Aw, memories of Colleen today with Lily and Traci. Another character that should not have been killed off at the expense of Victor Newman. But the memories feel nice.

Honestly, a cute Christmas episode this year. No AI discussions, no business arguments, etc. it is just about family and history. Also, the flashback to the O.G. Newman Ranch makes me appreciate how much better the 'new' Ranch actually is as a set.

I thought this Christmas episode was lousy.

-- Ashley stayed in Paris instead of seeing her daughter and grandchild? Tracy headed out with any instead of bringing Amy to the Abbotts'? Kyle was out with Harrison?

-- Jack talked of family being everything while there was no family around.

-- Billy bringing up Delia, Sally her sad childhood and Victor his Christmas Eve orphanage story does not a festive Christmas make.

-- Johnny and Katie were actually good, but now we won't see them again for 6 months.

-- Also good? The cast holiday greetings at the end of the show, but that was a reminder that we didn't get much family in the Christmas episode.

-- This episode would have worked if we got a family Christmas show the next day. Instead, we got this quiet, low energy hour. Disappointing.

At least it wasn't another one of those "It's a Wonderful Life" homages where some poor soul glimpses what life in Genoa City would be like without them. I've had enough of those to last me the rest of this life and the next.

Lord, the way JG scrolled wikipedia to come up with the Victor/Nikki and Jack/Diane Christmas gifts.

And what was with the Sally Emmy bait speech to Victoria, of all people? And it just droned on and on and on.

Are we serious with this Christmas episode? So little characters are even featured. Where’s Nick, Sharon, Adam, Chelsea, Noah, Christian, Faith etc? I can appreciate that they featured the other Newman kids (Johnny and Katie) but also, why does Johnny have blonde hair and light features when both parents have thick, dark hair? Anyways. I would have liked to see more Newmans for the Christmas episodes AND the Abbotts. We only get Jack and Diane for Christmas? Where was Kyle, Ashley, Traci? My god the lack of effort is astonishing

All that needed to be said. At least it was better than my expectations given the 12/23 episode was a hot mess between the Matt drama and Cane/Phyllis kissing scenes.

@Ryanc2 Johnny has blonde hair because Billy had blonde hair at the time 😉

Yeah but aren’t we supposed to forget that? Hes portrayed by a new actor who absolutely is not a blonde what so ever and you’d think the kids would resemble who they are now. It’s not really a big deal just something I picked up in and found odd

I'm waiting for BM to return so Traci can remind Victor that he has an Abbott heart.

I thought BM might return for Xmas. Needless to say, I was disappointed she didn't even call out TGVN to Lily.

On the plus side, the Lily/Traci scenes were done well.

OC Nikki slithers back to the Ranch to collect whatever rare, collectable toy$ Victor got her. Gross.

Seeing the O.G. ranch set again today really makes me appreciate how much better the current set is. However, the way in which production (especially post) is done in today's classic episode, I much prefer it. It has that classic Y&R look that we always had, even prior to going high definition.

And, even in 4:3, the 2003 opening is better than the PowerPoint we have now. Truly. We need a major update to the opening to something brand-new. We really do. Hell, bring back this opening but with actual clips from the show.

Victoria & Billy's daughter Katherine (known as "Katie") . . .
(sometimes referred to as Katie Abbott, Katie Abbott Newman, or Katie Newman)
has been played by Sienna Mercuri since 2016.

IMDB erroneously lists the actress for Dec. 24, 2025 as "Sierra Mercier".
But no! It's still Sienna Mercuri.
Closing credits for Dec. 22, 2025

Heh, did you catch the other day when they pretended Faith was at Sharon's house? (looked it up, 12/19). Noah and Sienna and were all "Oh, isn't it nice that Faith was here! Too bad she had to leave already! But it was so nice to meet her, she's sweet! Now she left with her security detail!" WTAF. The old school way of not mentioning unseen characters was actually better. They over-explain so much, it's crazy. I didn't need to be told Claire was sooo busy wrapping presents that she couldn't come to Billy's house. I would not expect Claire to be sitting in on Billy's visit with his kids, cause she isn't one of them.
