Turns out Nathan is not a bad guy after all. He is giving Samantha an out.

I'm not going harp on the sets thing, but the reality is Samantha would have taken him to her room and not be open out on the couch. That's just dumb.

Just bc he asked for consent doesnt mean he isnt a bad guy. I never thought he was bad but he definitely did ghost her, he did lie about why and he is using her. She's still being played

This show really needs to do something about these lack of bedroom sets. It makes no sense that she would go find this guy and bring him home to have sex on her family couch in broad daylight when anyone could have walked in. Ideally she'd have her own bedroom which would be locked. They dint even try to make this look more organic like have them hanging out watching tv and casually start kissing. Jumping to sex right there was a bit much

Elon judging Izaiah after he has taken money from a criminal is rich.

Ted making a scene was totally entertaining. Nicole would not be entertaining Carlton if not to get a reaction from Ted so she got the attention she ordered. And on a side note, Shanice really pushed the boundaries of not minding her own business.

Samantha knows better, but at least she did this after listening to Kat and Chelsea as opposed to after talking to June so June doesn't get blamed for this.

Hawthornes > Duprees

Months back I remember the mention of Jacob's brother that was a cop and I had thought that there would hopefully be a third Hawthorne that didn't follow into the family tradition of law enforcement/dispatch (since Mama Hawthorne worked in dispatch).

And now knowing that Jacob is the oldest... I can't wait till the show casts Luke as the middle child that probably became a cop in order to get Elon's approval and is still probably living under Jacob's shadow.

I think the show has finally found a niche for Chelsea.. the logical rational Dupree.  In a family with an intense dad (Bill), unhinged mom (Dani), and overly judgmental sister (Naomi)... there always has to be the quiet and rational member of a family.. and Chelsea is that person.

I also think Eva lives rent free in Kat's mind... but I can understand why given the whole Tomas drama.

Rowena was mentioned about 6 times in the opening scene. Surely we're getting a Rowena, right?

I’m shocked we get extra regularly at the public spaces but we can’t get an extra to play this housekeeper we’re constantly hearing about.

It’s weird, they’ll do the redressing to give Tyrell his tiny set but they couldn’t do the same for Samantha. I guess they wanted her to get caught immediately?

Kat is most certainly too obsessed with ever now. Parking herself at Uptown to warn Izaiah after she already warned him was absurd. It's not like he's some bumpkin off the bus from Chadwell, Oklahoma that Eva is going to send spiraling into debauchery. She wants revenge on Eva, but I have to wonder if seeing Izaiah doesn't have her thinking about trying to trade in Tomas for a more exciting prospect.

I can’t get over Carlton acting like it’s totally cool to pursue your friend of 20+ years/business partner’s wife before the ink has even dried on the divorce paperwork. That is not a real friend at all and if Ted had punched him he’d be justified.

Now...GOOD.

Regardless of the several people who mentioned that Luke DID exist and that the Hawthornes were probably a bigger family (how else can you have a second family introduced and it has seen like the writers might go that way due off of the first scene between Anita and Elon where we got family info in the first place? ;) But we all know I lean toward the Hawthornes being the next major family to come onto the show for a middle-class family but I digress...), people were really running with 'it's a retcon' narrative. Nitpicking to nitpick.

Thankfully, I figured...since I read the NEXT WEEK synopsis...that Elon would be popping up for 1) more clarification which is standard old school soap when introducing a family member and 2) to get interaction between the newest member of the family so the audience can get a feel for it them and warm up to the new member...which is also an old school soap thing.

So :P

Thank you! You were not alone on that. And they still gave Luke a stray comment here and there, too. So I know you...like me...feel some vindication today.

We already knew that the Hawthornes were a police family since that first Anita meeting with Elon. I figured too that there would either be a bad boy brother (but a cop) or some form of a black sheep, too. So far...I'm liking what I'm seeing because it's so organic conflict and relatable.

Same re: Luke. And I can see that happen, too. And how you worded gives me hope that Izaiah will be the misunderstood, but good brother and Luke might actually be the bad boy in the end after all.

-- What happened on the show today was entertaining, but for me a lot of it was clunky in execution and dialogue.

-- The conversation between Kat and Chelsea about Kat's sex life did not work. On some days, these characters come off as real and genuine, but their discussion was awkward as hell. Talking about "The O"? I didn't believe it. Yeah, I know it was an excuse for dumb Samantha to hear it and take the wrong cues, but still.

-- How does Samantha walk away from school during the day for so long and to go to so many places? Yesterday she went to Orphey Gene's for lunch and set up her laptop. Today she went to Uptown. What kind of school does this girl attend? Bad execution of plot.

-- Samantha getting caught on the couch with Nathan was cringe. There were a dozen other ways to have her get ahead of her skis, make wrong decisions, and get caught. Why go with something that just makes her look stupid? Again, bad execution.

-- I have no problem with an argument among Nicole, Ted, and Carlton. But multiple scenes in front of the main desk at the hospital? Didn't work for me. Execution. Dialogue that seemed forced.

-- I also have no problem with Smitty and Martin discussing their marriage with "the grands." But too much of that conversation sounded like one that came from the first month of the show, including the Dupree legacy and the activism.

-- The execution that did work for me? The police station scenes with Jacob, Izaiah, and Elon.

It’s actually become hilarious to me now. People will jump on the show about something or assume the worst, and then the next episode it’s addressed. Almost like the writers have a plan for the show. Whodathunk

It really has for me for the most part as well and I just keep it moving. But that particular one was like a hornet in my hat so once I saw the NEXT WEEK synopsis...I knew. I just sat back and waited for it to air because I knew they would explain it ON AIR. Just like they explained Hayley right down to the doctor her and Randy paid off.

Now do I expect a retcon some day? More than likely. It's the nature of soaps these days. But I expect that in a FEW YEARS. 8 months in however? Nope. Perhaps some course correction now that I believe we are hitting the episodes where the writers should be seeing audience feedback, but I don't feel they will do something and make it contradict what we have already seen/heard.
