I was googled "Winterfest".
That's the name of a variety of festivals held in various locations in US and Canada.

Some examples of dates and lengths of time:

  • November 1st - January 1st.
  • December 1st - January 1st
  • a single day in December
  • a week in January
  • a weekend in February

It happens during the season of winter, but each community does does it differently.
Athletic tournaments, holiday decor, crafts and fairground events.
Some of the events are outdoors in the cold and include ice events, with firepits and s'mores to warm up afterwards. Some have ugly sweater contests.
Some are Christmas-related but some are not.
Other events are entirely indoors and don't relate to winter at all.

The variety of winterfests I've found are amazing.
This is an interesting idea for BTG, because it doesn't have to be pinned to a specific date, unless the dates are stated by dialogue or printed on props.

On for sure. Just about every town and/or city here in the US for sure have some variety. Some even in the same city. I know here in San Diego, there's a big event called December Nights at the park that's a 2 night event (and has all kinds of traffic mess ;) ), but I believe there will also be some winterfest-y event fairly soon in Little Italy here as well.

I never heard of "winterfest" until BTG mentioned it.   That's why I googled and posted about it, because it was an entirely new idea (for me).  I guess it's fairly common, but I had no idea until now.

  • So nice to see Nicole and Vanessa unwind at Uptown for a cocktail and some chit-chat.
  • Oh God. It is the dinner from Hell upcoming, right? The con artist child bride is slapping it on extra thick with Jacob and Naomi. Whew.
  • Joey is not backing down on the Randy angle where his "cuz" is concerned. He knows something is up!
  • A family vacation? That is an interesting idea.
  • Dana, your overdramatic behind should go audition for a community play. I am sure you would book the lead in an instant.
  • Ouch, the dinner is getting more steely and cold by the moment.
  • Dana, I know one something you could do... seek professional help!
  • The banter between Martin and Nicole is cute. I like those moments between son and mother. But he has every single right to feel the way he does about the spoilt bitch and her inability to keep her mouth shut in public about private things.
  • Vanessa unspiraling with Steve is everything; she clearly sees Douglas in him and does not want him to end in the same position.
  • Poor Laura having severe PTSD from seeing Dana; yeah, this is going to spiral some more as we head into WinterFest more.
  • Not the con artist child bride's dream getaway being invaded by the Hawthornes. But uh-oh, Naomi saw a prescription for the pill. YOU BEEN CAUGHT!
  • Dana needs to back off of Martin... she has already manipulated him enough.
  • I wonder what Anita and Nicole have up their sleeves where Dana is concerned.
  • Joey's snide remarks lately are quite... cutting, if I do say so. Makes me wonder much more about him, and I wish Vanessa would wonder more.
  • Not the lie about the birth control pills. Girl, your plans are not working. Just give it up!
  • "Nothing's aching for me?" Oh, Vanessa. I would not say it is aching. Throbbing? Sure. But aching?
  • Oh, Vanessa is PLAYING Joey. I know she is. That smile gave it all away.

Notes:

  • David Lami Friebe (Izaiah) needs to STOP! I get sick just looking at him. It has to be nipped in the bud.
  • Trisha Mann-Grant (Dana) continues to stand out in how she presents the text brought to her. When the script is good, you can easily present it, and the scripts continue to be excellent.
  • Lauren Buglioli (Vanessa) is delicious. Purely delicious. She knows what she is doing, and she does it exceptionally well.

Damn good episode today. Entertaining all around. Everybody showed up.

I hope the show plans on using Izaiah in an interesting capacity because they are bouncing him around well enough.

Winterfest really should be used as "THAT" event. The kind loaded with confrontations, surprises, and other mysterious happenings.

But will it be?

I think so. They're building so many stories to come to a head there

I disagree. I’m trying to get into this show, but I can’t. The show seems to cut to commercial mid scenes. I don’t get this show. The production is terrible.

I disagree; I think it's found its own pace that works for them and is not comparable with the other soaps, which is to their advantage. It's a different kind of soap.
