Wasn't he going to live with Sonny, Will, and Ari the last time that we saw him after he was paroled? Because Ari didn't mention leaving Grandpa Lucas behind in Arizona, or wherever they live.

I'm hoping this will just be some random guest character, because she's not an actress. Pat Sajak was on DAYS as Kevin Hathaway for one episode on November 9, 1983. I don't know what his story was, but I'm pretty sure he didn't have any connection to Megan.

Am I correct that Mark, Aaron, and Felicity Greene are missing? I assume they are recurring (but, Jack, Jennifer, and Sami are there, so it doesn't seem contractual, as much as preserving history).

I am trying to figure out if that is Sofia on the other side of Tate from Holly.

Poor Jada and Kate are at the edges, but they look great. And I have a hard time telling Gabi and Ari apart when they are both dressed up and in makeup.

I don't even think it's a contest---it's San Cristobel. It may not be realistic to have multi-millionaires and multi-national corporations on every block, but at least it's rooted in the relatable. Princes descending on a midwestern town it beyond ridiculous. Even when we got rid of the island, we were stuck with the inhabitants. And of course, then along came Jonathan. RME. We were stuck with them all, thanks to Reva.
Thanks for the info and Dinah/Moniz. While I don't think Sydney Penny would've worked in the role as written for Moniz, maybe Dinah wouldn't have been so over-the-top bitch either.

BTG: January 2026 Discussion Thread

I don't understand why the show made the huge announcement Greg Vaughan was joining the show only to feature him twice and then he just vanishes. It's been a month since he last aired. I guess this would be my one big complaint with the show.
I really enjoyed JV's introduction today. Like GV, he just fit in seamlessly. I just hope the pacing of appearances is fixed quickly.

Assorted thoughts and questions from late Season 7 and early Season 8:
-- Just what type of show was A Better Tomorrow once it was exclusively Cathy's? Was it just her singing for 30-60 minutes? Maybe she should have been a VJ, or had celebrity guests. I can't imagine Cathy answering fan mail, giving advice or, god forbid, attempting to preach on the show.
-- This might be a generalization, but Greg & Laura are kind of the smart man's J.R. & Sue Ellen. Laura's eyes are open about Greg. She doesn't have to experience the annual indignity of the "This time he's changed!" routine. Things came close to that in the home stretch of the Empire Valley saga, when Greg only cleaned up Lotus Point because he couldn't afford politically not to.
-- I wonder where "Holister" came from. Maybe it was Mrs. Simpkins' maiden name. Also, I kinda wish that Peter had to dramatically change his name, like Dorothy/Jill did. Going from "Petey" to Peter doesn't count. How do we feel about Ezekiel?
-- Peter's sham claim as a Galveston heir is kind of the successor to Val's lie about Ben fathering Bobby & Betsy. Everyone knows or could know the truth, but are keeping up appearances.
-- Eric & Michael's catfight (it's too emotionally charged to be a brawl) is just as campy as I imagined it to be.
-- While I appreciate someone's bull detector being active regarding Paige, I'm not sure Lilimae should be the one voicing concerns. Especially the one about insinuating her way into Karen & Mack's home. Uh, Lilimae, remember how you wound up at Val's?
-- I'm sure we've discussed this, and she probably wasn't interested in doing a soap again, but I keep thinking Pamela Sue Martin could have brought some presence to the role of Jean Hackney. Not only that, but it couldn't have hurt CBS' mission in moving Knots to 9 p.m. Thursday for the fall of '86 -- deliver the killing blow to The Colbys on ABC. (Something Cheers was more than capable of doing.)

DAYS never learns. Why must management make the same stupid mistakes? Sure, trim the fat to help the budget, but doing it with the wrong characters is moronic. What an accomplishment that DAYS was able to celebrate it's 60th year but the show needs to be multigenerational.
The show has been boring for awhile now and it hasn't ranked in the top 10 in months. They are getting rid of the wrong people.

A.I. Soaps

I was literally going to post about this very same topic on here the other day by presenting the exact same question.. what would everyone think of AI soaps?
On one hand, it would resolve the lack of sets and large casts, which soaps had in the glory days with a larger budget. It would be so fun to see a vibrant rich fictional world with different families and classes exist in an AI universe where the writer or “creator” of this can be in the drivers seat showing us their vision for this kind of soap opera. It would be such a fun creative outlet for someone like me, who as @dc11786 mentioned, were one of those people creating fan fiction and actually wrote different storylines and posted episodes daily. I could control who comes and goes, what actors I wanted playing these roles in my make believe world. It would be really cool to see how this would work in 2026 with AI.
On the other hand, one of the main things I love about soaps is also the real humans who play these roles. Each actor has a unique approach to acting and when we watch these shows the reason we feel so connected to it is because we see ourselves in these, very much real HUMANS. If we took that away what would it look like.. would it just be soulless and empty? It’s definitely fun to think about though.
When I imagine what it would look like/mean to have an AI soap I can’t help but picture the Sims 😂 except obviously more advanced than that.

with GL it was ridiculous, you'd have folks traveling back and forth from the island like it was the diner. Per the Island people, i think Olivia and Edmund assimilated the best. Especially once Alex returned and Edmund was basically her new warren/hawk or buzz type-task person.
Michelle married to the mob would've been the perfect opportunity to bring in Uncle Mike from DC to crackdown on racketeering, but alas we GL fans couldn't have nice things.
Worse than the mob and the island people was Jeffrey. As they said in mean girls, the producers tried to "make fetch happen." He was shoved down the audiences' throats so hard, it should've been criminal. Rumor was that they considered making him a Bauer, which I would've welcomed because if were stuck with him at least give us some lip service towards series lineage. Personally, he should've been Alan/Rita's son if anything.
Makes you wonder where the show would've gone if the Dinah/Hart actors were convinced to stay or if the Teri/Annie character wasn't such a flop.

Definatley the Island of WhiteBread people did the most damage. It was not only dumb, it was already outdated material by the time it started airing. Rauch dusted off his fairy tale island from the OLTL OTT era and pushed it on GL like it was something new. Prince Richard was one note (how do you write for a fairy tale prince...unless you he gets together with his princess and leaves town forever and then it would have all been with it.) The only way to write it was like the Dobsons did orignally with James Stenbeck, the fairy tale prince turns into a nightmare. Once Cassie is married she is only allowed to go to certain places on the island..why? Say a hot guy of color is cast as a leader of the rebels who kidnaps her and shows her what was really going on in the island..the natives working to prop up the royals and their rich friends...leaving Cassie torn...she then sees Richie is as bad as Eddie (with a more polite facade) and then works against him ( I would have had Richard be the one to hold Cassie in the tower) But no way would Rauch and team present something that was not bland tripe that they thought the fat dumbies at home still watching the soaps (their view of their audience) would love.
At least the idea of the mob made some sense...the straight lace Bauers, pillar of SF contracting with this shady family. Only the execution sucked. Having no Bauer patriarch to go up against Carmen hobbled it from the start.
