause.

When I first joined the show, months later we found ourselves in New York for the Emmys. Tony took me under his wing without fanfare, without hierarchy — just generosity. Sitting front row at Radio City Music Hall with him wasn’t about the ceremony. It was about being beside someone who carried himself with humility, curiosity, and kindness, even in moments meant to shine a light on him.

One of my most treasured memories is a scene where my character lay on life support. Tony leaned in, called me “Cowboy,” and softly sang “Don’t Fence Me In.” It was simple. Tender. And unforgettable. He had me welling up while I was trying to be still. That was Tony — never pushing, never performing for effect, just telling the truth of the moment.

He taught me that greatness doesn’t announce itself. It listens. It gives. It lifts others quietly. His impact on my life — personally and professionally — didn’t come from lessons spoken out loud, but from how he showed up every day with love and a smile.

I am deeply grateful for the time, the trust, and the humanity he shared with me.
Tony, thank you for the work, the love, the laughter, the guidance — and for reminding me that the most meaningful legacies are carried softly.

You will always be with me.

I’m at a loss for words over the passing of my mentor, on-screen father, and dear friend, Anthony Geary. He gave so much to his craft and cared deeply about his fellow actors. Even after my time on General Hospital, we always remained close, and I will forever be grateful for his guidance, generosity, and friendship. RIP Tony.

Tony is receiving the most mainstream press of any soap opera in death I've ever seen. It really speaks to how much of a cultural impact Luke and Laura had that they're still talked about 44 years later. if you know nothing else about soaps, you know Erika Kane and Luke & Laura.

Meant to attach to previous post. The local ABC affiliate in Rochester New York, doing a behind-the-scenes report on Luke and Laura's 1993 return to GH which was shot there. It's tremendous the scope and budget that soaps had back then!

Thanks @Planet Soap

Interesting to hear the PR response Genie has to say (that she's wanted to return for a long time) with what she later said (ABC gave her no real choice).

Another PR line from Tony ("there is no Luke without Laura") compared to his actual feelings.

I like getting to see their stunt people.

As you said, the money is just flowing here.

Emma and Tony have a good chemistry here (more than they often did as Luke/Bill and Holly - funnily enough Tony seems a bit defensive about those complains here). I never knew Emma had her own talk show.

Not sure if this was common knowledge but Tony and Emma say that they insisted Bill and Holly go for AIDS tests before they made love for the first time.

Those were his actual feelings for many years. He was very, very protective of LNL in the press until about 2006-7. He proudly called himself 'the keeper of the flame' and was intense about it. Then things changed. But he was always very respectful re: Genie in print.

I know you've mentioned that before. It's always been interesting to me as I felt a real chill onscreen even by the time of Genie's 1998 return.

Yep, it’s definitely still available through Roku and I think Pluto. I see ads for it all the time. Just turned it on, and yepppp, still showing episodes from “Season 58,” which is what…2020-2021? Who is begging to watch those again.

Haha thanks. I was watching those bc I largely quit soaps in the mid/late 2010s so it was all new to me
