This genuinely feels like character assassination for Dante. I can’t imagine there’s a single fan that’s behind how he’s acting about Gio. It’s so over the top and we’re still no closer to Lulu and Dante reuniting.

It’s actually ridiculous to see Ric with his natural hair color and Sonny with a fresh shoe polish dye job.

GH even has a bathroom set for the Brown Dog bar. The other soaps are truly put to shame by the sets GH has.

I feel like, for whatever BTS reasons, the show doesn't want to use Kin Shriner anymore, and so Martin has basically taken Scotty's place. Pretty much every scene Martin has had in the past few months would have had more emotional resonance if it had been played by Scotty (well, assuming the directors could have reined in some of Kin's hammier acting tics). I was really thinking that during the various scenes where Martin pops up to be supportive of his insta-sister Laura--if these had been Laura/Scotty scenes, they might have been actually poignant, not just time filler.

Excellent point, @prefab1 !

I adore MEK as an actor and always will, but it hasn't escaped me how that man has always struggled to play someone other than Tad Martin. He really was meant to play him forever.

The show has seemed to have issues with how to use Scotty for a long time now, but even if the show didn't seem to be done with him, they wouldn't be able to use him now anyway as Kin has been (or was in) Florida for some time due to a foot problem and a botched surgery, IIRC.

Due to his depression and the marked decline in writing quality, I don't even think MEK was able to play Tad for those last 10-15 years. He seems more checked in now, but Martin isn't up to anything as a character (and any romances they have hinted at for Martin, like with Tracy, are nonstarters).

Now that Martin doesn’t have a KFC accent, he doesn’t bother me. And it doesn’t feel like MEK is playing Tad. It also helps he looks significantly better than he did those last years as Tad. I actually forget he’s now playing Babe’s uncle and not stepfather mainly because I try to block out Babe and Krystal from my memory.

Totally agree. If Scotty hadn't become such a buffoon, him in a triangle with Tracy and Lucy could have been interesting.

It's hard to believe that Michael E. Knight has been appearing on this show, taking up space, since 2019. He's had less than zero impact. They should have just let him play Tad.

And how about Jon Lindstrom, he was on both today's episode of GH and BTG; in some markets they air at the same time; switch the channel and he's still there.

I preferred MEK with the beard and accent tbh. That at least made Martin a bit different. Without them he's just Sad Tad from late period AMC again (albeit less haggard and heavy - Michael looks great) whining and doing shítty stuff. Waste of my time. But Martin always was, really.

Yeah, I have been saying for a while now that Scotty could easily take Martin's place. He obviously wouldn't be related to Laura, but he could even take Martin's place as a confidante or talk to for her. The history with Lucy and Tracy makes it much easier to sell a romance since 5 minutes will be devoted to it a month and there's at least history there to make it believable with minimal effort.

I would consider a few ideas for Michael, including someone new (like a driven Asian doctor in the Patrick or Monica mold). Serena is a good option but one who I think might be a bit too pat and obvious initially - two core kids. Maybe if you play up the business aspect between them with her being a cosmetics tycoon/philanthropist like Dominique or Lucy. I do also think there is room for Michael and Willow to have hate sex lol, or for her to keep trying to land him again before she inevitably flames out for good. Then there's the Zoe Ward thing Guza almost did but who never made it onscreen. In the case of Serena and Zoe you have characters who are essentially new, blank slates. Same goes with creating someone from scratch.

There's just many strong options for a strong new lead. None of which involve playing it cheap and lazily doling out the same story Michael has already done before with the nearest low-cost dayplayer you can find. Invest in new personalities and characters up front. If Kimberly McCullough had come back in 2025 and not 2005, would Frank have created a new character like Patrick Drake for her or would he just have had her float around among his already-cast actors? It's depressing.

I think if Michael has hate sex with anyone, it needs to be Nina. Not just because it will make Willow's head explode once she finds out, but also because Rory Gibson and Cynthia Watros had some hot antagonistic chemistry in their most recent scenes together.
