Right, it doesn't add up for me.  Ashley's Andre drama notwithstanding, if I was with someone who we were worried might never use his legs again, and I found out he could, THAT would be what I cared about.  Sure, I'd be hurt that he didn't tell me sooner, but I would probably get that the reason might have been because he wasn't sure just how well he would be able to use his legs, etc.  To have everyone act like he betrayed Ashley.  Ugh.

Derek is the safe choice for Ashley which is why she was willing to marry him, although part of that was motivated by sympathy for his condition. Either way she should have just left him alone.

Naomi is projecting her anger about her own situation into Ashley's and that is wrong. She's trying to make Ashley have an angry response of throwing Derek's things outside and that just isn't who Ashley is. And that nasty crack about hope she made to Derek was seriously annoying.

Kat and Ted had a much needed talk. While I think Kat is being ridiculous thinking that Ted is putting Eva in front of her, I do think Kat was right to tell him about Eva's antics. Furthermore, it's way overdue that Ted had a conversation with Tomas. Tomas has played both of his daughters against each other and Ted needs to hold him to task.

• Once again, right when Shanice inches towards my good side, she becomes unprofessional at work, yet again, and it turns me off.
• Sharon is in [Up]town, meeting publicly with Vernon... I am sure their assumed lessons are moving forward at this point.
• I am glad that Bradley is trying to remain civil with the spoilt bitch, but she keeps talking about this as if she is not aware of why Martin feels the way he does or how inappropriate her discussion was.
• They are really trying to sell Sharon and Vernon as having an affair, but I am not buying it one bit.
• I knew Dani would notice the changes Andre is implementing, and that would lead her to withdraw from the deal with Forrester.
• Eva is me: who TF are the Harlem Globetrotters? Ha. I do not follow sports at all (nor do I need it explained to me, as I do not care).
• So Derek has firefighter friends in Liam and Sheryl? That is cute. Now take your shït and get the fück out!
• It is about time someone called out the continued personal conversations happening at the nurse's hub. Good on you, Ashley! That is my girl!

Notes:

• Today's breakdown by Dunn is giving the writer and writer², and I am not happy about it at all.
• The audio in today's episode had brief moments of echoing, especially in scenes at the airport set. I wonder what happened there?

These audio / music adjustments are off. What is happening?

-- In the open with Anita meeting nurses who are her fans, it sounded like a loud, bustling hospital -- which we've never heard before. Overkill.

-- We got music and crowd noise in the Uptown segment with Vernon and Sharon that didn't work.

-- Now I'm hearing music at the country club that doesn't fit the atmosphere and ambience.

-- We also got music at the airport and at the coffee shop corner.

BTG used music SPARSELY since day one. I have said that it was too limited and needed work, but if this is the fix, they've over-corrected.

It's so painfully obvious Vernon isn't the cheating type, so to make us think he may be is silly. Every other line and scene has an innuendo, it's overboard. We know what they're doing...

I liked the Smitty/Kat scenes.

I'm glad they haven't forgotten about Laura's accident and Leslie running her off the road.

Dang, they have a new girl for Derek already - I wonder if she'll be recurring.

So after ALL that, Dani and Andre are still going to LA? Just go do the photoshoot - it was Dani's dream and Andre is fine with it. I didn't really buy Dani's reasoning.

Vernon is being hella disrespectful! I dont care if he's cheating bc the biggest red flag is how easily he lies and he does it with a smile. Men like that are dangerous. And why were the cufflinks off? Why would he need to be undressing his shirt in a hotel room? Im sure Sharon is giving him singing lessons but I dont like how sneaky they are being especially knowing how Anita is and that she can be territorial over him. I dont think she'd appreciate him bonding any any intimate way with someoen that viewed her as an opp just a few months ago

Pacing is still an issue with the show and the whole Derek/Ashley arc is a perfect example of how the pacing is off.

Had we seen Derek progress from hiding his progress in a misguided way of surprising Ashley on their wedding day to trying to keep her tied to him... then I could buy Ashley's reaction.  Instead of seeing that slow descent play out, the story was fast tracked to where Ashley discovered Derek just as he finally managed to stand without falling... so her reaction is out of whack and over the top.

I'm not sure if the writers intended for this to be the case, or if this was a change after the change of co-head-writers.   The story as I was seeing it seemed like something Guza would have suggested and cooked up... and now I'm wondering if the story was fast tracked in order to free up Ashley/Derek to move into different orbits.

Speaking of which, Derek had more chemistry with his female co-worker than he did with Ashley...imho

Completely agree. The pacing is so bad it makes Ashley out to be a ridiculous villain.

The Vernon/Sharon stuff does not work for me. A couple days of "fooling us" with dialogue having us question what was going on was OK, but this is absurd. 

It's OBVIOUS there's nothing romantic is happening. Are we supposed to believe these setups mean anything?

Why the hell are Sharon and Vernon meeting at Uptown? What was the purpose of that get-together? If this WERE about cheating, they wouldn't meet there, but would be banging in a hotel room. If this WERE about cheating, they wouldn't meet in a popular public place where THE ENTIRE FAMILY goes. Vernon is a former SENATOR, and that makes the absurdity even greater.

If this is about singing lessons, this Uptown meeting is stupid as hell, and the cufflinks make no sense.

Last time, they were ahead for eighteen episodes. I am sure it'll be fixed eventually.

All this cheating talk makes me laugh at how naive I was in the past... on this topic. I used to think only the really hot/interesting guys cheat. I thought the boring ones were safe. How foolish of me. I had a friend who dated this incredibly nice vanilla guy (on the surface) who gave 0 red flags (maybe this was the biggest red flag 😂) and then months later found his secret Instagram and was in tears. "I never thought he the cheating type!" Then there's my experience - never had a hot guy cheat on me. The ones that friends warn you about and tell you to be careful, since anyone that attractive can't be trusted almost. Never had an issue. With another friend we used to joke that maybe those who get plenty of action don’t need to cheat for validation. Who knows. Meanwhile, the so-called "good" guys, who seem perfectly loyal, are often the ones craving excitement. (Not all the time, of course. There are good guys who are just good guys period.) It’s all twisted. So IMO there’s no specific cheating "type". It can happen to anyone, even in seemingly perfect relationships. Keyword - seemingly. Of course there are these as-holes that are one big red flag and it's too obvious. But monsters can hide in sheep's clothing too!
