SON Community Back Online
  • Webmaster

Dear members,

In November, the SON Community will undergo a design revamp with the release of Invision Community 5, marking the first significant update to the forum software since the release of Invision Community 4, which was installed over a decade ago.

As a result, particular features/services, including SendGrid, our automatic email service provider, will be permanently removed.

New Experiences:

To accomplish this, there will be an expected short period of downtime for the SON Community. This will enable us to make the necessary updates and changes, allowing the community to continue thriving after more than 24 years since its original launch as an ezBoard on October 8, 2001.

Love dark mode!

Is there a way to get rid of the sidebar?

I don't care for the dark mode. It makes me sleepy.😂

Love the sidebar!

I'm already feeling the effects of the dark mode. I usually get a very light headache (at night) if I stare into the glaring white of the forum for more than a few minutes. Now it's gone. LOL. We are getting older... WE NEED the dark mode.

@Errol I have noticed that the file upload feature currently only permits the uploading of images - accepted file types - gif, jpeg, jpe, jpg, png, webp, avif. Up until today, there was also the option to upload videos, with a maximum size limit of 4.88 MB. Does this mean that the latest version of the board will no longer support video uploads as it did previously?

Allowing video uploads was an oversight. This has been corrected in the new version, as in the past, people often uploaded videos they didn't own. While I'm not going to tell people what to do when it comes to video, whether it's owned or not, I can suggest there are better platforms for sharing, such as YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, etc.

Thanks for the response. It's no issue for me. What is best for the forum is okay with me.
